The Melting Pot
The stories in this book are so familiar to me because my grandmother remembers these same things. She was so excited when I read the book to her. She loved it and I loved sharing it with her.The recipes are similar to dishes she has cooked all my life. She also came from the "Old Country". ( Germany)

The Complete Guide to Portugese Water Dogs
This book is my bible when it comes to this excellent breed of dog. I am so proud to own 2 of this fine breed. This book has been able to answer all my question from care of my new litter of pups to my very first interest of where these dogs came from. "All that is necessary for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing."
Albert Stohl did a great deal more than nothing and yet this book made me empathize with him. Anyone who has ever wondered how the holocaust could have happened with the complicity of an entire nation needs to read Melting Point. "Those who cannot learn from history are doomed to repeat it" Read this book and learn.

Great guide to underrated Queens dining scene
Organized by ethnic cuisine, this book is a wonderful guide to the vast restaurant scene in Queens, which is underrepresented in both restaurant guides and the New York media. The author has included descriptions of the various cuisines and dishes, and also contact information and easy to follow directions for how to get to each restaurant. I highly recommend this book for anyone who loves to ...

Snow Melting in a Silver Bowl
In today's fast paced world, we do not seem to have the time to slow down and devote a small part of our day to just ourselves. Everyone else wants or needs us, yet we sometimes cannot see how much we need to understand our own self and make time just for ourselves. I loved this book because of the simplicity of the small things we could stop and do each day - just for ourselves. I kept reading ...

Stewing in the Melting Pot: The Memoir of A Real American
A heartfelt auto-biography about the author's childhood years growing up in an American-cultured orphanage as a Mexican with no chance to explore his Mexican heritage; causing self-loathing and anger to get in the way of finding who he really is as a person. Sharing his experiences with the reader on growing up at the orphanage must have taken enormous courage: tactfully and fairly telling the ...

Outstanding Portrait of Colonial Ethnicity
The title is a clever pun on the Nathan Glazer and Daniel Patrick Moynihan work, Beyond the Melting Pot, which is a history of ethnic groups in modern New York. Joyce D. Goodfriend offers an excellent discussion of ethnicity in colonial New York. She examines patterns of officeholding, occupation, intermarriage and church attendance among various ethnic groups over several generations. While ...

good for elementary ESL class
This book uses only one verb, but it uses that verb in both singular and plural form. As such, it is good for demonstrating that the verb ends with an s for plural but not for singular. For a lesson on other verb tenses, you can read the book, changing the verb tense accordingly. If you would also like other books using only one verb, here are a few other nuggets from the same author and ...

a much needed and very helpful book
There is SO much emphasis today on HOW to improve worship (methodology), but so little available which focuses on the biblical teaching and examples regarding worship. This book has been of great help to our church, and I very highly recommend it to every pastor, worship leader, and any believer, as an excellent tool to better understand the various aspects of public worship from a biblical ...

Good foundry book in general for the small shop
I run a small aluminum foundry. This book has proved to be invaluable. Much about blending sand and different alloys. Also includes sections on homemade foundry furnaces. I wish I had read this part when I was making my furnaces. Lots of practical advice.

Entertaining
Cleo Dare's book Melting Point is fun to read - seeing women in roles of artists, laborers, very strong characters all. It is also nice to see lesbians portrayed as normal human beings with joys and problems and attitudes like 'straights', and not like otherworldly freaks. My copy was signed by Cleo in November 04. She is a wonderful, strong woman who I am proud to know.

Thrift Shop Book
Okay, one of my favorite things to do is go to thrift stores and buy used books there because they are like 50 cents each or sometimes 4 for a dollar or something like that. Well, yesterday I went to one and bought a ton of books (and half of them were romance novels) and "Melting Ice" just happened to be in there. Well, this one sounded like the most interesting one so I read it first. It ...
