Great Reference
This is the best all around text I have found on microfluidics. It has a lot of comprehensive informaion on fabrication techniques while still providing all of the necessary theoretical background. It also has a lot of good examples and discussions of many of the common applications of the field. If you get one book on microfluidics, it should be this one.

Packed with information for a wide range of readers
This book is essential reading for all stakeholders in an ASP scenario: providers, clients, and investors/venture capitalists. The reasons for this bold statement are: - PROVIDERS: Chapters 3 (Understanding ASP), 5 (Network Computing and ASP Architectures), 8 (ASP Security Services), and 10 (ASP Enabling: Requirements and Fulfillment) cover the critical success factors that the ASP needs to ...

Another "Inside the Minds" Winner
Reading this book not only provided me with a new perspective on the people leading me, but also provided me with a powerful reference for explaining my issues to them to make our cooperative work more effective. Also, it has provided me with a foundation on which to build my movement towards becoming a technical leader as a VP/Head of Development, CTO or CIO. Once again, this peer into the ...

Excellent technical manual.
This is an excellent manual on how to use the Federation and SAML features developed for Sun Microsystems' Access Manager server. In addition to explaining these functions, the book also has an overview of the Liberty Alliance Project and specifications from which these aspects were developed. The writing is concise and well-organized. And, for once, the index is quite useful. (Ever try using the ...

Really usefull!!
I've been thinking about deploying LDAP in the Solaris Environment and last year I bought a previous version of this book (ASIN: 0130306789 ), but it was really a disappointing experience. The book was telling mostly about what LDAP is, but not much about how to use it in Solaris. The new version is great. It tells you what you can use LDAP for, how to plan, deploy and support services. It ...

A course book with companion software
With background as a Unix user and system administrator in a small business, I have been looking more on Linux the latest year, and especial on using the JDS Linux. Though Sun's JDS user documentation has been available online on the web, a text book is something more. Therefore I was anxious when I started reading Exploring the JDS Linux Desktop by Tom Adelstein and Sam Hiser. The book is ...

best Java introduction book
After reading the first several chapters of the book, I know I must make a comment. This book is the BEST introduction to Java. I am a professor teaching JAVA programming in a university. I have read at least 20+ java books. Most of the java books are just cliche and screen dumps that make me bored after the first chapter. Not this book! Peter van Linden is one the most talented technicle ...

THIS is the JSP/Servlet book you are looking to buy.
I searched at a great many titles including a couple of duds before I finally settled on Marty Hall's book. Perhaps it was the "More" part that made me wonder if I would be missing something....like this was part two. As it turns out, that could not have been further from the truth and IMHO, although the titles is correct, it is a bit of a misnomer due to that misperception. This really is ...

Required Reading
Superb writing style (even funny). Comprehensive coverage for beginner through intermediate user. Good introduction to StarOffice Basic programming. (None of my MS Office books is so well written.) StarOffice 5.2 is a fantastic office suite (for Linux and MS Windows) at a fantastic price. The only way to learn the hundreds of SO features is with a book like this. Otherwise you'll never know the ...

Great Introduction and reference
I bought this book about two months ago when my company was starting a J2ME project. I read the first 6 chapters page for page as an introduction and then used the rest of the book as a reference. I now consider myself a proficient J2ME programmer. I've used the book mostly as a reference and I have found that the way the chapters are laid out makes it very easy to find whatever information ...

Excellent way to learn StarOffice
I am using StarOffice at work and attempted to learn it with the manual that came with it but that did not cover the things I needed. I like the Companion better, because of course it covers more topics and because it is organized in a logical way for learning the product from the beginning. The first chapter for each application starts with simple basics like creating a new file and opening ...

33 missing pages!
After about a month of ownership, I discovered that 33 pages were missing. That's right, pages 547-578, gone. Page 546 is in Chapter 15, ending in the middle of a class listing, and the facing page is page 579 in Chapter 16, picking up in the middle of an entirely different conversation. That's assumedly the publisher's fault, so I still give this great book 5 stars. It's more of a reference ...

This book doesn't belong on your bookshelf it belongs on your desk beside your workstation. Mr. Packer's clarity, conciseness and comprehensiveness in his coverage of a complex topic is a tour de force that few technical writers are able to achieve these days. Written for an intelligent reader in mind, the subject matter is explained simply, directly and elegantly. No profusions of analogies, ...

Very scary diary of security problems
Reading this book should scare you to the ends of your toenails. It is largely a recapitulation of security audits done by McCarthy with some other instances of security breaches added in to further emphasize an already well made point. Namely, that computer security, even among many of the heavy hitters, is very unorganized and inadequate. The author was able to sit down at terminals and obtain ...
