Best dive guide for Micronesia
I went back and bought 2 more for my travel companions! We just came back from Truk & Yap and I never saw my book, it was traveling around our group so much! We are planning to return to Palau, so I bought extra copies as self defense! The best dive guide I have found to the islands.

Good quick reference
This small pocket guide provides a nice basis for beginning fish ID or a handy guide easy to carry in your scuba gear bag. It's small size, which makes it easily transportable and a nice quick reference also makes it necessarily somewhat limited in scope.

GOOD OVERVIEW
This is a great general introduction to Micronesia. I have sent the book to my friends several times, and as they came out to Saipan, they were able to experience on the "Island Hopper" Continental flight, places such as Pohnpei, Chuuk, and later on Yap and Palau. Good explanation of what to expect, what to see, and tips on making your trip relaxing and beneficial. I thought it was well done ...

Good Read...
I happened to come across this book while actually in Koror, Palau (Koror was the capital of the Nan'yo, the Japanese governing body for Micronesia) during a vacation and read it while I was there. In general, it is worth reading if you are are a student of Japan's occupation policies of southeast asian countries during the war. It is very detailed but could have focused more on military ...

The Pacific Arts of Polynesia and Micronesia embraces the whole spectrum of Polynesian and Micronesian art forms--from tattooing to musical instruments--while including a focus on contemporary arts of the region. What's special about this book is that it looks at the arts of Polynesia and Micronesia side-by-side rather than seperately, illuminating the artistic types, styles, and concepts that ...

Palau resident
I've been living in Palau for over four years and finally got to reading this book. What a pleasure to sit on my balcony in the warm air reading this brilliant book. A really good laugh at times. I have a nightmare that I will leave Palau and then not find my way back. This book is about someone who faces that nightmare. Wonderful insights, of course things move along and Palau is not the Palau ...
Understanding Law in Micronesia: An Interpretive Approach to Transplanted Law (Studies in Human Society, Vol ...
Brian Z. Tamanaha
Brill Academic Publishers
, 1993
This book examines law in Micronesia from a novel perspective. It draws upon several branches of interpretive analysis, including mundane phenomenology, symbolic interaction, and cultural hermeneutics, to construct a comprehensive approach to transplanted systems of state law. Rather than the usual focus on legal norms and institutions, this approach directs attention to the law-related meaningful actions and understandings of ...

American Ideology and Foreign Policy
"Remaking Micronesia" is first of all a text that provokes a long-hard look at the ghetoization of the Pacific by US ideology and foreign policy; it is not for bureaucrats from Washington DC who think "upstreaming" veterans with fading memories out of Florida would help resolve issues of military occupation and Cold War rhetoric (this, in response to the first review on these pages). In there, ...
