Classic, Good for Everyone
I bought this book based on a reference in Secrets of the A Game by Logan Edwards. I originally purchased this book to help with getting over my social fears with meeting women, but I actually got much more out of it. Of course, it DID help out with meeting women, but also gave me a better perspective on interacting at work and with family. I highly recommend it.

The ballet was not the "original" Nutcracker story
I confess I haven't yet read this version of the book. I just wanted to respond to readers who criticized this book for not following the "original". The original story, which I have read, was written by E.T.A. Hoffman. The ballet was based on his story, which had a heroine named Marie and a mouse king with multiple heads (seven I think). I suspect that that costume would have been ...

Food for a hungry soul
I've never wrote a review on Amazon before but Susan Jeffers deserves high praise for this affirmation CD. I got hooked on Jeffers after reading "Feel the Fear and Do It Anyway" about 6 years ago. That book positively changed my life and was bursting with great information. This inner talk tape is so good I wore out 3 cassette tapes already so I'm very happy to see it is on CD. I never get ...

Adorable!
This book had both my 2.5 year old boy and his 5 year old sister mesmerized from the start. The pictures are adorable and the story is even cuter. I am going to have to check out more of Oliver Jeffers' books!!!

This is such a charming book! As so many reviewers have mentioned, the visual details are amazing. Yes, the story is simple, and I think that allows us to enjoy all the extras Jeffers gives us on every page. The plot is predictable to adults, but my son was quite engaged and even a bit worried when we read "This is the worst bit." My 4-year-old loves it and my 2-year-old repeated "monumental" ...

Excellent advice for freeing your mind from fear and judgements.
I prefer the CD's. I do't always have time to sit down and read a book. The CD's allow me to get the whole book done in a matter of hours, rather than weeks, and I can listen to them at home , in the car, traveling, or doing house work. The mental exercises she suggests in her book are much easier to repeat with the CD's. I find that it is necessary to repeat sections of the CD's to help ...

holiday interpretation
The book is a visual delight but the best to me was the holiday spin given to a dark poem. The text is the Robert Frost poem....nothing else. It is the truly memorable illustrations that give new meaning to" miles to go before I sleep". The main character is a Santa like figure who cares for forest animals before heading out again to deliver to humans. Truly a lovely book suitable for any age.

The Great Paper Caper

The animals? homes are disappearing. Tree by tree, the forest is being cut down. Clues! There must be clues. For instance, look?there is a mysterious bear carrying an ax! But what would a bear want with so many trees? Perhaps the discarded paper airplanes littering the forest floor have a story to tell? Oliver Jeffers? quirky, childlike humor and lovable illustrations are in full effect in this funny whodunit featuring a winning cast of animals ...

If you worry a lot, it's worth many times its price.
I'm 45 years now, and I've spent the most of my life this fare making every possible measure to make sure the unthinkable should never happen, and to be preppared for anything in any case, no mather how things would turn out. Lately this caused me to worry myself to sleeping problems, and to be stressed (stress is not good for your health or remaining life time). But for some reason (I ...

An exciting picture book, featuring brand new characters from highly-regarded, best-selling, multi-award-winning talent, Oliver Jeffers When life in the forest begins to change; when trees mysteriously lose their branches, when whole tree trunks start to disappear, when homes are lost, the only course of action for the forest dwellers is to begin a full scale investigation. Alibis must be proved, clues must be sought but even so, blame is never ...

The Feel the Fear Guide to Lasting Love
Lasting, unconditional love is probably the one thing that we all really want and need in our lives yet it is probably the hardest thing to actually receive. Most of us look to others to prove their love for us. We test them and measure them against some Hollywood version of what true love should look like. When our love doesn't quite look like that fantasy, we immediately begin to blame our ...

"COME JEFFERS"
Robinson Jeffers is considered by many scholars to be one of the greatest 20th century American regional poets. Anytime superlatives are used to describe someone or something in this manner there is room for debate. I do not have the academic credentials to enter into any debate concerning the degree of Jeffers' greatness, but I do weigh in with those who highly praise his work. Though born in ...

Our Favorite Fairy Tale, Beautiful Version
I have two small children, and this has fast become our favorite read-aloud fairy tale. This version is very lyrical and well-told. The illustrations are very detailed and beautiful. The snowy scenes are anything but stark due to good use of color, and we actually get chilled and need to snuggle under the covers when looking at them because they are so full of life. This is a beautiful and ...

Stunning and simple
I just bought this book, and I feel confident it will be a cherished keepsake. It's hard to find a book of the Christmas story that is brief enough for the youngest children, but the lyrics to "Silent Night" work beautifully. The illustrations are lovely and the text is very simple and familiar, but eloquent.

A Diamond in a sea of Zircons
Susan Jeffers is an incredibly gifted and creative writer. This book has, to spout the usual cliche, changed my life. Coupled with Embracing Uncertainty it has the power to bring clarity to the most confused and troubled psyche but more importantly to spur you on to greater efforts at achieving peace and wonder in a tough world. This is a spiritual text and her message is a consistent spiritual ...
