Burners should buy this book
This is the best book on CD burning I've ever read! It covers everything. The text on Easy CD version 4 is great and even takes you through Direct CD. I like the author recommendations and his style, he knows his recording! Whether you are already burning your own CD-ROMS or looking for a burner to buy and how to use it you will enjoy this book.

Beginner book with plenty of answers
I needed a printer for my first computer system, and this book told me all about what to look for during my visits to the stores. There's plenty of information here and my kids are trying out the crafts. It is a very complete book and I rate it four stars. I have bought several computer books to help me with Windows and my new Pentium 2 and this was the easiest to understand and had the ...

A Lifesaver
A while ago I found myself having to purchase my 7th computer in 14 years. An initial casual interest had turned into a daily necessity for personal business, business-business, communication and fun. The 6th computer had crashed - fine one moment, gone the next (luckily a conversation with a friend had prompted me to buy a zip drive and do a full backup only two weeks before.) I realized I ...

Growing up in a California Engineering Culture
As I started to read this book, I anticipated a tainted Carly story. True it did give a positive review of Carly's leadership which may have been a bit too rosey, but it gave a glimpse into the manifestation of business growth pains. The factors of HP's reinvention are a growing concern within the culture of all great engineering environments within the Valley. The change in global business ...

A "must read" for business leaders and technologists
This is a fascinating account of what is (or at least was) one of the most admired and respected companies, not just for its product reputation, but for its corporate culture and management style that was unique in its day, and copied by many others since. The book chronicles how Hewlett and Packard started a bare-bones company in a one-car garage with a single product and grew it into a ...

Others have written about the rise of Hewlett-Packard, including Dave Packard himself in The HP Way . But acclaimed journalist Michael S. Malone is the first to get the full story, based on exclusive access to corporate and private archives, along with hundreds of interviews. Malone draws on his new material to show how some of the most influential products of our time were invented and how a culture of innovation led HP to unparalleled ...

A great overview of the Volume Rendering Pipeline
This book gives a good overview of the typical Volume Rendering by Ray Casting pipeline, and discusses the mathematics without going into too great a depth. The book gives many references on each subject so that the reader can then read more about the topics of interest. The only 'problem' is that the book never mentions a few popular algorithms, such as the Marching Cubes Algorithm.

Treasure trove of information and formulae
This books is the next step in the evolution of Dr. Barry Boehm's seminal work, Software Engineering Economics (it was NOT written by Dr. Boehm, however). It provides a logically laid out format that examines measurement at each stage of the development life cycle. I was impressed with the attention paid to testing and V&V. I have not tried the software that comes with the book (book includes a ...
