from Grandma Poss
Delightful book with illustrations that takes kids 3-6 on an imaginative trip to Australia. I could identify with the main character, "Grandma Poss."

A rare Fifth Star simply for its place in history.
Finally we may play with the "building blocks of matter" we've been hearing so much about. Here is an instruction manual, detailing the Elements, and their Interactions, while at the same time suggesting possible Design Models for construcion. Curious about the subject? Start with Drexler's Engines of Creation, instead. Maybe some other collections of theoretical applications to whet your ...

A great bedtime book
My 2 year old son loves this book. Great illustrations, just enough words to tell the story but not get too boring, lots of things to discover and point out in the pictures.

Sweet bedtime reading for toddlers
We recently bought this book for our 15-month old and he loves it. The illustrations are lovely, the narrative is sweet and melodic, and it is short enough to be a book that holds his attention start to finish even when he is tired. A lovely find!

Wonderful book
This is a wonderful story! My mom brought it back from Australia for my daughter and ever since it has been one of her favorites and a bed-time staple! It tells the story of Koala Lou who enters a Bush Olympics competition to win her mother's affection. She trains really hard, but she doesn't win. In the end, her mother lets her know that she loves her, win or lose, just because she exists, ...

We Love Who You Are, Mem Fox.
I owned this book before I even had children. I used it in the classroom as a teaching tool. To drive the point home, I would have the children try to mix piant together to make their shade of skin pigment. They were amazed at how no one is white, and no one is black. This book is an example that we are different, but we aren't alone...There are others like us. We ARE all the same inside... ...

Best in this field
This is a great book, providing relatively unbiased information compared to what you normally get in RF MEMS. There are some sections that could be better, but this is overall the best book you can currently get in this field.

Great for the 100th day of school!
I use this book as part of my 100th day of school celebration. It helps my k students to have empathy for the elderly. We also discuss what they may look like when they are 100. Wonderful illustrations - typical Mem Fox style - perfect! Love it!

A lovely Christmas tale with an Australian flavour
Wombat Divine is an Australian Classic and in my opinion one of Mem Fox's best. My family now own hundreds of childrens' picture books, but this was the first one I ever bought my son. It still remains a firm favourite with us. The illustrations are delightful, as is the story. It's a must have for the Christmas book collection - something a little different and makes a great gift. You ...

Excellent book on the seminal research and development.
Dr. Trimmer's book is a wealth of articles from the early days of MEMS. I highly recommend it for any serious students and professionals in the field. For the student it provides insights into the original research and development. The first, and perhaps most significant paper that I recommend for students is "Microrobots and Micromechanical Systems" beginning on page 96. An understanding ...

The Bible of All Scanning Electron Microscopy Books
If you are like me and had to use a Scanning Electron Microscope or SEM, you want to start with the basics that everyone goes by. This book is a safe bet that most everyone knows about. Plus, it is written with very little background in the world of electron microscopy. Too many authors to list but it's wonderful that alot of experts got together to present this material in clear, concise ...

Great things in *very* small packages...
It's *amazing* what you can find in the "For Dummies" series... :) I've always enjoyed the Dummies series, especially when it comes to a complex subject where "I don't know what I don't know". A book that can explain the subject in simple terms gives me the mental framework on which to build my learning. This book is a perfect example... Nanotechnology For Dummies by Richard Booker and ...

Great rhythmic book for young listeners (and readers)
"Boo to a goose" is a refreshingly silly book that's fun to read to kids. The structure is very repetitive, so they know exactly when to say that they "wouldn't say boo to a goose," and all of the other, braver things that they would do instead are funny to slightly older kids too. The explanation of why the storyteller is scared of geese comes suddenly at the end, and wraps it up nicely (and in ...

Thank you, Mem and Helen, for coming out of retirement one last time!
Dear little babies with their characteristically busy little fingers and stubby little playdough toes delight the reader with their realism. Thank you, Helen Oxenbury! A singalong rhythm that is "easy to read to" encourages the listener to join in after a couple of repeats. Thank you, Mem Fox! Being a children's librarian is all about trial and error. You think a book is going to make for a good readaloud during your storytime, but then you find that it's either too long or too boring or the wrong age level for your group or any other millions of reasons why you've failed to capture your audience's attention. This situation happens with even the best of authors. It does not happen, ...
