One of my favorite spinning books
I've been spinning for over 30 years and seldom purchase "how to spin" books anymore. But this one has found an honored place in my bookcase. And I've been recommending it to all my spinning friends, many of whom have taken classes from the author. I don't recommend it to absolute beginners, but to anyone who has been spinning for while and wants to get beyond being a purely intuitive spinner ...
Intentional Teacher: Choosing the Best Strategies for Young Children's Learning

National Association for the Education of You

Unique Book For The Experienced Teacher
Epstein, a developmental psychologist, does an excellent job with this cerebral, yet practical, book because she doesn't let it or it's individual parts go on too long. It's not for the beginning teacher because it shows a person how to sharpen their teaching by turning to a different point-of-view (the more empathetic side); that's how you intentionalize your teaching: making sure to see ...

, 2009
With this book and DVD, Laminack invites you to join him in an effort to reclaim the read aloud for students as one of the most potent instructional moments of the school day. To get the most from our read alouds and make every aspect of reading aloud intentional, he believes that we must be as thoughtful in our planning for the read aloud as we are when selecting manipulatives for mathematics. We make the read aloud intentional when we ...

Everyone should know these skills!
This book should be required reading for everyone, regardless of field or relationship status. If you encounter a friend, relative, or stranger with something on their mind, this book shows you the steps you can take to help that person find the solutions to their own problems, a skill we all have within us. I use the skills in this book as a psychology student, a parent, and someone in ...

Good multi-cultural view with great practice exercises
One of the few text books I didn't sell back. This book gives counseling students great examples on how to phrase difficult sessions. Difficult text to test on but very good for the comprehensive review of counseling a wide variety of clients.

Practical and important ideas for church leaders
The church today appears to be in the entertainment business. This book brings a careful look at what is needed to make the church a place for healing and growth if Christians want to make a difference in a world where God's truth and love are sorely needed. This book would be a great discussion starter for small group bible studies as well as church leadership. (The book has short chapters ...

Essential information!
I read this book when it first came out in hard cover. Since then I have used it as a text book in a family resource management class I teach at a university (because family resources are not limited to money and "things"). Doherty has done a super job of translating what he knows as a family professional to the language of typical readers interested in improving family life. I believe every ...
The Intentional Church: Moving From Church Success to Community Transformation
Randy Pope
Moody Publishers
, 2006
Randy Pope has created a blueprint for pastors and church planters with The Intentional Church . Such an organization must model a dynamic spirit of worship and servanthood that will cause it to become a magnet for people needing help. Part of the blueprint involves having a God-honoring purpose, a faith-oriented commitment, a well-defined mission, biblically-based job descriptions, and more. A relevant resource for pastors and lay ...

"Teach us to number our days aright"
This book is an outstanding book for Christian women wanting to live intentionally. This 12-chapter book is not difficult reading, but has many valuable insights which bear reflecting on. There are questions at the end of each chapter and I feel that taking the time to write out the answers and look up the pertinent verses is a valuable learning tool. It does, however, take much longer ...

Fantastic plan from a fantastic church!
This group writes from the perspective of the Fellowship Bible Church, founded by Gene Getz. FBC is one of the exceptional equipping churches in America, not only growing to great size using a "mini-church" or house church model, but also successfully planting dozens of other local churches mostly in Texas, Arkansas, and the Rocky Mountain states. They have founded the Center for Church Based ...

Definitely worth reading
This a really good read. The authors begin from the premise that organizations are now more than ever forced to operate in a climate of change. Their capacity for transformation is therefore increasingly essential for their survival. The authors outline seven strategies for achieving such a transformation: coercion, persuasive communication, participation, structural rearrangement, role ...

A Classic
I believe this work should be considered a classic given the enormous influence the articles in it have had on philosophy of mind, among other areas in philosophy. Much in here is stated more clearly about the Intentional Stance than it is in later works, such as Brain Children. That isn't a criticism. I think that around the time this work was published Dennett was more into legitimizing and ...
