Hush: Moving From Silence to Healing After Childhood Sexual Abuse17 reviews
Nicole Braddock Bromley

Moody Publishers, 2007

A MUST READ
A must read, not only for the abused individual but for all those involved with that individual. Nicole's words touch you on so many levels. Her ability to connect and empathize with the reader is amazing. Her "voice" is honest and straight forward. She gives the reader tools that are easy to understand and use that will assist them in their healing. I highly recommend this book.

Kathy Evert, Inie Bijkerk

Self Esteem Shop II, 1987

from a non-bp
This is the best book I've ever read about the healing journey, and I've read a lot of those books. "Kathy" tells it like it is. It shows that someone does understand.

Healing Childhood Ear Infections: Prevention, Home Care, and Alternative Treatment9 reviews
Michael A. Phd Schmidt

North Atlantic Books, 1996

We avoided surgery!
My 4 year old daughter was diagnosed with reduced hearing 7 months ago; turned out she had fluid in both ears. The ENT (ears, nose, throat specialists) put her on antibiotics. Did nothing. Then we went away for a month and upon our return, we had her checked again. Fluid had decreased in 1 ear but was still strong in the other. ENT feared it would impact her learning (the decreased hearing) and ...

As a pediatric speech-language pathologist, I found this book to be a helpful resource for professionals who work with children with autism and other developmental delays. The Magic Seashells--Healing Depression and Childhood Abuse3 reviews

Briggs Benchmarks, 2007

The Magic Seashells
I thought this book would be difficult to read because its topic is child abuse, but I could not put it down. The real topic of the book is healing. The author wrote the book to share with others how she struggled with depression caused by almost unbelievable physical, emotional and sexual abuse and how she succeeded in finding self esteem and love. She talks of her attempts to deal with ...

Small Wonders: Healing Childhood Trauma With EMDR4 reviews
Joan Lovett

An excellent case history guide to EMDR with children
Dr. Lovett, the clinical detective (behavioral pediatrician) writes poignant analyses of her work with childhood traumas great and small, in which she applies the bilateral stimulation techniques of EMDR. Her writing style is easy to read, and demonstrates the relative rapidity of trauma resolution when EMDR is properly interwoven into more traditional therapy. From Hurt to Healing: Childhood abuse by a Catholic priest - one woman's story1 review
Mona Villarrubia

PublishAmerica, 2004

I never knew.....
I was a student of Mrs. Villarrubia's at St. Mary's Dominican High School, I had no idea what had happened to her. This book made me incredibly sad, it takes one heck of a good actress to hide that kind of pain. Mrs. Villarrubia, if you ever read this, you are in my prayers from here on out, and condolences on the loss of your son recently. I saw his name in the Times-Picayune this morning. God ...

Haunted Memories: Healing the Pain of Childhood Abuse2 reviews
Perry L. Draper

Fleming H Revell Co, 1996

Terrifyingly Insightful
I found this book to be avarage as I started to read it. Many of what the author said I had heard before. But, when I got to the middle when he describes adult symptoms of a child abuse survivor it began to really get to me. Some of the things he described hit so close to home that my arms would get weak, my hands would tremble and if I'd been standing I probably would've colapsed. I recomend ...

Snowflakes and a Music Box: Healing From Childhood Sexual Abuse1 review
Lori Norman

A tough subject handled well
I found Snowflakes and a Music Box difficult to put down once I started. I was reluctant to begin at first, but glad I read it. The subject matter is handled in an extremely sensitive way. This book is a must for professionals who encounter and/or treat children who have been abused or victimized. It might also prove helpful to victims themselves, providing hope and encouragement in their ...
