great intro to designTurned the
Turned the light on for me as to why my fliers, brochures and business cards were so hard to really "get." Because I'm a visual artist I hadn't thot I needed any help. How wrong I was! This book is great for beginners, it's short and sweet, and great bathroom reading!

One of the best on creating books and journals
One of the best! This book should be on your bookshelf if you are interested in the books as an art form. I would suggest it for any school or college media center. I would not include it on a list for coffee table books but if you have a serious home library which leans toward the book arts, artist journals and sketchbooks; by all means, put this out on the reading table. The next best ...

could not put it down
I read this entire book in three days and learned so much about everything. There is not a lot of technical information in the book but design concepts and things that will just make you so much more prepared for designing websites. I have also read Robin Williams other books and I am totally in love with her writing style. Check them out if you haven't already.

A solid book for type - with a twinge of humor
I like this book a great deal. The next time I have a chance to use this in a class (to teach) I will. There are lots of good examples, the language is clear, and it's not too ethereal or esoteric. I think it's a great introduction to typography and laid out very well.
Tom Kundig: Houses

A breath of fresh air
In a world of inflated egos and misplaced priorities, Tom Kundig rushes in with a clear view, a warm heart and an undisputable eye for beauty. His whimsical but exact and gorgeuos designs display a playfulness that catagorizes a true professional who does not "take himself too seriously" and works to infuse joy in his client's life. I had the same exhuberant reaction to his work that I had the ...

Wonderful intro to the world of type...
As an avid reader and (some would argue) somewhat-successful writer, I spend a lot of time looking at the printed word. But I don't have a full appreciation behind the effort and thought that goes into how that word gets transferred from writer to reader on paper. Robin Williams has a great book for those of us who are not professionals in the world of typesetting... The Non-Designer's Type ...

Concise and Comprehensive
I just can't say enough about how much this book has helped me. I've been writing copy for promotional materials as part of my job for years, and I assumed knowing how to put stuff on a brochure or flier and print it out was enough. I had no idea how dull and uninspired my designs were until I picked up this book. This is the third book I've purchased by Robin and I think I learned more from ...

delightful read for anyone interested in aesthetics or design
a close friend of mine loaned me the book on saturday - i read it once on sunday, and again yesterday (monday) the book is more powerful than i can describe in a review. 5-stars, no-brainer.. read this book! the orientation is more ideological than demonstrative or critical.. the relative shortage of (delightful!) examples leaves me wanting more. and as much as like loved this book, i ...

Great book!!
I was a technical trainer for four years and was in charge of teaching classes such as color theory, digital printing, scanning etc. I really loved this book because it put everything together for me after about 10 months of scraping information from a lot of different sources. You can't go wrong with this book.
Mysteries of the Rectangle: Essays on Painting

Hustvedt Gives the Paintings Back to Us
Siri Hustvedt is a fine writer and an even finer essayist. She is able to communicate volumes of historical and observational information while reassuring the reader that what she is sharing is not THE way of approaching her subject, but rather merely HER musings about art and the concept of the meaning of art. It is a relaxing manner of writing, allowing the reader to learn from her inquiries ...

Karel Martens: Counterprint
Karl Martens
Hyphen Press
, 2004
Throughout his career as a designer, Karel Martens has created uncommissioned and uncompromised artistic work for his friends and for himself -- projects he kept apart from his celebrated graphic design work and only rarely allowed to be seen in public. Using metal plates, washers, and other found objects, Martens created prints in small numbers and as single objects. Karel Martens: Counterprint is the first publication devoted to Martens's ...

Compelling Reading
When I bought this book I didn't know what to expect - I thought it would be similar in style to Oliver Sacks' "Awakenings" (i.e. a series of case histories). While I enjoyed Awakenings I would have to say that this book is much better - it truly reads like an un-put-downable thriller. The plot has all the ingredients for a great story - whatever we might think of heroin addiction and the ...

Mary Burke Morris' The Costume Book requires intermediate to advanced sewing skills and a prior interest in costume creation, but any working with theater or dance productions who regularly sew such costumes will find it an invaluable reference. An aerospace engineering student
This is a great book for the student. It goes over the basics of GPS and inertial navigaion. I found the development of the equations and models of the systems invaluable. I have used this book as the basis of many useful functions for transforming from latitude/longitude/altitude to ECEF and others. Overall, a great book for the beginner, although, a bit weak on advanced topics.
The Creation Hypothesis: Scientific Evidence for an Intelligent Designer

A Scientific Analysis for the Existence of God
A well written and thought provoking book that is detailed and scientifically valid. Those who state otherwise either have not read the book, or do not know how to conduct philosophic and scientific inquiry. J. P. Moreland and a panel of experts consider philosophical arguments about whether it is possible for us to know if an intelligent Designer had a role in creation. Then they evaluate the ...

A good book for beginners
I just went through the book, the most important part i liked is its language which is very welcoming for a beginner. I know lots of graphic softwares very well, but unware of some basic designing fundamentals. This book showed me the way. Though the samples in the book is few and not very interesting but has lots of basic information written in compact form so that a beginner can refer back any ...
