Utter nonsense!
It is well done to make not one, but two mistakes on the title page! And grave ones, at that! First of all, there is no such person as "Hermes Trismestigustus". This is a misspelling of Trismegistus, "Thrice-Great", whereas the closest thing to a meaning in Trismestigustus would perhaps be "the thrice full of taste" (combining greek and latin). Funny enough, but little relation to the ...

The core teachings of Gnosis
I am going to review this volume because I read every single English word of it, cover-to-cover. I admit that I didn't read the corresponding original language text, because my Latin was never all that good, and I have no Greek. I wish that I did, though. better than Scott's
Although I enjoy the poetic spirit of Walter Scott's translation, this is undeniably a superior translation and is important for reasons aptly mentioned by other reviewers. I think this is the definitive translation. Superb.

Very good
Those who tend to disparage the value of this book are doing a disservice to those of us who want to know more about hermeticism and the hermetic tradition and are new comers to this area. Mr. Freke in his introduction clearly states how influential these writings have been. Yes this was written in late antiquity but it incorporates many teachings that would have come from the Mind of Thoth. This ...
