High-Yield Histology (High-Yield Series)7 reviews
Ronald W Dudek

Lippincott Williams & Wilkins, 2004

excellent for usmle prep
This is not a typical histology book...in the sense that it contains, pharmacology, pathology, physiology and anatomy and very little histology and histopathology. The book is extremely HIGH YIELD for usmle but not for a class in histology. It covers topics ranging molecular biology of signal transduction to the coagulation cascade. First year medical students will not recognize much of the info ...

High-Yield Biochemistry (High-Yield Series)6 reviews
R. Bruce Wilcox

Lippincott Williams & Wilkins, 2009

Good if you need quick quick coverage.
Nicely summed up by the reviewer below. If you need a very quick-and-dirty review, this is good. I take points off due to the lack of index and some weak sections. At this point, QBank leads me to believe that this book may not cover everything I needed to know.. but good for last minute stuff, especially if you hate Biochem like myself.

High-Yield Microbiology and Infectious Diseases (High-Yield Series)5 reviews
Louise B Hawley

Lippincott Williams & Wilkins, 2006

The best of the High Yield Series
What it does right: This is the only book in the HY series the give sufficient detail to clinical cases and treatments. If you know this book, you know micro sufficient for USMLE. Goljan path has some other angles to integrate into you micro studying, but this covers the bulk of the classic microorganism, case presentations, and treatments. Concise and easily readable. The section of Q/A is ...

High-Yield Immunology (High-Yield Series)9 reviews
Arthur G Johnson

Lippincott Williams & Wilkins, 2005

Great review book
Perfect review book for the USMLE step 1. It is quick yet thorough. I found it was a great supplement to what was in First Aid and had all of the pertinent information. I didn't see any topics on the boards that weren't covered in the book.

High-Yield Gross Anatomy (High-Yield Series)17 reviews
Ronald W Dudek, Thomas M Louis

Lippincott Williams & Wilkins, 2007

High Yield
Very good high yield material for step one. A great review book, and very helpful and concise.

High-Yield Behavioral Science (High-Yield Series)10 reviews
Barbara Fadem

Lippincott Williams & Wilkins, 2008

Best Review outside of Kaplan
If you are not into the Kaplan format or don't have time this is the book for you. The chapter are short and to the point. You can maximize your Board score by looking at the chapters in Biostats (guaranteed to ghave at least 2 questions per block on this subject). Look into it and if you need a bit more details I suggest either the Goljan High Yield Notes or Kaplan Behavioral Sciences.

High-Yield Cell and Molecular Biology, 2nd Edition (High-Yield Series)7 reviews
Ronald W Dudek

Lippincott Williams & Wilkins, 2006

Worked Great for Me
I haven't taken the boards, but this book really helped me with my first round of tests in med school. It pretty much took all the stuff we had learned in lecture and put it in a user-friendly format. It might be too detailed for the boards (that's what other reviewers said), but it is great for med school tests.

High-Yield Embryology (High-Yield Series)11 reviews
Ronald W Dudek

Lippincott Williams & Wilkins, 2009

Excellent Review for a low yield subject on the Boards
This is much more concise than the new version. This little book helps you put the H.Y. facts of embryo together not just as a subject on its own but in conjunction to pathology. I would specially recommend the first 3 chapters to get a quick idea of embryo genesis and the cardio, respiratory, GI sections for quick kill on the congenital abnormalities that are extensively talked about in ...

High-Yield Neuroanatomy (High-Yield Series)20 reviews
James D Fix

Lippincott Williams & Wilkins, 2008

Great resource for Step 1
The USMLE has become increasingly focused on neuro over the past few years, and First Aid has become more and more inadequate with respect to neuro. This book is a great way to prepare for the neuro questions on Step 1. It's a slender book and is thus a very quick read --- heck, I'm a slow reader and finished it in 2.5 days. At the beginning of the book are several images of brain sections, with ...

High-Yield Biostatistics (High-Yield Series)8 reviews
Anthony N Glaser

Lippincott Williams & Wilkins, 2004

Extremely Board Specific
I first encountered this book when it was called "Biostatistics for the Boards" when I took the course from Dr. Glaser when he was teaching at the American University of the Caribbean School of Medicine in 1990. Dr. Glaser was an exceptionally good and popular teacher and the book reflects his "no-nonsense" style. At first I thought it was a "dumbed down" statistics book as I had taken a full ...

High-Yield Genetics (High-Yield Series)
Ronald W Dudek, John E Wiley

Lippincott Williams & Wilkins, 2008

High-Yield Genetics is an important addition to the High-Yield series, which medical students rely on heavily to review for the USMLE. This new volume provides a concise, clinically oriented summary of genetics in the popular High-Yield outline format. The book is generously illustrated with schematic line drawings as well as photographs of the most clinically relevant diseases. Illustrations appear at the end of each chapter in a multi-panel ...

High-Yield Internal Medicine (High-Yield Series)1 review
Raminder Nirula

Lippincott Williams & Wilkins, 2006

Good for quick reading during short time
This is a good book to read right before the exam. Very concise review of numerous topics, all pertinent for the shelf exam. No pictures, outline format, so don't use this as a primary source. it will be helpful in short time before exam

Leveraged Finance: Concepts, Methods, and Trading of High-Yield Bonds, Loans, and Derivatives (Frank J. ...1 review
Stephen J. Antczak, Douglas J. Lucas, ...

Wiley, 2009

doesn't try to predict the future
The book was written in early 2009, just as the market was plumbing new multiyear lows. Perhaps because of this, the authors are careful not to offer any predictions as to the future. Instead the book is timely, in that it explains CLOs and CDSs to a reader unacquainted with them. We are reminded that CLOs have been around 20 years, which includes the 90-1 and 2001 recessions. These were not ...

High-Yield Histopathology (High-Yield Series)1 review
Ronald W Dudek

Lippincott Williams & Wilkins, 2007

good, but it has some problems
This book is good, because it has integrated different subjects, such as, physiology, pharmacology, pathology, etc. However, some of the high yield books including this one are becoming more like the "board review series", they are becoming too detailed. People won't sue them if those books miss a few details, people are reading this book and other high yield because they want to get the ...

High-Yield Obstetrics and Gynecology (High-Yield Series)6 reviews
Elmar P Sakala

Lippincott Williams & Wilkins, 2005

Excellent Book for NBME Shelf Exam
This book is great for the NBME Shelf exam. I am a 3rd year medical student who recently took the test and this book hit most (if not all) of the topics covered by the exam. It also presents the topics in table form to point out slight differences in clinical presentation that will help you make the diagnosis. There is also an appendix that lists answers to "what is the most common...." which is ...

High-Yield Cell and Molecular Biology3 reviews
Ronald W Dudek

Lippincott Williams & Wilkins, 1999

Very High Yield!
High yield cell and molecular biology is exactly what it says, and from the outset doesn't pretend to be anything else. "Lean efficient text" says the blurb, "Study guides with the barest essentials". These words certainly comforted me after reading the somewhat ominous title! The text is compact, with clear and helpful diagrams illustrating and clarifying the most difficult concepts in the ...

Investing in Junk Bonds: Inside the High Yield Debt Market1 review
Edward I. Altman, Scott A. Nammacher

Beard Books, 2002

A small clubby world: High Yield Bonds
Given that high yield bonds make up fully 25% of U.S. public corporate debt, and 19% of European corporate debt, you'd think there's be more and better books written on the subject. Think again. The best material on high yield bonds is written by the underwriters and research departments of large investment banks. It is a market of closed information. Why? Fees for issuance of a high ...
