Wonderful book especially as it is up-dated for current use since new equipment has been introduced as well as new products. Even if I don't use it to cook, it makes wonderful reading.

Hitler: A Biography (One-Volume Edition)
Ian Kershaw

W. W. Norton, 2008

Finally, the one-volume edition of Ian Kershaw's definitive and masterful biography of Hitler. "The Hitler biography of the twenty-first century" (Richard J. Evans), Ian Kershaw's Hitler is a new, distilled, one-volume masterpiece that will become the standard work. From Hitler's origins as a failed artist in fin-de-siécle Vienna to the terrifying last days in his Berlin bunker, Kershaw's richly illustrated biography is a mesmerizing ...

An Army at Dawn: The War in North Africa, 1942-1943, Volume One of the Liberation Trilogy154 reviews
Rick Atkinson

Holt Paperbacks, 2007

It's a Page Turner
Outstanding. Tight writing moves the narrative along quickly, with plenty of fascinating information. The initial incompetence of the American war effort is second only to the perpetual incompetence of the French. Eisenhower and Patton learn the ropes. Highly recommended. (I have the Kindle version, and the maps are illegible.)

Bone: One Volume Edition102 reviews
Jeff Smith

Cartoon Books, 2004

Wow
Wow. Just Wow. I mean wow! Everyone who reads anything knows that a lot of the time people make it sound a lot better than it really is. But this is the greatest comic of all time, besides Watchmen. I could go on about the specific points about how great the book is, but instead I will say that there is absolutely nothing wrong with it. Keep on Drawing, Jeff Smith!

This course is the best for bass guitar that I could find. One would still need assistance from a bass player but this will definitely get you started.

Winning Poker Tournaments One Hand at a Time Volume I10 reviews
Eric 'Rizen' Lynch, Jon 'Pearljammer' Turner, ...

Dimat Enterprises, Inc., 2008

This book is great!
I am relatively new to poker, but I've read the Harrington's and the Phil Gordon's etc. etc. Those books teach you the basics and then go on to teach some strategy. Winning One Hand at a Time is strictly strategy driven. You're shown a hand, and then Rizen, Pearljammer or Apestyles breaksdown how to play the hand. It sounds pretty simple, but it's cool to see how these internet greats play ...

Chronicles: Volume One274 reviews
Bob Dylan

Simon & Schuster, 2005

Enignatic read from an enigma
Volumes and volumes can be written about Bob Dylan, but to get into his mind and to know what and who mattered to him and in what ways, only he can provide that, which he does here. The writer of so many spectacular lyrics that can mightily stand on their own as poems even if he doesn't call himself a poet, Bob is also quite adept at prose, as brilliant and candid and enigmatic as he can be in ...

Tintin
Brilliant! Bought the whole set of 7 books for the kids (aged 8 & 10) and they loved them. The format is smaller than I remembered from my childhood but the kids didn't care. They read them over and over again. They also loved the Calvin and Hobbs books.

Blood Brothers (Sign of Seven Trilogy, Book 1)134 reviews
Nora Roberts

Jove, 2007

scary, but....
I will admit that I enjoyed this book thoroughly, and the boogieman really did scare me, but the whole concept of characters meeting and falling deeply in love in a matter of days does get old. Also, did anyone else note the similarities between this story and Stephen King's It? Remember? Scary sewer monster comes to town every 30 years to feed on the children, townspeople are oblivious to what's ...

The Norton Anthology of World Masterpieces, One Volume, Expanded Edition11 reviews

W. W. Norton, 1997

In good shape, good as new
well, the book was in good shape, except it was the wrong edition for the class I was taken .I looked up the number and this is the book they showed, so I guess next time I have to be more careful.

The Science Fiction Hall of Fame, Volume One46 reviews

Orb Books, 2005

A classic...never out of style
I was new to some of these stories. And I was sorry I had not read them years before.Since they date back to the 1950s in many cases, you would think they would seem dated. And some are...but there are so many gems that are worth reading, and reading again. They have aged well. What is a good yarn, written well, will never go out of style.

The Norton Shakespeare, Based on the Oxford Edition, Second Edition: One-Volume Hardcover22 reviews
William Shakespeare

W. W. Norton, 2008

New (2nd) Norton is simply the best one volume there is
This edition continues the tradition of excellence from Norton. This book was designed primarily for college students, but as an older amature Shakespearian, I appreciate the background essays and the academic notes. The paper quality and font are very readable despite the size, and having all of the works in one volume is fantastic. This it the one Shakespeare i carry with me when I travel. It's ...

Titan Books, 2006

Another warm fuzzy for any Firefly fan
If you're reading this review, then you must not own volume one of Firefly: The Official Companion. If you did, then you wouldn't need a review to sell you on this one. So I have a piece of advice for you: buy both books. If you have a place in your heart for Firefly, then make a place on your coffee table for these books. Each one is overflowing with behind-the-scenes information about every ...

Great comic book!
Tintin is a great comic book ... funny, witty, adventurous, and with clean language. These are classics! I used to read them growing up in Europe, and I am glad that I can have my children read them too.

Herge

Little, Brown Young Readers, 1995

Fantastic little collection.
Don't be fooled by the size of this little book. Other readers have stated how the pictures seem much to small in this more compact version of the comics we loved as children. These are just as visually stunning as the original size comics. Best of all, it is hardcover and will not get damaged (a problem I had with the originals) and they are compact enough to take on a car ride. My son is now as ...

San Theodoros, Britain, Syldavia
"The Adventures of Tintin: Volume 2" contains three more adventure comics by Herge, in a handy sized hardcover book. Here, we get "The Broken Ear" (1937), an adventure in a civil-war torn part of South America, "The Black Island" (1938) a chase through Britain, and "King Ottokar's Sceptre" (1939), featuring a plot against a "Syldavian" king. A few well known Tintin characters first appear in ...
