Mossflower301 reviews
Brian Jacques

Red Fox, 1994

Best book in the universe!
I have read many, many, great books. Mossflower would totally be at the top of the list! I started reading it, and I just couldn't put it down! The plot and characters draaw you in, until you fell like you are in Mossflower woods, helping Martin, young Dinny, and Gonff find Salamandstrom. This book is amazing, and I definitely reccomend it for ages 6 and up!

Salamandastron134 reviews
Brian Jacques

Recorded Books, 2004

Astounding and suspensful!!!!
Yet again, Brian Jacques has created another wonderful tale of war, adventure, laughter, and a whole lot of good cooking. With a combination of vivid description and a suspenseful plot, this book is a great read. The story is set in several places, which include Redwall, Mossflower woods, and Salamandastron. This story is told in several different character's points of view, which gives it an ...

The Great Redwall Feast20 reviews
Brian Jacques

Hutchinson, 1996

Wonderful introduction to Redwall!
I bought this book because my oldest son (5 years old) saw a part of the Redwall series on PBS. He loved it but the book series is too old for him yet. This book is a great introduction! The pictures are gorgeous and the language and imagery are exquisite. I highly recommend this book and I hope there will be more like it!

Knitgrrl (Turtleback School & Library Binding Edition)17 reviews
S Okey

Turtleback, 2005

The Perfect Primer!!
Having just recently 'graduated' from making scarves and just about anything else square or rectangular that didn't require patterns or gauge concerns, i was feeling a bit intimidated and confused over some knitting basics. i have a generous assortment of knitting books, and some are more helpful than others. this is one of the best ones. i find these instructions to be extremely friendly and ...

Socialism: An Economic and Sociological Analysis16 reviews
Ludwig Von Mises

Jonathan Cape Ltd, 1951

A must read for students of economics AND sociology!
Mises' Socialism is, perhaps, the most sociologically and economically "sound" theoretical attack on socialism to date. Happily, Dr. Mises' general position has been promulgated in economic journals since the post-war generation, and is the topic of the still relevant "calculation debate." It is not so pleasant that the insights of Mises are largely ignored by the sociology profession (probably ...

And There Was Light: Autobiography of Jacques Lusseyran, Blind Hero of the French Resistance28 reviews
Jacques Lusseyran

Morning Light Press, 1998

Amazing Book
Possibly the most remarkable book ever written by someone blind. All who are blind or have anything to do with the blind should read this book. Yet even people who, like me, have normal sight will learn to see more deeply thru this book. The author describes in great detail a truly "enlightened" life and what that means in the most difficult and inhumane situations. A true treasure full of ...

Martin the Warrior261 reviews
Brian Jacques

Putnam Publishing Group, 1994

amazing
This is in my opinion the best book of a simply amazing series. It follows the story of Martin the Warrior, a legendary character in the Redwall series. Although it wasn't the first book written in the series chronologically, it's probably the best to read first - and if you were to only read a single Redwall book it should be this. Courage, honor, romance, adventure, revenge...this book ...

Brian Jacques

Ace Books, 2011

If all these 5 stars are not convincing enough...?
He has done it again. Brian Jacques has effortlessly rendered another masterpiece worthy of all these big words that I am using. If you are not glued to your Kindle by the first 50 pages, you should make an appointment with your local psychiatrist. Read the book. Now.

Jacques Cousteau: The Ocean World (Abradale)13 reviews
Jacques-Yves Cousteau

Harry N. Abrams, 1985

Wonderful and complete
This was one of the first books my parents ever bought me which I read all by myself. It is still one of my favorite books and one of the few from my childhood that I have not donated to the local library. This book was written by Jacques Cousteau, the famous French oceanographer, inventor of numerous diving devices and technologies and maybe one of the most famous scientists of the 20th ...

Dessert Circus : Extraordinary Desserts You Can Make At Home (Pbs Series)13 reviews
Jacques Torres, Christina Wright, ..., 1998

Almost as good as at Le Cirque!
Jacques is an excellent teacher who doesn't seem to try to omit an ingredient or a secret technique as some chefs do. He is eager to share his thoughts on how to make each recipe a success and even includes the decorative touches that make people ooh and ahh. I've tried, and with great success, the desserts involving Jacques' light puff pastry and the tender flaky tart shell recipes and they ...

Jacques Villeneuve: A Champion in Pictures11 reviews
Jacques Villeneuve

Hazleton Pub Ltd, 1998

The best Villeneuve book on the market!
The pictures in this book give an impression on his personal life rather than just his career. It is good to be able to get the chance to see into their personal life without mobbing them on the streets.

Get Yer Wack: An Anthology of Liverpool Humour15 reviews
J.B. Jacques

Imprint unknown, 1973

The Redwall Series
Hi I'm Midnight Fire I'm 13 years old. I think Brian Jacques' Redwall series is astounding. What makes his books great are the originality of his writing. He doesn't use people but animals, and for each animal he would use a different accent. Each of his animals would have a different personality that would make the book far more interesting than others. Brian Jacques has inspired young writers ...

The Most Beautiful Libraries in the World15 reviews
Jacques Bosser

Harry N. Abrams, 2003

The Library as Sanctuary
The libraries presented here exude supreme reverence for the book and its contents as towering human achievements. One is hard-pressed to doubt the immortality of the texts contained within each binding. Despite the lofty craftsmanship of the art, architecture and the bindings themselves, they have served their purpose only if a reader has been invited, if not lured, to match their dignity. ...

Marlene Dietrich: Photographs and Memories11 reviews
Jean Jacques Naudet, Maria Riva

Thames & Hudson Ltd, 2001

La Dietrich
If you were a fan of Dietrich and were allowed to own only ONE book about this woman, then this should be the book to own. To reiterate another reviewer's thought -- it is EXQUISITE.

Brian Jacques's Tales from Redwall: The Bellmaker, Martin the Warrior, The Taggerung, Redwall, The Pearls of ...15 reviews
Brian Jacques

Random House, 2002

GREATEST BOOKS EVER!
I would recommend that anyone read the Redwall books. I've read them all, some more than once, and I can't wait for the Ledgend of Luke to come out. I think there should be many, many more than the present 11. I think there should be more like 111. I'd read them all, too. One of my best friends is as obsessed with them as I am. She can read one in less than a day. I can read one in a couple of ...

Icons of the 20th Century: 200 Men and Women Who Have Made a Difference11 reviews
Barbara Cady, Jean-Jacques Naudet

Overlook Hardcover, 1998

A real collectors Item
Unlike a number of other books about the ranking of the "greatest" of the 20th century, this book does not rank anyone. This book lists the 200 men and women, in alphabetical order, who have made a difference during the last 100 years. Cady blends detail with a personal touch in each biographical synopsis. The photos, in black and white, give the reader a face to put to the story. Photographer ...
