Everything I expected
Hey, it's a book on golf written by Bill Murray. I didn't expect an intense discussion on golf...I didn't expect an intense discussion on Bill's life. I expected a funny, witty, clever, and subtlely wise book about some of Bill's adventures and lessons learned from golf and life. And that's what I got. It's one of the few books I read from cover to cover in one sitting. It was that funny, witty, ...

A great, fun-to-read book
He certainly has personality flaw. The lack of integraty almost killed his political career. Nonetheless he is intelligent, ambitious, and very skillfully charming. Most would agree that his presidency was one of those made America better. I think his book is better than Hillary's. Hillary is goal-oriented, while Bill is fun-hunting. Hillary may enjoy the victory, and is very good in swallowing ...

Big-hearted Olympic hero tells his story
"Never Stop Pushing" is the autobiography of Rulon Gardner, who staged one of the biggest-ever upsets in Olympic history by defeating the long-standing Russian world champion Alexander Karelin in the 2000 Sydney Games Greco-Roman heavyweight wrestling final. Gardner's story shocked and surprised me since his gold-medal achievement makes up only part of the book. Instead, as Gardner himself ...

Top notch devotional for real women tied up in knots
When Did My Life Become a Game of Twister by Mary Pierce is a funny, brutally honest look at one woman's life and faith. Pierce is just like the rest of us: stressed out, running on empty, and wondering what happened to the life that she had planned. But she has hope for us all: a sense of humor and good relationship with God can get you through even the toughest spots. Again and again during ...

Should Be Required Reading
This is just an amazing story and J-Mac is an amazing person. This book should be required reading for grades 5 through 12. It would show "normal" children and young adults a view from the other side. Frankly, I believe this young man is the kind of "normal" that all people should strive toward. I highly recommend this book.

A Worthy Read
Dorothy Hamill reaches beyond the ice and shares with us the hard truths as well as the uplifting joys of her life. Ice skating is woven throughout her story as an integral part of who she is, and I came away with a new respect for the character strength Hamill practiced throughout as well as for the openness with which she addresses her readers. Were I to become a parent, I would like for my ...

Star Wars the way it should be written
I've read quite a few Dark Horse offerings in the continuing Star Wars line. To date, none has been as exciting as the first volume in the new Star Wars Rebellion series, "My Brother, My Enemy," set at the perfect time in the Star Wars chronology. Luke Skywalker has destroyed the Death Star and is the hero of the Rebellion, but the rebels are still on the run and Darth Vader is turning up every ...

A Great Buy for all
After buying a copy of this book for both myself and my father I was thoroughly impressed. The book was both an easy read yet very informative. I gave a copy of the book to my father, who is not one to read a book, and he was so taken back by how interesting he felt the content was. He picked up the book in the morning and had it finished by mid afternoon. He must have called me 15 times to ...

Running for my life
This book I will say has been one of the best I have read for a long time. Mr Dunn has been a hero of mine on and off the field for a long time too. The book was well written, for it repeating itself, I do not agree with that. I call it refreshing everyones memory. It was a very emotional book to read, I was crying and cheering as I read it. Even if you are not a NFL fan, it is a great book on ...

Pedroia is inspiring!
Pedroia is, in stature a small man for baseball, but wants more than anything to play ball all his life. He faces some unbelievable odds to get to the major leagues, and makes it. His courage and determination are inspiring! The chapters are separated with short write ups by those noteworthy people who have watched him work and grow into a major league player. Game of My Life: Atlanta Braves

Theirs was a prolonged run of excellence like none other in sports history. From 1991 through 2005, the Atlanta Braves won 14 consecutive division championships, a streak no team in professional sports has ever come close to approaching. Not the New York Yankees or the old Boston Celtics. Not Lombardi's Green Bay Packers or Montreal's flying French Canadiens. Beginning with the unexpected worst-to-first miracle of 1991, the Braves commenced an ...

OK Book on Life in the NFL
There probably isn't a boy in the USA that has not dreamed of playing in the NFL. Kids on the playground with a Nerf ball imitate the greats, Joe Montana, Brett Farve, Walter Payton, Steve Largent.... From our childhood, the idea of playing in the NFL is a romanticized notion that is pounded into our heads by parents, TV, and celebrity commercials. However, throughout our childhood and for ...

Using basketball as an agent of change!
Oscar Robertson tells it like it was as this book is as much about racism as it is about basketball. I played briefly against Oscar and we were both raised in the hot bed of Indiana basketball. Trying to become an accomplished player was one thing and dealing with discrimination back in the 1950s was quite another. Oscar tries to paint a picture for the reader showing what it was like to muster ...

A must-read for diehard Cardinal fans
I have a very large collection of baseball books, and this is one of my favorites. Admittedly, I am a lifelong Cardinal fan, but I found it fascinating the way Matthew Leach got players to tell exactly what was going through their heads at very crucial times: Adam Wainwright on striking out Carlos Beltran with that astounding curveball, Scott Rolen on competing against (and beating) Roger ...

Fascinating introspection
It is well-known that Cobb used this autobiography as a means to shape his public image in a manner consistent in which he viewed himself, a noble honorable gentleman of the wrongfully subjugated South striving to be the greatest ballplayer ever. He takes liberties with the truth frequently attempting to justify his behavior from a victim's position, wrongfully accused and persecuted. On the ...
