The Good Society: An Introduction to Comparative Politics (MyPoliSciKit Series)
Alan Draper

Ansil Ramsay
Longman

This thematic introduction to comparative politics, framed around and driven by the concept of "the good society," emphasizes institutions, draws on the United States for some of its comparisons, and includes a unique assortment of case studies -- touching on a range of countries from rich democracies to less-developed states -- to make abstract concepts concrete. The book's normative approach is a bold departure from other books as ...

Superb, Post 9-11 Update, Excellent Adult Foundation
First, it is vital for prospective buyers to understand that the existing reviews are three years out of date--this is a five-star tutorial on international relations that has been most recently updated after 9-11. If I were to recommend only two books on international relations, for any adult including nominally sophisticated world travelers, this would be the first book; the second would be ...

Textbook but doesn't read like one.
Got this for a required college course. Found it superbly readable. The authors don't write like textbook authors. They write like reporters who like to dig deep. If you're a news junky, get this book. If you're assigned it for college, be happy.

A good concept
You won't find this book generally in the bookstore, unless you're in the college bookstore, looking on the shelf marked 'Required'. Most likely you would never want to read this book even if it was required. Flipping through the table of contents and the pages, it screams textbook. It even has vocabulary words at the end of each chapter. How much more dry, dull, and boring can you get? Fr. ...

James N. Danziger
Longman
, 2008
Very Iformative + Easily Understood
In his book, Danziger does an excellent job in portraying the political world. One might argue that this is essentially what any other book on political science would do, and this true. However, Danziger manages to apply his own personal style to the work. His explanations are clear, and to the point. One of the major features of the book are the "boxes" that appear every so often. These usually ...

Very Intense and informative
The textbook "International Relations" provides an extremely indepth overview of world politics. It's interesting, but definitely not light reading. (At the moment, I'm still trying to get through chapter three.) I highly recommend it for anyone who is thinking of pursuing International Relations at the post secondary level, but would like to learn more about the actual topic first.
