Drug Info Handbk Int Ed 10/E HB27 reviews
LACY

Lexi-Comp,U.S., 2002

wait, there's more
Lexi-Comp's Drug Information Handbook is the bomb. No nagging adds like the PDR; just the facts, ma'am. More eye friendly than previous editions, and still packed with about a gillion tables in the appendix. Drug names are now in red. This is the cat's meow; I probably use it once a day in patient care. Shipping and price are much better through Amazon than through the publisher.

Encyclopedia of Tibetan Symbols and Motifs.15 reviews
Robert Beer

see notes for publisher info, 1999

The 'Wonderful' Encyclopedia of Tibetan Symbols and Motifs!!!
I love this book. Having found it a few years back at a tattoo shop in Santa Cruz, California, I was only able to look at it for a short time but I was able to gain so much knowledge as to the wealth of designs and deep meaning found in Tibetan art. This book stayed in my mind thereafter. Here it is a few years and a couple tattoos later and the book resurfaced on Amazon. Great price, great ...

Sailing the Dream11 reviews
John F. McGrady

Coconut Info, 1999

Reading the Dream
John - dentist, divorced, kids live with mother - managed to re-start his life and sail in a different direction. He met Davey and together they sailed towards new horizons. The book is inspiring in its simplicity. You have two new friends and you join them on a three-year trip from Seattle to Bora-Bora and back to Hawaii. Don't expect deep philosophy or gripping excitement. The pageturner is ...

Living, Studying, and Working in Italy: Everything You Need To Know To Fulfill Your Dreams of Living Abroad17 reviews
Monica Larner, Travis Neighbor Ward

Holt Paperbacks, 1998

Very thorough and helpful
This book is great because it gives you things from an American perspective. I've lived in Italy before on a study abroad program, so I was familiar with some things, but the lists of contact information alone are enough reason to buy this book. It covers everything from student visas to getting dual citizenship and from teaching ESL to starting your own business. A must read for anyone ...

Learning to Listen, Learning to Teach is designed to demonstrate the power and value of dialogue over monologue, and active over passive learning when it comes to educating adults. Enquiry, inscribed book by the British suspense novelist and former st7 reviews
Dick FRANCIS

see notes for publisher info, 1969

If you love rational heroes...
The primary reason I continue to seek out and read Dick Francis is that he continually creates heroes that are efficacious and rational. He avoids the common pitfalls of most modern writers, and instead invents characters who pass the ultimate test: "Would I like to meet and know this person?" If you can answer "yes" to that question then there is great potential for enjoyment in the fiction ...

ARTICLES OF FAITH: A Frontline History of the Abortion Wars10 reviews
Cynthia Gorney

see notes for publisher info, 1998

both fair and fun
As an adult convert to Catholicism struggling for now five years with infertility, a non-American and the daughter of a founder of my hometown's Family Planning Association, I ordered this book wondering if it would help me sort out my mixed feelings about abortion. When it arrived my heart sank: though I had been interested in the topic, it looked long enough to remind me of the ...

Clear Springs: A Memoir18 reviews
Bobbie Ann Mason

see notes for publisher info, 1999

The author remembers and revisits her Kentucky home
I'm an appreciative fan of Bobbie Ann Mason's short stories, about rural people raised with traditional values now somewhat at sea in a world of consumerism, pop culture, and a new morality. Young adults, whose parents would have stuck with a marriage come hell or high water, now divorce and drift through relationships. Their parents tied to the land and other life-long occupations, Mason's ...

Stephen Ashley

Ball Media Innovations, Inc., 2007

Every travel agent who sells Disney should own this book.
I book a lot of Disney World vacations for clients and bought this book as a resource that I figured I would use occasionally. I was pleasantly surprised by the depth and scope of issues addressed within the book. The authors did a really good job of listing every attractions and describing elements that might create an issues for guests with various needs. For example - you expect a book ...

Louis XI: ...the universal spider....6 reviews
Paul Murray. KENDALL

see notes for publisher info, 1971

Excellent historical account of a maligned king......
In LOUIS XI THE UNIVERSAL SPIDER, biographer-historian Paul Murray Kendall says the Burgundian chronicler Molinet called Louis "the universal spider" and the sobriquet unfortunately stuck. He says Louis was further demonized by 19th Century historians and writers who failed to do their homework. Louis XI was not so much spider as he was diplomat and peace-maker in an age when men looked ...

Moleskine Info Book Pocket5 reviews
Moleskine

Moleskine, 2008

Simply Awesome
I was given this as a gift before I left for the Peace Corps. It has become my personal phrasebook for learning Thai. It has several tabbed sections where I write useful words and phrases. These sections are: bed, food, people, sights, and facilities. If you develop a system that works for you this will be better than any phrasebook you can buy. I suggest writing things in pencil as you will ...

Mediterranean and the Mediterranean World in the Age of Philip II.7 reviews
Fernand Braudel

see notes for publisher info, 1992

An education.......
I have been keenly interested in world history for nearly 20 years. I read, on average, 30 non-fiction historical accounts per annum. With rare exception, I have always felt up to the task of both completion and comprehension. Braudel is an entirely different animal. What Braudel has presented in the form of 16th-century Mediterranean history is formidable, innovative, and exhausting. ...

Timothy. FERRIS

The stars in their courses...
Heaven's net casts wide. Though its meshes are coarse, nothing slips through. -- Lao Tzu If ever there was a physical manifestation of poetry, the starry sky at night, the panoply of objects that populate the heavens, would come close. The character of Dr. Arroway in Carl Sagan's Contact exclaims, upon seeing the glorious objects of the universe up close during her epic flight, 'Poetry! They ...

Bar & Bat Mitzvah in Israel: The Ultimate Family Sourcebook5 reviews
Judith Isaacson, Deborah Rosenbloom

Israel Info-Access, 1998

Thorough, well-thought out, user-friendly.
"To those who know how difficult it can be to plan a bar/bat mitzvah at the corner synagogue, it may sound completely absurd to try planning one half a world away. But for parents who believe that their child's coming of age would be enhanced by holding the festivities in the Promised Land, there's a new book written by two mothers who have done just that." "Aside from an exhaustive list of ...

Susan Othmer

EEG Info, Inc, 2008

Benchmark author summarizes important points
Experts in neurofeedback already know that Sue Othmer figuratively wrote the book on the practice. This quick reference is not a stand alone, but it beautifully summarizes the most important points of neurofeedback and provides a wonderful go-to for the practitioner who has had the full course. In addition, for the seasoned professional it allows a quick review of salient points. I like its ...

Turkey--Bright Sun, Strong Tea: On the Road with a Travel Writer6 reviews
Tom Brosnahan

Travel Info Exchange, 2005

Praise for Bright Sun, Strong Tea
While planning a trip to Turkey, I ran across Tom Brosnahan's website, www.TurkeyTravelPlanner.com. I discovered Bright Sun, Strong Tea and purchased the book, not really expecting too much, but I am an avid reader when it comes to a subject I am interested in. Was I surprised, first with Mr. Brosnahan's writing style and secondly with the wealth of information he gives the reader through his ...
