Better than you think.
Just finishing my masters in secondary education, this is the book I find myself using as a reference most often. Just about everything is here in regards to the psychology of education from the elementry stuff like Behaviorism through a hoard of theorists like Piaget, Asubel, Brunner, etc. etc. etc. The contrast presented at the end of the book between Gagne and the constructivists makes the ...

Great teaching strategy book.
I like the theory and implementation strategies behind this book! It was easy to read and understand, too. I bought it for an education/ teaching methods course and I've used it to write every lesson plan, unit plan since. It relates to the idea that classrooms are made up of so many diverse types of learners that you must try and vary your instruction. (It's a lot like Howard Gardner's "Ways ...

A Must Read
As a professional educator who is interested in curriculum development and student success, I couldn't put this book down! Tomlinson an McTighe are both experts on their perspective topics of differentiation and assessment, so the pairing of these two made for informative reading. We want to reach every student to the point that they understand the essential learnings, and these two make ...

The instruction
Very informative, easy to read. Instructions were complete and explicit. The double spacing made it a fast read. I wanted to do a workshop on it so more people could have awareness. The information was fascinating and the fact that we all have spirit guides was new learning for me.

Very useful text
This is a very useful, and up to date text. I'm in an education program right now that focuses heavily on literacy. This text book has become my bible! This text even carries complete lists of children's books to use for teaching certain ages and subjects! I love this book and I'm sure I'll be using it for years to come!

New to differentiation?
I found this book to be terrific! It answered all of my questions. I used the student survey with my 9th grade students and they loved it! I even use the matrix plans for every unit I teach. This book covers it all - placing students in groups (how to place students in groups using differentiation), tiering assignments, grading (is differentiation fair), classroom management (how do I manage ...

Comprehensible meaning for teachers
This book is an excellent tool for teachers seeking to improve their instructional practices. It is also a very useful tool for teacher trainers who wish to help educators in the process of reaching English Language learners (ELLs). It explains how effective teachers can reach ELLs. Although short, every page is worth reading.

Very useful for homeschoolers too...
My children attended a public school where this program was used. When I brought them home due to their various LDs/allergies, I balked at the $40 price tag of this book and opted for the less expensive Spectrum Spelling books for their grade level. I found those to be rather annoying because often my children already knew the words. And the ones they didn't know, they would spell correctly on ...

Sophisticated Reading Strategies for Students in All Grades
This is an excellent book for teachers in all areas of education. Since reading is the basis for all learning, this book is very useful for classroom teachers, parents, reading specialists, and other readers who would like to become more efficient at reading a variety of texts as well as developing independent skills within the process of reading, rather than after-the-fact. Specifically for ...

A Great Introduction to Bilingual Education
This book was required reading for a class I took, and I think it is a great introduction to bilingual education. Even if you think you have the basic idea of what bilingual education is, this book provides everything from the history of bilingual education to its legal basis to teaching strategies. A great book that should be read by anyone interested in education, even if your focus isn't ...

Very Good, Easy Reading Book for Teachers Who Want to Learn More About English Language Learners
I thought this book was very good for classroom teachers who want clear information on how to include English Language Learners in their classrooms. It is very difficult to explain to classroom teachers how to include students who are learning English in short sound bites. This book helps clarify information and teachers can read it at their leisure. I personally don't like the term English ...

One of the Best Textbooks for Basic ID
I have used this text in several editions, both as a reference in my work as an Instructional Developer and as a one of several suggested ID texts I've used in teaching this subject. It is one of the most comprehensive basic texts for the entire ID process, providing information not available in other more simplified texts. For this reason, you do not tend to read it as you would a novel. You ...

Extremely Accessible and Great Basic Information
I operate an educational multimedia publishing group serving the public healthcare sector. I found this book to be eminently approachable and extremely well organized. I was able to read through it over a weekend. One can get to the key concepts (the HOW) of each chapter without being forced to muddle through the supporting theory. That being said, all major concepts are well supported by ...

I used this book to guide a book study with elementary teachers in a school where I was the principal. Both books present the "cut to the chase" version of research that many teachers appreciate ...

Ideas
This last review is an illustration of exactly what is wrong with so many educators. Imagine someone so narrow-minded they can't get past the style of writing that they most prefer in order to understand the ideas behind the writing. This book likely did a great deal to counteract the design of curricula based on the kind of traditionalists who would focus exclusively on "commas in the wrong ...
