Await Your Reply: A Novel

Outstanding, my favorite of the year
This is a captivating read that stayed with me long after the last page. It is the story of several interconnected characters, although the mystery of how they are connected is not revealed until the very end of the book. It is not even the curiosity or suspense that kept me so involved in this novel although that certainly was a factor. Chaon creates characters and situations that I wanted to ...

I loved it
I won't go into details about the plot of this book, other reviewers have done a nice job already. This book made me feel so many different emotions and it also made me think; about life, love, politics, and how history repeats itself. Bravo Barbara Kingsolver. The common theme among the "bad" reviews were complaints that the book was boring. I say go pick up a drug-store paperback if you ...

Gut-yankingly honest, funny embeded in lush world travel
What a yummy mixture of pure, gut-yanking honesty about one's inner life; humor and the luscious, rich color of world travel! So many of my friends were reading this simultaneously, as we'd discover by surprise. We'd say: "I'm in India." Or: "I'm just in Italy...." I read through it, highlighting parts that resonated with truth for me, folded down pages to read to my boyfriend who was wowed ...

Stranger than fiction.
This presentation is so unusual that the average person will not believe it is well researched. They will say it is another example of the "Big Lie" against Jews. Yet it corroborates all the information that I have ever been able to assemble about the ancient near east, in texts and lectures.
Little Bee: A Novel

After the Sting, the Barb Remains
Starting with the skinny summary on the flyleaf and continuing into the narrative, `Little Bee' reads like a fable. Like a dark fairy tale it's told from two, first-person points of view. Because the author entreats the reader to refrain from divulging what happens to Little Bee, a Nigerian refugee and Sarah, a British magazine editor, it's not easy to write a review that sufficiently explains ...

My fiancé and I listened to this book on MP3 during our Thanksgiving travels. This book had us laughing from Georgia to Washington DC. Loved it!

Brutally funny, but painfully psychoanalytic
No doubt, there are laugh-out-louds a plenty throughout this book. Covering 150 topic fetishes of 'white' people, the author provides a hilarious lampooning of cultural pretensions and intellectual facades. I suspect the title must originally have been 'Stuff Liberal White Americans Like', but the editorial staff must have intervened. This is not really a portrait of anyone east of London. ...

Yes, kids AND adults love it!
My two-year-old daughter and I were both huge fans of the first Knuffle Bunny book, so we got the sequel, "Knuffle Bunny, Too" as soon as we could. I see that other reviewers believe the book is overdone or "silly" (heaven forbid a children's book be "silly") and that the humor is more for adults than children. But my daughter adores this book even more than the original! She's almost two and ...

the best of the power of three.
TPOT was my favorite series of the warriors books. It had drama, suspense, and tension. I love how dark and twisted Hollyleaf became. My favorite type of books are those that reveal secrets. I think that Hunter does an excellent job. I can't to find out what power Dovekit or Ivykit has. I hope that Erin continues the wonderful world of warriors.

Art of Manliness
I've been following the Mckays blog for the last year and love it. I'm 51 and bought the book for myself, son, nephew and family friend. The book is great. I wish I had it when I was a young man, but it still pertains to us older folks.

Great!
I've read and reread all of Sarah Dessen's books, but this is by far her most different, controversial, and difficult books to read. It starts off with Caitlin, she has just found out that her older sister Cass has ran away (even though she is 18). Despite it being Caitlin's birthday, her parents are in utter astonishment. Cass may be gone, but she left Caitlin a present..a beautiful dream ...

A serious expression of wisdom and caring.
I have been turning this book inside out for the past few months now. And I am still almost without words. There are parts of this book that are more heart-wrenching, touching and beautiful than any literature. There is a feeling of genuine tenderness and concern. There is no attempt here to sell you any cheap feel-good plan, or set you up to buy something else. This is really pretty deep stuff, ...

"Spellbinding and "Compelling" seem so overused but they truly apply to this book. It came promptly and in great condition. If it's not new I cannot tell.

Reviews from Brizmus Blogs Books
It's hard for me to say something about a Meg Cabot book other than "It's Meg Cabot; need I say more?" And really, I feel like saying that again. The fact is, I love Meg Cabot, and I love everything I've ever read that she's written, even if some are better than others. Airhead was definitely better than others, and I was worried that Being Nikking wouldn't be able to live up to the awesomeness ...

Both relatable and fantastical
I'm assuming most parents who come across this book are searching for a book that shows positive and relatable images of African-American hair. If that is your criterion, then this book meets it. Told in first person by the little girl, Keyana, the story begins with Keyana's mother combing her hair. Keyana describes how it hurts and sometimes she cries. My 2 and 4 year old girls are always ...

Great Graphic Novel! Great Themes
When I read this book, I didnt quite know what I was getting into, but I am very happy I read it. This book carries many powerful themes and silly characters. I would steer young children away from this book because of the stereotypes that are necessary to get the main theme across. I loved this graphic novel, and its a very quick read if you are used to reading graphic novels or comics. Everyone ...

The Outsiders
I first read this book in junior high for an English class of all classes. At this period of my life, I was going through a lot of teenage angst and emotions. When I started to read this book, it profoundly effected my life. The main character, Ponyboy Curtis represented how I felt when I was in junior high. I could empathize with the emotional turmoil that character was going through. I ...

Reading Tinkers is a Privilege
Harding's prose is alive and brilliant. You'll find yourself reading aloud and wishing that you were the author. In fact, the writing is so beautiful that Harding could tell you any old thing, and you'd probably consider your time well spent. But Harding's fine words are not merely beautiful; they unfold and lay bare and put flesh on the lives of his characters. He offers them to you as ...
