Star Wars Omnibus: Tales of the Jedi Volume 2 (Star Wars: Omnibus)3 reviews
Tom Veitch, Kevin J. Anderson, ...

Dark Horse, 2008

Excellent Material... Should be a movie (or trilogy)
This omnibus edition from Dark Horse contains the Exar Kun war. To most Star Wars enthusiasts, this may or may not make a lot of sense. So, for those who have played Knights of the Old Republic, it contains the exploits of the Qel-Droma clan and Nomi Sunrider. For those who have read the Jedi Academy books where Luke sets up the Academy on Yavin IV, it tells the story of Exar Kun and how he ...

The Starman Omnibus, Vol. 17 reviews
James Robinson

DC Comics, 2008

Jack's not perfect, but he'll have to do.
I can easily say James Robinson's work on Starman and Firearm is one of the key inspirations for me to pursue a career in writing comics. (Zombie Highway most notably if you're curious.) So I thank and curse him equally. As for the price, it's 17 issues worth. A fair cost. Also, it's wonderful to see Tony Harris's art appearing more vibrant than even the original books.

The Great Book of Amber: The Complete Amber Chronicles, 1-10 (Chronicles of Amber)209 reviews
Roger Zelazny

Eos, 1999

Classic SF&F
Roger Zelazny's Amber series is one of the best sci-fi/fantasy epics ever written. Not only was it highly imaginative and original when it was published (in the 70s and 80s), but it remains so -- there's nothing else like it. Corwin and his brothers and sisters are clever, sophisticated, sarcastic, and extremely ambitious. They constantly scheme and plot to outmaneuver each other as they vie ...

The New York Times Ultimate Crossword Omnibus: 1,001 Puzzles from The New York Times16 reviews
The New York Times

St. Martin's Griffin, 2003

Great selection and variety for hardcore puzzlers
I got this for my mom who is hardcore for crossword puzzles. For the price, you can't beat it. She was running puzzles off the internet and having a hard time reading them because the print was so small. There is a great variety of puzzles to keep her busy without having to run endless puzzles off of the internet. She also enjoys the variety diffent level of puzzles. I would definetely ...

Buffy the Vampire Slayer Omnibus, Vol. 112 reviews
Joss Whedon, Others, ...

Dark Horse, 2007

Great way to get the early Buffy history!
With a faithful adaptation of Joss Whedon's ORIGINAL screenplay for Buffy the Vampire Slayer (the movie), a story about the immediate after effects where Buffy runs away to Las Vegas, as well as giving us the story about her sojourn in the mental institution, we're finally given a good glimpse into what forces shaped the Buffy we grew to know and love in the first season of the series. Of ...

Buffy the Vampire Slayer Omnibus, Vol. 27 reviews
Various

Dark Horse, 2007

If you need more Buffy, get this!
Following Buffy from her parents' decision to get a divorce, moving to Sunnydale and even into the evil Angel era, this excellent collection of tales of the Slayer will help to keep your thirst for Buffy to a manageable level. The art in this one is uneven - the first story is done in a very unusual manner - that is, in a very cartoonish manner - and it was rather a shock. I ended up rather ...

Captain America by Ed Brubaker Omnibus, Vol. 119 reviews
Ed Brubaker

Marvel Comics, 2007

A gorgeous collection for the Best Captain America run out there.
Brubaker is the man. I buy everything with his name on it, and this Omnibus that collects the first 25 issues of his run (leading up to the "Death of a Dream" storyline) is brilliant. This edition collects the story arcs: "Out of Time", "The Winter Soldier", "21st Century Blitz", "Red is the Darkest Colour", "Collision Courses" and "The Drums of War (A Civil War Tie-In)" as well as the first ...

The Icewind Dale Trilogy Collector's Edition (A Forgotten Realms(r) Omnibus)170 reviews
R. A. Salvatore

Wizards of the Coast, 2001

Great Reading!
I grew up having only read J.R.R. Tolken. These books are great! I never picked up another fanasy book thinking how could any another be as good. It wasn't till last year a friend gave me Homeland. That's were it all started for me. I just started The Legacy. I cannot put these books down. So far I have been immersed in this awesome world R.A. Salvatore has created. Some freinds of mine say ...

Dark Horse, 2008

Excitement and danger follow Dr. Henry Jones Jr. around the globe in this collection of classic, long out-of-print stories! From Greece to Germany, the South Pacific to the seas of the Vikings, his race against the Nazis to recover artifacts like the Golden Fleece, the Philosopher's Stone, or the Spear of Destiny will run him afoul of legendary monsters, ancient cults, and armies of the undead! Undeniably thrilling, these are the stories that ...

Jack Kirby's Fourth World Omnibus, Vol. 41 review
Jack Kirby

DC Comics, 2008

The end of the Fourth World as we know it.
And then, as Mark Evanier relates in his Afterword, the "Fourth World" project came to an abrupt halt. This volume, the fourth and final colletion of Jack Kirby's most famous DC project, allows us to observe the final moments of the original run of titles, and the somewhat haphazard resolution that was tacked on by Kirby years later, when DC gave him another shot at his famous property. As ...

Jack Kirby's Fourth World Omnibus, Vol. 125 reviews
Jack Kirby

DC Comics, 2007

Lots of fun...
I've always been curious about the Fourth World saga from the 70s and was excited to receive this for Christmas. Kirby used Superman to introduce bold new characters and concepts, which really helps bring in the reader. Lots of folks have complained about the paper quality--saying it should be glossy, but I don't have any complaints. It's sturdy paper; not going to rip when you turn the page.

Eisenhorn (A Warhammer 40,000 Omnibus)34 reviews
Dan Abnett

Games Workshop, 2005

very entertaining
As usual, with Dan Abnett you get exactly what you expect: a fast paced, well written, action packed page turner. The story arcs are all similar, and the besides Eisenhorn characters are not really developed. However, the universe is richly textured and dark. If you want a quick read that will take your mind of things, this will do the trick

Buffy the Vampire Slayer Omnibus, Volume 32 reviews
Various

Dark Horse, 2008

Graphic SF Reader
I have seen omnibus one, but not omnibus two. This volume is certainly a lot more like it than the first, with the Sunnydale High School setting, and madcap vampire and demon slaying. Demon slumber parties, ice elementals in ice-cream type shops, trashy demon freckly redheads, and more of that sort of thing, and plenty of bad puns to be had, too. Escaped weredoggies, supernatural movie ...

Buffy Omnibus Volume 5 (Buffy the Vampire Slayer)
Christopher Golden, Jane Espensen, ...

Dark Horse, 2008

Volume Five of the Buffy the Vampire Slayer Omnibus series begins immediately after Season Three, after Sunnydale High has gone up in flames. Buffy is plagued by dreams of fellow Slayer Faith, who now lies in a coma. Jane Espenson, the celebrated writer from the Buffy TV show, who went on to work on Battlestar Galactica, writes the powerful Faith story Haunted. And as summer comes to an end, Buffy and Willow begin their first year of college ...

His Dark Materials Omnibus (The Golden Compass; The Subtle Knife; The Amber Spyglass)1067 reviews
Philip Pullman

Knopf Books for Young Readers, 2007

Genius
You know how there are those people who say that children's literature is meaningless? Personally, I think they all need to be forced down in a chair (perhaps as in "A Clockwork Orange") to read "His Dark Materials." Like other reviewers, when I finished reading "Harry Potter" I was still on a fantasy kick, but I was rather jaded by the titles I saw out there. They seemed boring, predictable, ...

The Ultramarines Omnibus (Warhammer 40,000 Omnibus)14 reviews
Graham McNeill

Games Workshop, 2006

MUST HAVE
Even if you are not a fan of the Ultramarines chapter, you will be amazed by the writing. Its good to see space marines showing human qualites, and not just propaganda programed soldiers. The last story is exceptionally well written, with descriptions of hell/chaos realms so vivid and disturbing they will remain with you for some time.
