The saga continues with incredible twists and turns
Slipping back into Kim Harrison's world of Rachel and her friends and foes is very comforting. It makes me wish that I could never leave it because once I start reading her books I feel lost and amazed, the real world forgotten and far away in my mind. Each new volume beckons me to indulge in another fantastic adventure where the fights, jokes, puns, some wicked magic and charismatic characters ...

Great start to a series - gimme more!
I am completely enthralled by this series! Yes, I know I've only read the first book. And yes, I know that a lot of it is pretty... well, cheesy. I admit this. But it's also a lot of fun. The characters are great, Rachael is really likeable, and it's been awhile since I read a book of this nature that didn't rely on romance (and, you know...) to carry it. And that was more of a relief than ...

The Best So Far
I am currently on the 5th book in the series (I am hooked), but this has been my favorite so far. I love the characters! I felt like I got a little closer to them when I read this one.

outstanding collection
This is a totally exceptional collection of stories. I found them to be captivating. However, these are not stories that should be read by either children or Prudes.

Loved it - and I almost gave up on Rachel before Book 6
"The Outlaw Demon Wails" puts Kim Harrison back on my must-read list! I'd nearly given up on Rachel, as the last few books seemed to be an endless meandering of will-they/won't-they with Ivy and Rachel claiming to grow up, then making an even stupider decision than usual. Not so in Book 6. Rachel HAS grown up, and the many plot threads were woven together in an engaging and suspenseful way. I ...

A suggestion for a great book
This is an exceptional book. The level of coverage on any given topic is often 'the final authority' when other books don't have the answers. I have a considerably older version of this book circa 1978 or so and decided to update my resources for a recertification exam. While this served as an excellent reference, I did find the information cumbersome to find, with the extensive index often ...

Profoundly Useful!
Kathy Harrison has written the definitive guide for family preparedness. This book is not only chock full of useful information, it is also a great read. She not only gives you information, she actually reveals a quality of thinking defensively which is often missing in similar books. A great read from a great writer. interesting...sad story
I enjoyed this book. It brings you into a sad world of a family. I liked this booked because each chapter brought me closer to people involved. Sad,but it shows how disfunctional a family can be. Well written and the author invested time and emotion to the topic. good read.

Bible for medical students
No matter what your professors/classmates/nay-sayers say about how thick and heavy, convoluted or expensive this book is, it doesn't matter because YOU NEED THIS BOOK if you are a medical student, period. In fact, you'll save money in the long run b/c this book will pre-empt your need for many other books (not all, so be careful).

Brutally intelligent....
This book is not for the squeamish. There is so much going on that you wonder how Harrison keeps it all together, and keeps it all believable. But he does! It is a fascinating look into the different sub-cultures in New York and how closely they can be related, despite being completely different. It reminds me of a line from a Kirsty MacColl song "from an uptown apartment to a knife on the A ...
