I was enchanted with the book
I was enchanted with the book, "God's Middle Finger", specifically the insight into the Mexican people and their mores. My first Mexican adventure began with naivety in 1969. We, dictionary in hand, aimlessly drove the country winding up on the southern coast of Oaxaca where I live today. I particularly appreciated vernacular translations I received it on my Kindle in Oaxaca. Wow

There is life after youth!
It is nice to know that life is not over after the start of wrinkles and grey hair. In this youth oriented society it is good to get validated in the belief that those of us in the autumn or even winter of our lives need not fear getting cast aside and relegated to the junk heap! I am in my early seventies and am having a great time! Barbara Strauch has done an amazing amount of research and ...

Great book for educators to have on their shelves!
I work in education and that's why I picked up this book at the library. I wish I had HAD this book before I started Middle School. This book talks about lockers, and friends, and almost everything else you can think of for starting M.S. The quizzes were fun for me to take, and this book was fun for me to read even as an adult! If your daughter is starting M.S. get her a copy of this book! Def. ...

A Shift in Teaching
Atwell's research and dedication to the true teaching of literacy in classrooms of all levels has changed my philosophy of teaching forever. Those who judge her approach without attempting to understand it, are only missing out on an innovative and fresh approach to how English should be taught. In my own classroom of tenth graders, I have gone from yawns and glazed eyes to students who leave ...

Honest and authentic
Brutally honest, unashamed chronicle of a young wife and mother's battle with breast cancer while her beloved father fights his own cancer battle. She doesn't shrink from the truth even when it casts her in an unflattering light. Great compelling book! Recommended to a breast cancer survivor and she thought it was terrific!

Helped me a great deal
I used about 80% of the ideas in this book back in December, and lost 15 lbs. My clothes fit better, and I feel great! I'm not one who necessarily "buys" any particular idea. Rather, I think it is best to read a lot of things, including things I disagree with, and form my own opinion. I don't believe everything that Dr. Eades has to say, but most of his ideas make sense to me. For me, ...

An impressive and substantial work of seminal scholarship
America's military, financial, and cultural involvement with the Middle East is as on-going as it is problematic both in terms of suppressing attacks on America targets and our economic reliance on Middle Eastern petroleum resources. Yet before the emergence of a beligerant and violent Muslim extremism that led to attacks on the American homeland, most Americans know very little about the history ...

Great book for teachers
I am not a person fond of reading "help" or statistical or "you should do this to have a perfect classroom" books... This book is an exception. It is easy and quick reading. It gives numerous, fun-to-read examples of real experiences, suggestions and ideas. I would definitely recommend this book for middle school teachers that haven't been very long in the field.

This book is a riot!
Ginny Davis keeps a journal throughout her year in seventh grade, and what she writes and adds to it is all the reader gets. She includes random thoughts, report cards, comics, post-it notes, and more...all of which help tell her story. Seventh-grade is certainly not what Ginny had hoped it would be! Not only does she have problems in school, but she also has trouble in dance class. Home ...

I purchased the book at a conference several years ago. I thought it was about "mid-life" crisis and maybe I could use it to help someone else. Paul Tripp touches every aspect of aging, mental, physical, and emotional. I have bought the book for every friend I have over 40. I recommend it highly. It was delightful, insightful, and unbelievably encouraging to me.
