The Neatest Little Guide to Stock Market Investing47 reviews
Jason Kelly

Plume, 1998

Got what I expected
Heres a nice little book that I would suggest for anyone who wants to start investing. I'm 18 now and I just wanted to get a start on investing since it's definately something that I'm going to get into when I have a career. The book defines a lot of terms so you can get into the stock market lingo and gives strategies for mid and long term investments.

Less Is More: How Great Companies Use Productivity42 reviews

Portfolio, 2002

The answer is in our people!
Jason Jennings is one of those people who communicates well both in a speech and on paper. This book, published in the now seemingly distant past (2002), shares "people in successful companies" stories and how they do it. The examples he quoted remain solid performers almost a decade later and the reason remains the same: the leadership of certain companies are continuously committed to serving ...

It is occasionally easy to make money buying and selling stocks. This book tells you how to do just that! It gives good stock investment techniques for "home gamers" that are willing to do some simple research.

The Gift of Valor: A War Story43 reviews

Broadway, 2005

Love, Honor, and Guilt
I am a Vietnam veteran. I've been struggling with survivor's guilt for over 40 years. Corporal Dunham was a brave soldier. I have no doubt he's gone on to his reward in heaven. I know what his fellow soldiers, those still living, are suffering. There is no cure. Time will diminish the pain, but the memories will remain forever. The writer Jose Narosky said, "...there are no unwounded ...

Raise Your Voice33 reviews
Jaime, J Vendera

The Voice Connection/Vendera Publishing, 2000

I said this to Jaime himself "You deliver the goods far better then anyone else"
and I stand by that. I have studied many programs regarding vocals and if I had only gotten this book a long time ago it could have saved a lot of money. I was thorougly impressed with Jaime's knowledge as well as his dedication to his students. This book contains everything you need to know to become the singer of your dreams. I have actually spoken to Jaime and what I found was a guy who ...

The Joy of Living: Unlocking the Secret and Science of Happiness70 reviews
Yongey Mingyur Rinpoche, Eric Swanson

Random House Audio, 2007

A book to be studied
I recently had the great fortune to hear Rinpoche speak and was most impressed with his humor and humility in explaining meditation. The book is a compilation of some of his talks and has the right blend of science and spirituality that will satisfy both sides. The book contains one of the best explanations of meditation I have ever come across. I would greatly recommend this book and also ...

A Witness to Faith30 reviews
Jason L. White

Dorrance Pub Co, 1998

One of the best books I've read on faith!
I was enthrilled at the body of this remarkable work. I am an advent reader of non-fiction books, but I found this novel to sway me into reading it - even if it was just the first chapter or two. Well, I couldn't put it down until the end! I twisted along with the story in the book and my emotions were charged. What a touching story and what an imaginable way to bring people together again after ...

Room for a Little One32 reviews
Martin Waddell

Orchard Books, 2005

My favorite Christmas story (other than the original)
Four years ago at my first Book Fair, as a new children's librarian, I came across this very heart-warming book, "Room for a Little One," which epitomizes the deepest meaning of Christmas. Please allow me to read this book to you. Please sit and get comfortable. It's cold outside. Kick off your shoes, tuck in your feet. Here, I'll share my throw with you. Hot chocolate? Good. See, it's an ...

Snobbles the Great: A Snooze Patch Story23 reviews
Jason Dobkin, Erika Gragg

Grabkin Creatives LLC, 2009

Truly great!
This book, filled with gorgeous bright colors and totally adorable creatures, is a delight to the eyes and imagination. I enjoyed reading it with my niece, who liked it so much she asked if we could make our own snakes out of modeling clay (a fun activity on a rainy day). The photography is beautiful, and the craftsmanship of every scene will keep you visually stimulated while you read the ...

God in Search of Man: A Philosophy of Judaism21 reviews
Abraham Joshua Heschel

Jason Aronson Inc, 1987

Again I must say Heschel was a Hebrew of Hebrews
This book should be read in conjunction with Man is not alone. Both are remarkably rewarding books. I am an evangelical Christian, yet what I learned from Heschel, and yes I DID learn many things, was powerful. His insights to the Hebrew Scriptures, the Old Testament, shaped and increased my understanding of the New. Much can be learned from this unique man. I heartily recommend you to embark on ...

Vanishing Point: Perspective for Comics from the Ground Up24 reviews
Jason Cheeseman-Meyer

Impact, 2007

A must for every comic illustrator whether amateur or pro
Probably one of the very best books about perspective creation. Takes the reader from the initiation level to the most serious professional one by a series of step-by-step tutorials. It is a must for every comic illustrator, whether US realistic style, European (Belgian) "clear line" realistic or humoristic illustrator, or manga-style. The only point not covered by this manual is shadows but, on ...

The Neatest Little Guide to Stock Market Investing27 reviews

Great place to start!
One of the best things about learning something new is realizing exactly how much you didn't know and how much you have to learn. At first i felt overwhelmed trying to figure out where to begin. I am new to investing and this book was a perfect place to start. It did a great job of breaking everything down with a clear and concise voice that was easy to understand. The author takes the time to ...

Within a Budding Grove (Remembrance of Things Past, 3) (Pt. 1)25 reviews
Marcel Proust

Naxos Audiobooks, 1996

In Search of Lost Time Volume II Within a Budding Grove (Modern Library Classics)
Montcrief's translation, is the quintisential Proust. The, beautiful, florid prose is reminiscent of a time and a place that no longer exists, and captures the French aristocracy in the advent of WWI -- full of old-world trappings, yet abounding with subtle reminders of the globalization that was to follow. Proust's style and vision are directed admirably towards his artistic goal of appreciating ...
