The Next 100 Years: A Forecast for the 21st Century

Comment
Very good book, but subjective - written from American stand point. Surely it is a forecast for future times but some of the events may happen not because they are prone to happen but because this book will infuence and persuade ruling American elites that the future is heading in this particular direction. It is like reading horoscopes - people know that this is a kind of a game but ...

good solid prep materials
Working with the actual tests is preferable to the faux versions created by test prep companies and this book gives you lots of them, with no explanations just answer keys. However, these tests are from the late nineties-early new millenium years. Still relevant but you might want to seek out some of the even more recent tests published individually to supplement your studies.

Intuitions' Role in Strategic Thinking
I start by declaring my conflict. Roger martin is a friend. I sit on the RIM board with him. Dr. Martin is Dean of the Rotman School of Business. One of his previous books was Opposable Minds: Winning Through Integrative Thinking. The theory of that book was that the ability to hold 2 opposing thoughts in mind often lead to a third superior view. The Design of Business has some of this ...

Work at Home Mom grooms her 3 sons for success!
As a mom of 3 young sons, it's so important these days that I am equipped to raise them for success and not failure. These days our kids are being bombarded by the media with images and information that is designed not only to lower their moral standards and values but also set them up for failure by hyping them up with materialism and instant gratification. If you don't do the "grooming" of ...

A redefinition of "equitable"
In the Introduction, Josh Kosman offers what he calls a "little primer" on how private equity firms operate, explaining that they "buy businesses the way that homebuyers acquire houses. They make a down payment and finance the rest. The financings are structured like balloon mortgages, with big payments due at some point in the future. The critical difference, however, is that while homeowners ...

An eye opening, startling, must-read
Sociopaths comprise 4% of our populations, a statistically significant number. They lack conscience, an ability to empathize; the capacity to love. It's all about them. Yet they hide among us mimicking our behaviors to fit it, to charm, to appear to be the nicest guy or girl around. But they're not. They are family, neighbors, leaders in business and politics. Many are the predators that hurt our ...

I gave this book to a friend's daughters who just lost their dad in a horrible car accident. The girls are 7 and 10. He died the day of the 10 year old bday party. The 10 year old has really taken to this book. She goes to the school counselor weekly and each time brings up this book that now she has a better understanding about the place her dad is now. I'm thankful for picking this right ...

The book gives you an idea of the types of questions that you will be asked in interviews. The amazing part is that since this book is based on real world interviews, and many of the interviewers also read this book, some of the interview questions I am asked are almost word-for-word what is written and described in this book.

BRIGHT LIGHTS, BIG ASS is another wickedly humorous book of cultural observations by Jen Lancaster. I loved all of her memoirs, filled with her sarastic wit.
