Never Eat Alone: And Other Secrets to Success, One Relationship at a Time206 reviews
Keith Ferrazzi, Tahl Raz

Doubleday Business, 2005

I LOVE that book!
This is an amazing book that has done many things for me with the two most important: given me lots of ideas about marketing my business and validating personal ideas and business practices that I had. I also very much enjoyed reading this book: it's full of examples of people that I have hear of and can identify with, it's well written with few "repeats" and best of all, it almost reads like ...

CISSP Certification All-in-One Exam Guide, 4th Ed. (All-in-One)16 reviews
Shon Harris

McGraw-Hill Osborne Media, 2007

Wouldn't have passed without it!
I can honestly say that if it weren't for this book I probably would not have passed my CISSP exam. Unlike other prep-guides, Shon engages the reader and keeps their attention. Also, this book doesn't read like a "read this book and pass an exam" book. It reads like a security book which just so happens to teach you the contents of the CISSP CBK. Good work and congrats on the 4th edition.

The Tipping Point: How Little Things Can Make a Big Difference930 reviews
Malcolm Gladwell

Back Bay Books, 2002

A year later and I'm still marveling over this book!
I've heard Malcolm Gladwell speak, and he's superb! In this innovative book, whether he's referring to the Maven, or the Connector, it's relatable to all individuals. If you're looking for a light leadership book that brings up very INNOVATIVE topics, this is it! For additional tips on leadership, I'd also recommend taking a course at www.corporatetrendsetters.com.

Computer Networking: A Top-Down Approach (4th Edition)10 reviews
James F. Kurose, Keith W. Ross

Addison Wesley, 2007

One of the Best
"Computer Networking" by Kurose and Ross is an excellent introduction to the topic of computer networking as it relates to the largest and arguably most important network of them all: the internet. As stated in the title, the authors take a top-down approach that, in my opinion, is very well suited to CS or SE majors who are typically already familiar with aspects of the application and ...

How to Win Friends & Influence People610 reviews
Dale Carnegie

Pocket, 1998

A Must Read...
This is the roadmap and field book for developing and maintaining healthy and unselfish interactions with others. What does another person need to hear in the first 30-seconds to get their attention? Why should you see a situation from the other person's point of view and what will happen if you don't? This book is filled with real life vignettes that illustrate the power of having a winning ...

Just amazing... Both books, and the Video-Class... But it's not news, if we talking about CiscoPress, and Wendell Odom work. Certainly will help me to get my CCNA.

HTML, XHTML, and CSS, Sixth Edition (Visual Quickstart Guide)173 reviews
Elizabeth Castro

Peachpit Press, 2006

This is a Must have book!
If you want to learn HTML, XHTML, & CSS this is the book to get. It is easy to understand. You can use the book to actually do something useful. The book gives information on what to use to make your pages work in different browsers and also recommendations on the best way to accomplish a task. I have been using the book to update my web pages. This is a practical approach combing the elements ...

Catch-22823 reviews
Joseph Heller

Simon & Schuster, 1996

Great great book
This book is so good, my weak attempt at a review is not going to do it justice. But I'll try. I knew before I was half-way through that this is going to be a favorite and I plan to re-read it immediately. The writing is so fresh, the character studies so sharp, and the satire so relevant in today's increasingly bureaucratic (corporate) society, no wonder it was so hard for me to find a used ...

No B.S. Marketing to the Affluent: The No Holds Barred, Kick Butt, Take No Prisoners Guide to Getting Really ...17 reviews
Dan S. Kennedy

Entrepreneur Press, 2008

Dan has outdone himself with this latest book!
After having read most of Dan's previous books, I found this one to be one of the most valuable ones written. What separates this book from his other works was the amount of research that went into this book to back up the claims that he makes about the characteristics of affluent people. It's not that his other books were poorly researched, it's just that the research for this book was ...

Computer Networks: A Systems Approach, Fourth Edition (The Morgan Kaufmann Series in Networking)3 reviews
Larry L. Peterson, Bruce S. Davie

Morgan Kaufmann, 2007

Great textbook
I've read all of the standard CS networks textbooks for both undergrad and grad classes. This one is my favorite as both an introduction to networking and as a reference for graduate coursework. The new 4th edition updates and expands coverage in the 4 years since the 3rd edition was covered. Highly recommended.

A+ Certification All-in-One Exam Guide, Sixth Edition (A+ Certification All in One Exam)128 reviews
Michael Meyers

McGraw-Hill Osborne Media, 2006

Wow - A Pleasure to read!
This is a GREAT informative book for anyone with computer experience, brand new to computers, or just the casual hobbyist. Will explain the ins & outs of computers with wonderful photos and illustrations. I am halfway through and even look forward to picking the book up again to read. He provides a 'history' of various subjects and covers even the most up-to-date technologies. I only wish ...

Web 2.0: A Strategy Guide: Business thinking and strategies behind successful Web 2.0 implementations.15 reviews
Amy Shuen

O'Reilly Media, Inc., 2008

Clear, thought provoking, business altering!
Written in an engaging easy to read style; then you pour some coffee and the implications start to hit you. "If this, then..." and "Hey, we could make money ...". My favorite is "That's how they use the stuff I do! Wow!" Information is presented with an idea, how it has been applied, some visual clarification, and then more meat on the concepts. Chapters have questions at the end and more ...

Network Warrior27 reviews
Gary A. Donahue

O'Reilly Media, Inc., 2007

What a great book
I loved three things about this book: 1- The simple style it conveys from cover to cover. Every subject in network administration is divided into short but detailed chapters in order to keep the reader's attention focused. Anyone can write a book that lists an experienced user's knowledge of the subject, but it takes a real engineer to compile the data in small doses of knowledge. 2- The ...

The Oresteia: Agamemnon; The Libation Bearers; The Eumenides (Penguin Classics)31 reviews
Aeschylus

Penguin Classics, 1984

even better the second time around
These are great plays, and this is a beautiful translation. I think, though, that to really appreciate what Aeschylus accomplished (aided and abetted by Fagles), most modern readers should really read the entire trilogy twice. When these plays were first performed, the entire audience would have known the story of Agamemnon's fate and Orestes' revenge from the Odyssey, and probably from ...

Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 Best Practices5 reviews
Ben Curry, Bill English

Microsoft Press, 2008

Outstanding SharePoint Resource!
This book is fantastic for individuals who understand SharePoint, and the normal SharePoint practices, but want more in-depth tips, tricks, and best practices written by two guys who have plenty of real-world experience. There are plenty of suggestions for ensuring you are getting the most out of your SharePoint 2007 installation. The book is well-written, easy to read, and more ...

Business Data Communications and Networking4 reviews
Jerry FitzGerald, Alan Dennis

Wiley, 2006

Easy to read and understand
The business data communications and networking book is very to read and understand. The bold and italicized writing makes it easier to comprehend the communication being presented. The information is up to date and I'd recommend this book to anyone who requires a clear understanding of business data communications and networking

Network+ Guide to Networks, Fourth Edition (Networking)20 reviews
Tamara Dean

Course Technology, 2005

Grueling Course
This book is officially approved courseware for the CompTIA Network+ exam. It has been approved also by the CSSIA (Center for Systems Security and Information Assurance). The book is very comprehensive. But as all textbooks go it has both strengths and weaknesses. In this review I will try to highlight some of both. Like most computer industry books, this one comes with a supplemental CD. That ...
