Superb
This book is great for self learning!, most of the theorems are explained in a very good way (a little too good and normally a little to hard to understand the first time) the examples are clear and the exercises are neither easy nor difficult (well some of them are difficult, but not all of them). I already had 2 teachers that told me they learned from this book... it's true that almost all the ...

Incredible book
I purchased this book for my mother who has had problems with back pain for years. She had been to the chiropracter, physical therapist and neurosurgeon with no improvement. After working her way through the book she is markedly improved. Wonderful pictures, easy to follow. I recommend it for all with this problem.

A new rewiring of the brain of physicsts
This book tells the story of the "battle" between the author and Stephen Hawking regarding the latter claim that information is irretrievably lost in black holes. This story is the extraordinary account of the paradigm shift that has occurred in physics in the last 25 years. Moreover, the book reads like a novel thanks to the various analogies and the anecdotes concerning the lives and ...

good book
If this were not a required textbook for my engineering course, I would not have purchased it. I did, however, and have since found it to be of the same high quality as other textbooks by Beer and Johnston. The explanations are clear, the worked examples are helpful in illustrating concepts, and the problems reinforce what has (or should have) been learned.

simple, accurate, complete and easy to understand
I'm currently studying to be a yoga instructor and this book is an amazing guide to understand body movement. I highly recomend it. Drawings are very accurate and clear. Explanations are shorts and simple. You can read it in any order you want. Most of all I become more aware of what is doing what in my practice and hope with this I will reduce risques of injury and will help to achieve a ...

Rating of the 1 st edition book and the author
My discussion here is a rating of the 1st edition and the author, Professor R.C. Hibbeler. The first edition is the one I used in my course of study while in college. Granted the book does not offer a lot of complicated examples, only relatively easy ones. But there is a reason. The author wants the student to develop his/her own skills in problem solving. He does explain the material in ...

Tip-Top
This was a text in my master's program, I now work developing education programs for personal trainers and use Neumann's book as a prime reference. The author does an excellent job of describing how muscles function in vertical, upright movements as opposed to how they are often described from a horizontal, supine position on a table. This book is a must-have reference for any fitness ...

great text
I took a course in Thermo as an undergrad, but I basically just learned how to solve the textbook problems to the point where I was able to pass the tests, but I never got a good intuitive understanding of the subject. My major was EE so one term of Thermo was a required course but not in the mainstream of my studies, so I never needed to understand it in any greater depth. I recently ...

A foundation book for the subject
In my search for books on engineering and physics, I must say this book is great for those of us garage-gadgeteers that need a little mathematical direction for design. The book is absolutely loaded with picture illustrations that depict the physics/fluid mechanics formulas in discussion. It's hard for someone to grasp concepts when all you have to look at is a bunch of numbers, graphs or ...

Best textbook I've ever had
Simple, concise, great examples, great illustrations, great problems. The style is: present a topic briefly, derive equation(s) quickly, show 3-4 examples of using said equation(s), give a couple dozen problems, and move right on to the next topic. Thanks Mr. Hibbeler, for making engineering students' lives just a bit easier.

Great Book
I don't usually write reviews of books that I have purchased but I felt that I had to for this one. Does a great job in explaining the concepts and doesn't leave you lost as it moves through the chapters. It is written clearly and very easy to follow. The answers(not the worked out solutions) are avaliable on the company's website. (....)

Comprehensive and Enlightening
This is a comprehensive, enlightening and reader-friendly textbook on mechanics of materials. This excellent book is full of worked examples, illustrations and equations to help students relate to the fundamental concepts in mechanics of materials. The book provides a great foundation in this subject for undergraduate engineers. The book is well organized and well written with clear and easy to ...

Engineering mechanics by Meriam and Kraige provides an excellent treatment of the subject matter, providing that one has all the necessary tools to handle this course. This means to have your geometry, algebra, trig., physics, and calculus internally wired. If not, one has to do the deep reviews, spending time and energy at grasping the basic concepts. Also, if the discussion of the ...

Quite good approach to understand networks.
Before reading this book, I didn't know that Networks theories are with us since serveral decades. I'm almost finishing it, but I couldn't wait to write something about the book; specially to recommend you to buy it! Barabasi work is really great. His redaction skills are as good that people without mathematics or science knowledge can understand and deeply learn Networks theory.

The book is so good you can teach yourself
This textbook is one of the best I've ever used. Incropera and DeWitt do a great job of explaining convection, conduction, and radiation. I have heard that the mass transfer portion of the book is lacking however, I am an ME major so its not an issue. The covering of conduction is especially good, it goes into great detail math wise although its well presented so you don't have to be a ...

This book literally saved me in quantum mechanics. Between my professor's willingness to help introduce us students to many of the challenges faced by quantum theory today and this book's ability to quickly and painlessly explain many of the concepts behind QM I actually enjoyed learning this subject. The book not only has great explanations of numerous concepts essential to QM but always ...

Great tool for yogi's and teachers of yoga.
I was introduced to this dvd in a teachers yoga class recently. I think it is an invaluable tool for anyone teaching and/or doing yoga. It explains the different "looks" of the asanas and why that is. It will prevent many practitioners from hurting themselves or others trying to acquire a position they are physically incapable of.

Unique!
This is definitely the most comprehensive book ever published on theoretical physics, written by one of the most influential theoretical physicists alive! But the reader should be forewarned : it is not easy reading, even if one skips the maths, as Penrose suggests in the Introduction... Now, if one wants to understand everything, then it becomes really challenging, and I don't think many ...
