3rd Degree (The Women's Murder Club)197 reviews
James Patterson, Andrew Gross

Grand Central Publishing, 2005

My favorite of the series!
I'm reading the entire series and to date, 3rd Degree was the most shocking and also my favorite of the series to this point. I was sad when it ended and within hours had my nose in 4th of July to continue the story. This is for the series of books as a whole, I'm so very glad I picked up that first book. They are all good and there has been no disappointment.

Murder on the Orient Express (Hercule Poirot Mysteries)213 reviews
Agatha Christie

Berkley, 2004

A classic murder mystery
This is a classic murder mystery, and the details are well known to readers, i.e., a man murdered on a train trapped by a snowstorm. I watched a film adaptation on PBS. It is an excellent story that keeps you guessing to the end about people's identities and motives. The film ended with Poirot facing a moral dilemma, and as he walks off you are not entirely sure what he has done. Well written ...

The 8th Confession (Women's Murder Club)152 reviews
James Patterson, Maxine Paetro

Grand Central Publishing, 2010

The 8th confession
The book is a typical James Patterson thriller. I can't say enought about his books. They keep you turning the pages to see what is next. I recommend this book.

The 6th Target (The Women's Murder Club)175 reviews
James Patterson, Maxine Paetro

Vision, 2008

Reading with Tequila
The 6th Target shocks right at the start and the action runs full steam to the very end. It's quite possible that this book actually has too much going on with three different cases combined with lots of personal drama between Lindsey and Joe all happening at once. The overload of cases means an overload of people (suspects, victims, lawyers, and witnesses among others) to keep track of. Even ...

2nd Chance (The Women's Murder Club)278 reviews
James Patterson

Grand Central Publishing, 2005

Hooray for The Women's Murder Club
Another riveting, mindbending thriller from the women's murder club,by way of Mr. Patterson. An unusually calculated serial killer is on the loose and he's clever. His targets seem to have nothing in common, but the heroine, Detective Lt.Boxer, thinks differently. The F.B.I. becomes involved but they're on the wrong track. You'll never guess whodunit until maybe the very end. Mr. Patterson's ...

1st to Die (The Women's Murder Club)574 reviews
James Patterson

Grand Central Publishing, 2005

Whose the first to die?
Fast moving, action packed yet very in tune with human emotions. James Patterson has done it again. You never know what's going to happen next. The story is about a honeymoon serial killer and what makes him tick. It is also about the friendship of four professional women who form a murder club to help solve these crimes. These ladies, one of which is the detective in charge, also have to deal ...

The Murder of Roger Ackroyd: A Hercule Poirot Mystery (Agatha Christie Collection)142 reviews
Agatha Christie

Black Dog & Leventhal Publishers, 2006

Not the Butler this time!
If you like detective stories and mysteries, this is as good as it gets. Only Dame Christie's other great work And Then There None (also known as 12 Little Indians) is comparable for unexpected plot twists, great complex characters, and a unique approach to a worn out genre. This Hercule Poirot mystery starts out like all the others. The Lord of the manor is murdered in his home, with ...

Joanne Fluke

Kensington, 2007

Love This Series
All the Hannah Swenson Mysteries are wonderful they are light hearted make you smile mysteries "cozy mysteries" (not scary, gory, or sad) but they are actually really good "keep you guessing" mysteries. I have read the first four and have now bought all Hannah books and anthologies for my Kindle, I just cannot put them down. Plus if you are someone who likes to bake you will love all the recipes ...

Murder City: Ciudad Juarez and the Global Economy's New Killing Fields21 reviews
Charles Bowden

Nation Books, 2010

A Gritty, Poetic Journey Into A Ravaged City And Our Own Future.
"Murder City" by Charles Bowden is a visceral, gritty journey into the chaos and violence that has gripped the Mexican border city of Ciudad Juarez since 2008. Juarez has always been a dangerous town, but since Mexican president Felipe Calderon unleashed the nation's military on his own people, it has turned into a wasteland of murder, rape, crime and terror. Bowden chronicles the city's downfall ...

The Murder of King Tut: The Plot to Kill the Child King - A Nonfiction Thriller111 reviews
James Patterson, Martin Dugard

Little, Brown and Company, 2009

Wonderful and exactly as described!
I loved the book and stayed up all night reading because I couldn't put it down - even though I knew the basics of Tut and Carter. Patterson does a wonderful job of richly blending fact and fiction. Because I read the entire book, including Mr. Patterson's chapters on the writing process and his own theory, I did not have as difficult time determining the difference between fact and fiction as ...

ABC Murders: A Hercule Poirot Mystery (Agatha Christie Collection)91 reviews
Agatha Christie

Black Dog & Leventhal Publishers, 2006

Her best
I'm am Agatha Christie Read-it-all. I have recently found 3 or 4 recently published AGatha Christie books to read. However none of them top The ABC Murders. It kept me up all night reading and after putting together all the clues, I still struggled to figure out who did it. Excellent. Ms Christie entertains and works your mind in this book. It is my favorite.

Expert in Murder, An: A Josephine Tey Mystery12 reviews
Nicola Upson

Harper Paperbacks, 2009

Wonderful use of Tey herself in a mystery
i have been reading and RE-reading Josephine Tey's mysteries for the last 40 years. I was skeptical about her appearance as a fictional character in a new mystery, but it WORKS. The story stands on its own, with no need to have read any of Miss Tey's own books. Quite delightful, with good plot twists and concealment of the criminal. I look forward to more books by this author.

Real Murders (Aurora Teagarden Mysteries, Book 1)53 reviews
Charlaine Harris

Berkley, 2007

Murder at the Club
Real Murders (1990) is the first mystery novel in the Aurora Teagarden series. It is set in the small town of Lawrenceton, Georgia, in the suburbs of Atlanta. The people living there are much like anyone else. Some are good, some bad and many somewhere in between. In this novel, Aurora Teagarden was born and raised in Lawrenceton. Roe is short -- 4'11" -- and is the only child of Aida. ...
