Incredible read, a must for parents
I purchased this book so I could give it to parents. I am a great grandparent, very interested in young families. Oh, how I wish I had had this available 45 years ago. It was such an interesting read as well as very fundamental. I found myself staying up till very late at night reading because I had to see what she had to say next. I feel that this is one of the 21st century problems with ...

Enlightening for Dad
Simply put, I found the book to far exceed my expectations for it. As a male, the author's insights into girls' social roles and interactions were a huge eye-opener. And as the father of three girls, I appreciate all the examples of specific situations girls may find themselves in, how their thinking/social conditioning may have contributed, and how they can extricate themselves. As others ...

The best I have read...
With my son's recent diagnosis of sensory problems, I have really been accumulating a library of books on the subject. This books is BY FAR my favorite... I am only half-way through it and have already dog-eared half of the pages I have read. It is packed with practical suggestions/solutions on how to help your sensory child cope with everyday life. If you are only going to buy one book, this ...

Not for the wimpy mided
Kevin Trudeau may well be as much all about the money as he blames the whole world, have crime records, and more. Yet, people still have to listen to him. Most people in America are very negligent about their obesity and diet despite the epidemics of cancer and more diseases. Everybody has known at least a person with a severe disease, such as diabetes, we all know that the canned and boxed food ...

Great Book
I enjoyed this book. I enjoyed the open ended question that the writers pose at nearly the end of every chapter. The books encourages the reader to think for him/herself. The chapter on HMO was interesting. I thought that the writers provided a poignant example on why sessions and reimbursements are so limited under HMO's.

A Volcano in My Tummy
It was not what I thought. I thought it was a book to read to kids, instead it is a WONDERFUL workbook with ideas, activities, etc. Definately for teachers but very useful even for this grandma!

The Mystery of Change
As a corporate director of human resources, it is a good day when I find a book that can actually be put to good use in our managerial training. This is one of those books. In fact, it is one of the rare books that weeks and months after using, I still find that managers refer to "cheese" when dealing with change management problems and solutions. While change certainly means different ...

Simply Awesome
Super Book. When I met my wife, she already had a 3yr old daughter. That was 6 years ago. The book really helped me understand what my new step-daughter was coping with, even at 3/4/5 yrs old, etc. More importantly, I learned how I could be a positive support to her emotional transition and the stress placed on her. Today, I am simply "dad" and she is simply my "daughter" ... I couldn't be ...

the gold standard
Hamilton is definitely the gold standard for retelling these glorious, ancient myths. Her style is engaging and the structure of the book makes it very easy to keep track of such ridiculously branched family trees. This is much more than just a reference book...it's more like a giant Greek fairytale book.

life changing
This book is wonderful. It was assigned reading for a course I voluntarily took to improve my professional consulting skills. The book is full of valuable information that is easy to read yet full of depth. With some practice I have made this a regular part of my life, and my relationships both personally and professionaly have improved for it. I think everyone should read this book!

Witches.......incredible book......rich tapestry
I loved this delicious book. This book is definately not for everyone. It is tedious reading, there is no question, the language is lush, detailed, lengthy yet exquisite. If you love the art of writing, you will devour it, if you are an under-the-covers-fly-by-night quick books reader it may test your patience. Early on this book becomes almost a bible of sorts in the mayfair history, ...

Great for Experiential Learning
This book leads the reader through a three stage model of helping: exploration, insight, and action. This book is incredibly well-balance between Rogerian, psychodynamic, and CBT skill sets. If you just pick up the book and read it may seem like it is simplistic; however, the high quality of the book is that it gives the readers several activities to practice the skills in the book. Things that ...

Real Ministry
I was given this book by a mentor of mine and told that it would be extremely helpful. The problem is that I saw it was deemed a "counseling" book on the back, so I moved on for a while before I picked it up and read it. I continued to see the book on the "Best Seller's" list at many sites that I admire, so I finally picked the book up and started to read. I have to be honest, if I were to try ...

Excellent, kind-hearted insight into your wonderful child!
Wow. I am so happy to have found this book. It has finally connected the dots for me. My son has, since birth, been a highly sensitive person, bothered by noises, lights, changes in routine, etc. But for some reason, I had never put them together as part of one temperament. Now I see that his terror at the sound of fireworks, his shielding his eyes from bright sunlight, his extreme discomfort ...

Easy to Understand Text on Appraisal
I purchased a copy of Appraisal Procedures for Counselors and Helping Professionals by Robert J. Drummond in order to review for the National Counselor Exam. The material is presented in an easy to understand format. ...

Best book on sleep for infants!!!!
This is the best book for infant sleep I received. It's a common sense approach to helping your child sleep through the night and establish good sleep habits. Not only does it tell you how to help shape your child's sleep it also tells you why it works. Another nice part of the book is it will tell you by age how much an average child sleeps and how much is at night and in naps. I love this ...
