Spoken from the Heart139 reviews

Scribner, 2010

Spoken from the Heart by Laura Bush
I love the reading the book. However, the quality of the book is poor. The pages are unevenly cut.

The Prodigal God: Recovering the Heart of the Christian Faith136 reviews

DUTTON ADULT, 2008

Book Review on The Prodigal God by Timothy Keller
Book Review By Jason Scott Prodigal God By Timothy Keller This is a well-written book by one of today's great thinkers. Keller takes an in depth look at one of Jesus' most well know parables, commonly referred to as the "Prodigal Son." However, Keller gives a few reasons why that title is a bit misleading. First, Keller gives the definition of the word "prodigal". " The ...

Heart of the Matter199 reviews

St. Martin's Press, 2010

four about adultery
It appears that adultery is the flavor of the month. I have read four books with this theme during the last two months. Here goes: "My wife's affair" is one of the best books I have ever read. I have already reviewed it. To me it was more about how your actions can cause a sunami and that sometimes there are no do-overs in life. The what-if's. I can't understand how this book has not received ...

The Primal Blueprint Cookbook: Primal, Low Carb, Paleo, Grain-Free, Dairy-Free and Gluten-Free3 reviews
Mark Sisson, Jennifer Meier

Primal Nutrition, Inc., 2010

Another Good Work by Mark Sisson...
I must first admit that I am a real fan of the author's original work "The Primal Blueprint", and his website, so this review my be a little biased. However, in my opinion, this work really compliments his other work. Admittedly, there are a few recipes that are not up my alley, but's the same with any cookbook. In short, if you are really trying to embrace the paleo or a near-paleo diet ...

Matters of the Heart42 reviews

Delacorte Press, 2009

A perfect depiction of obsessive love
I was a little surprised at the reviews of this book. I thought it was very realistic story about a sociopath and his prey. A previous review said that Hope should have left much sooner, but how would you know how you would react in the situation, being manipulated on a regular basis, always confused and terrorized. I think it was a true depiction of how a person in this situation would react ...

A Scattered Life42 reviews, 2009

Wonderful, heartwarming story
I really enjoyed this reading this book. It is a story of three women and how their lives interact. The writing was excellent, the story moved along at a good pace. The plot had some unexpected twists and the characters were wonderful; they were interesting and credible with their good and bad points and before long, I really cared what would happen to them. I recommend this book and will be ...

The Tipping Point: How Little Things Can Make a Big Difference1119 reviews
Malcolm Gladwell

Back Bay Books, 2002

Timely & Provocative
After enjoying Gladwell's recent book 'Outliers', I've decided to read 'Tipping Points', which I've heard about frequently over the past decade. Despite having some understanding of the arguments of 'Tipping Points' prior to reading it in detail, I find the book timely & provocative. It certainly sparks thoughts and conversation, & has helped me to view life in a fresh perspective. Gladwell's ...

Heart of Darkness421 reviews

Public Domain Books, 2006

Heart and Mind
I recently re-read the Joseph Conrad novella Heart of Darkness, a perennial classic and the inspiration for Francis Ford Coppola's Apocalypse Now. Having first read this powerful piece in high school, there was much I had forgotten. I am glad to have revisited it. This time it really hit home: just how relative its themes of greed, corruption, and redemption are in today's world. We may draw a ...

I'm very pleased with this transaction: The book is basically new, but I could never buy it in a store for this price. I was worried that shipping would take too long, but I was pleasantly surprised. It came quickly. Great transaction for me. Thanks!

The DASH Diet Action Plan40 reviews

Amidon Press, 2007

This diet works for lowering blood pressure.
This book was recommended by my doctor for lowering blood pressure and it has worked - mainly adding potassium to my diet. I have also lost some weight which is a goal for me as well. I have tried many diets and find this one easy to follow and very healthful.

Why Men Marry Bitches: A Woman's Guide to Winning Her Man's Heart147 reviews

Simon & Schuster, 2006

Great read!
At first I thought, why WOULD a man want to marry a bitch? That goes against everything I thought I know about dating! I was always skeptical about buying books on "date coaching" but this was was really fun to read and it made me laugh out loud a few times. The author is like the one friend you don't have that will tell you what you need to hear and it's a great unbiased objective on the few ...

Wild at Heart: Discovering the Secret of a Man's Soul773 reviews

Thomas Nelson, 2001

Great Book!
I obtained this through [...] figuring 'why not, it's free' and didn't think much else of it. I enjoy reading and I needed something new, I never expected this extremely detailed account of what makes men tick and how we, as men, can use that knowledge to make sure we do the best we can for ourselves, our families, and our Lord. I find it very inspiring to read a narrative such as this that is ...

The Heart of Rachael1 review

Public Domain Books, 2004

Good Book
I Usually read mystery books and Thrillers but I read the book sisters by Kathleen Thompson and liked it so I decided to try this book. Her books are of simpler times. In this book Rachael is married and is not happy with her life and gets a divorce which is unheard of in these days and remarried to a man she is in love with. But in turn several years later her husband is foolish and thinks he is ...

Between a Heart and a Rock Place: A Memoir13 reviews
Pat Benatar

William Morrow, 2010

"The Rise To Rock Fame", a memoir by Pat Benator.
This is a great memoir titled "Between A Heart And Rock Place" by Pat Benator on the rise to fame by one of the earliest famous rock icon in the 80s.She was classically trained for 8 years, but ended working as a bankteller for a while,"accidentally" landing a record deal in 1979.Her rise to fame was "sudden",winning consecutively 4 grammy awards in 1980 - 1983.She had a wonderful 30 years musical ...

In the Heart of the Sea: The Tragedy of the Whaleship Essex314 reviews

Penguin, 2007

Fascinating story, wonderful author
This is one of the best history books I have ever read. Although the story itself draws you into the lives and history of the whale ships of Nantucket, the author does a wonderful job giving you history and painting a picture of the lives of the men in the book. Some history books are so dense, you lose interest after a few chapters, but this one kept me reading late into the night.
