Importance of epic heroism
There are many characteristics that define epic heroes. They are portrayed as larger than life characters who undergo many perils and temptations. The hero many have godlike features, however, he may also suffer a deep wound. Although epic stories are now very old, and their heroes gone, the virtuous attitudes of the hero teach us very important virtues in life. One important moral value that one ...

Unfortunatly...
Unfortunatly Morgan has not written a follow up to "Woken Furies." That is the only down side to an EXCELLENT book. Morgan continues the same standard of perfection as with the previous two books of the series. I have even gone as far to email Morgan and practically beg him to continue this series. Buy this book, and hope that Takeshi Kovacs makes a swift return!

A great followup to Morgan's Altered Carbon debut!
I was eager to get around to reading Broken Angels immediately after finishing Altered Carbon. While it's hard to top an original, Broken Angels comes very close to successfully doing that. Our anti-hero Takeshi Kovacs is back once again. This time resleeved as a warrior for hire on Sanction IV to help their government in putting down one of the bloodier revolutions in planet history. ...

Thankfully!
Oh, it is so refreshing to have someone see things as I do and agree with me. I have been on a 10 year search for the truth. Much of what is written in the book are things that I have known for some time. However, some of it was new. It's tough to take a stand when many people are ignorant of the facts. The book is very detailed and documents the specific locations when citing fact. It ...

Ernie Kovacs was a genius.
I know, we're reviewing the book and not the man, but it's pretty hard not to enjoy anything dealing with such a brilliant comedian as Ernie Kovacs. Even if it were just a dry accounting of facts, it would be interesting, because he was. However, it is very well-written and engaging. I don't know why Edie Adams refused to be interviewed for this book, because it certainly appears to be a ...

Fear death no more
Despite the popularity of shows such as "Crossing Over with John Edwards (no, not Kerry's running mate, who shows no signs of crossing over)," Western society seems to have forgotten Rainer Maria Rilke's belief that the afterlife and the living life interact, and as Antoine de Saint-Exupéry wrote in THE LITTLE PRINCE, "What is essential is invisible to the naked eye." It took the death of ...

A phenomenological approach to studying botany
In the Waldorf education movement botany is introduced to children in the 5th grade. Charles Kovacs takes a Goethean approach to the study of botany and as is true with most subjects taught within our curriculum, we teach from the whole to the parts. This book will begin by teaching the children how plants relate to the earth and to the sun as well as to insects. The study appeals to children by ...

Spectacularly good SF
I've been reading SF since back in the 50s, and have watched the Old Masters gradually die off, with me losing more interest in the genre with each passing year. This book has re-kindled my early enthusiasm, and makes up for the dreary stuff I've fought through. The cortical stack conceit is novel and astonishing, and the character is superb. Read it!
