Love it!
I've known Jodi Picoult since i read "The sister's keeper". So I've become a fan of her. Be honest, I'm reading this book "Nineteen minutes", not finished but I couldn't put down this book. It makes me shocking when I'm reading, maybe it tells us it's a true story, would be happen in some countries also, and in fact some couples are ready to be parents, i think must read this book first. Maybe ...

This 30 year old loved it-passed it on to a 50 year old who did too!
I am completely baffled by some of the negative reviews of this book. I get the fact that not everyone will love it. I appreciate that people have different likes and dislikes but, WOW some of these reviews were really very harsh. It's a fantasy people, and a love story at that! Need I remind you guys that this was written from the perspective of a 17 year old girl? Sure it's about love, ...

unmatched clarity
Maybe once or twice in a generation, along comes a book of stunningly clear vision and earth-shaking gravity. This is such a book. YES, MUST READ. I am buying copies for anyone who is vaguely interested in how we got to the mess we're in.

Great book for people who have lost a child
It was surprising to know that the author hadn't actually lost a child. His emotions were so authentic. I would recommend this book for anyone who has lost someone close...especially those of us who are bereaved parents.

A Fascinating, Clearly Written Sports History
Growing up in Irving, TX., home of the Texas Stadium, I was hooked as a Cowboys fan at a young age. My three most vivid childhood memories: Super Bowl XXVII The Thanksgiving Snow Game (Which I am told I cried about all day) Super Bowl XXVIII What I didn't, and couldn't, grasp at a young age (5 for XXVII) was the greatness of the team, or really understand the intricacies of the seasons. ...

An inspiring true story...
This book is an amazing account of what one person can do to change the world. For me, it was interesting to learn about how one can promote peace through education, by changing the way people perceive things. Too often, innocent lives are lost because of ignorance and intolerance. Greg Mortenson is an example to all of us.

this title is the best
Enjoyed the book very much. It should touch all that read it, and give a sense of what is important to each of us. Remember all we have is family in the end and should try to be as close as we can.

Should be required reading for high school and college
Riveting story. The information is well referenced and credible. I am wondering why we have not heard a peep from the Obama campaign about this book? Why is it that the only way I heard anything about this book was because I listen to conservative talk radio? Hmm. None of my liberal friends have a clue about any of the information the author has shared with us. My friends generally get their ...

Very revealing!
Audition: A Memoir A very revealing life story of a celebrity! Once into the book, it was hard to put down as I learned more and more about her life. Her success now once again shows how you can do anything you put your mind and efforts to.

Don't miss out on this great book!
I stumbled upon Charlaine Harris' Sookie Stackhouse series by chance one day at the bookstore, and decided to give Dead Until Dark a shot; I was not disappointed! In Dead Until Dark, Harris introduces the reader to a world not too unlike our own save for one critical difference - vampires exist and have made their existence known to the world two years prior. Sookie Stackhouse is a small-town, ...

Another fine Sookie Stackhouse adventure
I just finished the fifth novel in the Southern Vampire Mysteries aka the Sookie Stackhouse novels so I'm a little behind in my reviewing. In one of the great happy circumstances of my life I had independently decided to read this series of novels AND to watch the new Alan Ball TV series, not knowing that the latter was based on the former. I had already ordered the first four novels in the ...

A wonderful follow up to the debut story
This is the second of the eight Sookie Stackhouse novels that have been published so far. I've made my way through the fourth and will start the fifth next week. I ordered the first four novels in the series after seeing them praised in a literary bibliography of vampire novels. The annotator liked them more than the comparable series by Anne Rice and Laurell K. Hamilton. Having read half of ...

Reagan Redux
I am sure that Naomi Klein would not imagine ever being lumped in with Ronald Reagan, but remembering Reagan, having read Shock Doctrine and watching what is happening right now -- October 1, 2008 -- with the U.S. Congress' attempt to bail out the American financial sector of its excesses, I think one of Reagan's famous quotes is applicable: "They're you go again!"

A Guide For LIFE!
A remarkable book that is capable of changing lives through changing consciousness. If more people read this book and BE, it really will be "A New Earth". I have found this book comprehensive in its drawing together of so many issues that plague humanity and giving clear guidance as to what to do (or not do) to get in touch with what is always there - our true inner essence. As a psychologist ...

Miracle Man
Perhaps one aspect of this book that bears further comment is how absolutely funny it is. The New York Times book-blog recently asked what the funniest novel ever written was, and in addition to the usual suspects (Catch-22, Infinite Jest, The Pocket Guide to Mischief), one reader suggested The Brief Wondrous Life. True that. In addition to being an excellent primer on the history of the ...
