Loved It
RBP's new Spenser book was absolutely wonderful. You can read the other reviews for a more detailed review of the story line. What I liked about the book was the little changes in story structure. The story starts off with, for a Spenser novel, a sureal amount of action. Then things go along in RBP's usual, yet oddly comfortable, style of sparce prose. The dialog with other characters was ...
Ranger's Apprentice: The Sorcerer of the North (Ranger's Apprentice)
John Flanagan
Philomel
, 2008
Time has passed since the apprentice and his master, Will and Halt, led the Araluens to victory against invaders, and Will is now a full-fledged Ranger with his own fief to look after. The fief seems sleepy? boring, even?until the king is poisoned. Joined by his friend Alyss, Will is thrown headfirst into an extraordinary adventure propelled by fears of sorcery, and must determine who is trustworthy to the king and who is trying to take his ...

Nice mix of technology, modern day life and fantasy
Artemis Fowl is a delightful mix of an extraordinary child mingled with technology, modern day living, and a fantastic universe of capable fairies. I was dubious when my brother in law first suggested the series, but have really enjoyed every book published to date. This is my favorite in the series, but only by a small margin. The exploits of a genius, his body guard in a magical setting is a ...

Loved this book
I wish Stephen King(Richard Bachman) wrote more tales like this that are more on the drama side as oppose to the horror. I also like the flow of the book without a lot of extra pages for the mind processing he sometimes gets into in his books. I prefer the shorter and to the point type stories. I think this one would make a good movie.
Murder Inside the Beltway: A Capital Crimes Novel (Capital Crimes)
Margaret Truman
Ballantine Books
, 2008
In an esteemed writing career spanning nearly three decades, Margaret Truman penned twenty-four thrilling Capital Crimes novels, which The Atlanta Journal-Constitution called a ?dazzling series.? Now, in her crowning achievement, Murder Inside the Beltway, Truman brilliantly shows that politics can be not only dirty but downright deadly. Rosalie Curzon, a Washington, D.C., call girl, is found bludgeoned to death in her Adams-Morgan apartment. ...

She saved the best for last!
Though I love all of the books in the Inkheart trilogy (what would one be without the others?), Inkdeath is by far my favorite! Here is what I liked about Inkdeath: The story moved at a great pace that kept me reading ( I hated to put it down..but what is a grown-up to do?) The characters were true to the other books and clearly evolving with the story The plot had several twists and ...

My Hero
This book is fun. Koontz drops you into the dilemma on page one and the action charges on from there. I found myself thinking, "This character's smart. What else could such a simple man do in this mess?" Mitch, the main character, is a hero. -Stephen Prins, author of: Strife of the Lorin

Ian Fleming Reborn and Better Than Ever
I won't go into plot details as this has excellently been done by John Cox in the first review for this book. Actaully I agree with all of his comments and wish I had gotten mine in first. As a Bond collector and fan, since the late fifties, of all things relating to 007 I can be very picky. I cannot be in the case of Charlie Higson and his third venture into the young Bond. Each one gets ...

Great read for kids of all ages
Like Harry Potter, Ranger's Apprentice is written with kids in mind but is enjoyable by all ages. Kids will find themselves drawn into the story while parents will enjoy knowing their children are learning the values of honesty, friendship, and accountability - or are re-enforcing those attributes. The first story begins with a young 15 year old boy (Will) who is an orphan. He dreams of going ...

Terrifying account that every parent should read.
Terrifying. Devastating. Tragic. Those are the three words that come to mind when I think of Elizabeth Scott's Living Dead Girl. After finishing it in one sitting late last night, I'm still trying to catch my breath and desperately trying to get rid of the weight that seems to have settled on my chest. But I think it will be a long time before this happens because what has happened to "Alice" ...

I LOVED this book!!!
This new novel by Mary Jane Clark is wonderfully captivating. I read the book in two sittings while camping - I just couldn't bring myself to put it down. You feel yourself getting into the nanny's and little girl's characters and their anguish, always waiting to see what happens next. It is fast paced and hectic (exaggerated by the fact that the chapters are very short). You also get a feel for ...

Love Jesse...Hate Jenn
I love this Jesse Sone novel. If you like Jesse you will like this book. It is more of the "same". That being said... I am sick of Jenn. Enough of her already! Get over her! Enough drinking for Jesse. That is getting old. I enjoy reading all of the Jesse Stone novels. I love the character. Thus 5 the stars. I would like to see more of Crow in future books.

Promises Keep
This is the 3rd book by Sarah Mccarty that I have read. I really like her style of writing. It is very hard to put down one of her books, after you have picked it up to start reading. Therefore I have to read them on my days off. I like the fact that there is a series, sort of, when you have the same people from each book, in the next book. I also like the endings, you don't just get dropped ...

Fantastic book, a must-read for fantasy fans!
I picked up Artemis Fowl from the library this past weekend (for the fifteenth time), and I must say, it is quite a good book. Eoin Colfer, the Irish author of the book, is a genius with an amazing imagination. It chronicles the tale of 12-year-old criminal mastermind Artemis Fowl, who has devised a scheme to rob the People, or fairies, of their gold in order to reclaim his family's billionaire ...

I like the main character in this book!
I don't understand why so many people are trashing the title character simply because he has 10 kids. Is that common? No. Possible? Yes! I have a neighbor with 6 kids, who's always volunteering to babysit others, she loves kids. But, I digress. I thought this was a very good read, and I really liked the hero...I hope to see him re-appear in more books. No, he's not Alex Cross, but Alex ...
