Fitness for Boredom
Experience with book: 30 days Pros: Well-illustrated, detailed, informative Cons: It's a fitness book I have little authority upon which to base this review, having barely read it for my 2 credit-hour course. I therefore have few negative or positive statements to make about it, except that it is a great resource for beginning a personal fitness program, or just staying educated on the ...

Lifetimes
This is a really great book to get for children and to read to children. It explains life from birth to death on a level kids can relate to. When you are at a loss for words trying to figure out how to make a child understand, you need to read this book .

As an instructor
I have been teaching Speech Communication for over 17 years. I have taught a few other communication courses. It is not very often that Professors get to brag about a textbook. I recently had an opprtunity to visit one-on-one with the author. He is the "real deal" and so is the book! Long on substance and short on fluff. This is a book the students can truly learn from and one any teacher ...

"Simple but Profound"
I really enjoyed reading the book "The Referral of A Lifetime" By Tim Templeton. It was simple, almost common sense but truly profound. To quote the forward this book offers "simple truths and profound wisdom". What I really liked about this book was it does not try to tell people how they should be, it tells you that you should be yourself and work with what your particular style is. ...

Lifetime of Secrets
This book is delightful and moving. I love the artwork of the postcards and will go back again and again to just browse through them. The personal messages on each card are beautiful - some tragic and some funny but all very human. After I read this book I felt that we are not alone with our problems and struggles. We all have things that make us feel sad or ashamed.

The only poor review came from someone who did not read the book!
This is a great book that truely applies common sense to child upbringing and can be applied regardless of religious background. If you look at the all of the reviews from the one individual who gave a poor review, it looks like he did a topic search and left a bad review for any book he thought came from a Christian about child rearing. Although I have not read the other books that he gave ...

Case of a Lifetime: A Criminal Defense Lawyer's Story

a moving story
This is an incredible book which shows the real problems with the criminal justice system. The reviewer who criticizes Ms. Smith for believing in her client's innocence has clearly missed the point. Most criminal defense attorneys would find it much easier to defend a guilty client, and in fact some of the most skeptical people I have ever met are public defenders. The most important thing ...

Tools I wouldn't trade
If you're not experiencing turbulence and dynamic change, you must not be paying attention. The tectonic plates of human endeavor are shifting. As Nick Lore notes in his seminal work, The Pathfinder, we're witnessing an unprecedented explosion of career options and the old ways - serendipity, tradition, dumb luck - of choosing or re-choosing which career might fit are no longer sufficient. ...

First time in 44 years I fell good with dieting
It really is true that if you follow the food pyramid for your dominant gland that the foods will eliminate your cravings while dieting. I have done every diet that one could find on this planet, even "lifetime member" at weight watchers but I alwasy was fighting food cravings. read the preface for goodness sake
I haven't reviewed a book in a long time because customer reviews so often annoy me. Now I'm writing this one because another one has. Another reveiwer here criticizes The New Lifetime Reading Plan and its predecessors for not including the Bible. That would be a good criticism indeed if not for this sentence from the preface to the book, " We assume that nearly every reader of this book will ...

So good, I read it twice!
Roger Housden uses a unique format: he chose 11 superb poems, and followed each by his own commentary and fascinating anecdotes. In addition to offering works by famous poets, such as Billy Collins, John Keats, and Mary Oliver, he introduces readers to the marvelous poetry of relatively obscure modern poets. Dorianne Laux once thought of taking her own life but was kept alive by the kindness of ...

A Companion for Life
One of the fascinating things about self-help books is the multitude of styles that authors use to contribute to the field. Some books take a single area and drill down deep; while others cover the waterfront, but in less depth. And, some books stretch ones thinking by the volume of thoughts presented; while others create value by providing an easily remembered analytical framework. This book ...
