My Mom bought it for me to use in my freshman year and now I'm buying it for my son as he heads off to college. Still a wonderful tool.

The Best of Class
The Modern Language Association has developed a crisp contemporary style with ready application well beyond the realms of modern literature. The style is an evolution of Chicago style. The reference format for the "Works Cited" in MLA-speak, are virtually indistinguishable from those in Chicago-style bibliographies. However, MLA has added a unique parenthetical "author-page" citation to ...

Inspiring and helpful
This is one of the few education books that I really looked forward to reading and learning more about the philosophy. Even if your school has a set idea of how Language Arts/Reading periods should look, there are some fabulous theories and strategies that can be implemented!

Great Tool for Your Writing
I am excited to use the MLA tools in this pocket guide for writing my college papers. There is so much in this little book, and was worth ever cent of my purchase. There are lots of little things that students forget like noun/verb agreement, and possession. It is very helpful, and every student should have this!

Great resource
I love this book!!!!!!!!!! It really helps me keep all the verb tenses and spelling changes straight. It is a godsend whenever I am dealing with an irregular verb. I also like that it has a ton of other common verbs in the back. Even thou they aren't conjugated, it is still helpful to see what verb they resemble and what they mean. I would definitely recommend this book.

A Rare Gem!
Winner of the 2007 International IMPAC Dublin Literary Award, Out Stealing Horses is a magical novel that captivated me from the first few pages. It is one of those rare books that merits rereading. The story is set in Norway. It is the story of a 67 year old man named Trond Sander who, having suffered a terrible loss, retreats to an isolated forest cabin. The run down cabin needs lots of work ...

The best endorsement is that my students loved it.
I used "They Say/I Say" with my composition students in the Spring semester of 2008. Frankly, I had some reservations because the department required a fairly expensive handbook, and this would be an add-on. On the plus side, it was brief enough to go over thoroughly and was not too expensive. I thought it would be useful if students read it. As usual, I made assignments in the book, and we ...

Great little pocket dictionary for those who don't want to carry around a heavier full-sized eng/span diction. It's not 'quite' as complete, but it's about 99% there. It's going to have all of the important words

Excellent resource
Although there are many books on writing research or term papers, I have not found anything else which brings together material on planning, reasoning and writing the research paper as well as this book. Ignore any reviewers who make this book out to be a simplistic text. It is an excellent work on well reasoned writing that even most graduate students can benefit greatly from reading. As a ...

A total must-read
Reading this book has changed my perception of people's actions overnight. One thing that struck me was that Sigmund Freud was right about how much we think about sex (though he isn't mentioned in this book) - there is a lot of consideration of a future mating partner (I use the word 'mating' because this book references a lot of primates' actions as a pre-evolutionary version of ours) as we ...

Helpful
This was quite helpful while taking a journalism course. It takes a few minutes to understand the layout of the book to lookup things, but once you get it, it's easy. I think this book helped raise me a letter grade in my course. Anyone taking a journalism course with a strict professor or planning on entering journalism should get a copy. My textbook had a reference in it, but it was ...

This book works for me on many levels. It was great fun to read the many thoughtful reviews and comments here on Amazon. I found the Reviews of Charlus, Stanley H. Very useful for homeschoolers too...
My children attended a public school where this program was used. When I brought them home due to their various LDs/allergies, I balked at the $40 price tag of this book and opted for the less expensive Spectrum Spelling books for their grade level. I found those to be rather annoying because often my children already knew the words. And the ones they didn't know, they would spell correctly on ...

I actually do speak well in spanish, but I needed a few brush ups. I absolutely think this is the easiest and most user friendly book out there. My co workers always come in to use it. If you want to have something handy in case your stuck with your spanish than this is the one. Very user friendly and easy to understand.
