Assessment in Speech-Language Pathology: A Resource Manual19 reviews
Kenneth G. Shipley, Julie G. McAfee

Delmar Cengage Learning, 2008

Every SLP Needs This!
I could not function without my "Speech Bible." Every once in a while when I need a quick refresher on certain topics, this book provides me with the information I need. I also like to use their forms when I do informal testing/observations of children.

Robbins Basic Pathology: With STUDENT CONSULT Online Access (Basic Pathology (Kumar))12 reviews
Vinay Kumar, Abul K. Abbas, ...

Saunders, 2007

A great review for AP boards
This text is very concise compared with Robbins Pathologic Basis of Disease. Both are excellent, but this "smaller" book actually has everything you need for the general pathology part of the written AP boards. I am specifically referring to chapters 1-9 with 10 and 11. It needs to be read with near total comprehension, but the color graphics are excellent aids. All other systemic pathology ...

A Massage Therapist's Guide to Pathology (Lww Massage Therapy & Bodywork Educational)27 reviews
Ruth Werner

Lippincott Williams & Wilkins, 2008

Pathology Book
I began learning Pathology in Ruth Werner's 1st edition book in massage therapy school. I just attended her continuing education class in Louisiana and can truly say that this woman is remarkable. I immediately came home and ordered this 4th edition book. Wow, has it grown. The book is everything I expected and needed. The information is so clear and easy to understand and would be very helpful ...

Treatment Resource Manual for Speech-Language Pathology2 reviews
Froma P. Roth, Colleen K. Worthington

Delmar Cengage Learning, 2005

good resource
This is an excellent resource with descriptions, ideas, examples, helpful hints and age appropirate goals. Not only do you get sample activies but they are very detailed too. They also list additional resources. OH! and example profiles... you can see if one of your students has similar attributes. They have therapy for children, adolescents and adults... what more can you ask for. I used ...

Pathology: Implications for the Physical Therapist (Pathology)9 reviews
Catherine C. Goodman, Kenda S. Fuller

Saunders, 2008

Great book for a student going into PT!
I have read about 5 chapters of this book so far. I am extremely happy with the text, the authors give a good description about the various pathologies throughout the chapters and also give a section after a topic on how to apply the information listed to physical therapy. I am sure this will be a book that is frequently visited to refreshen my memory on a specific disease/illness and will ...

Robbins and Cotran Review of Pathology, Second Edition28 reviews
Edward Klatt, Vinay Kumar

Saunders, 2004

Must Have.
This book is a must have for any serious medical student. It helps guide and focus your study of pathology to what is relevant to the USMLE. Practicing these questions really underscored the key points of each Robbins chapter. In addition, the answers have page numbers specifically referencing on which page of Robbins you can get more information on the topic.

Rosen's Breast Pathology3 reviews
Paul Peter Rosen

Lippincott Williams & Wilkins, 2008

Lifesaver
In 2000-01, I had 3 lumpectomies. All my mammograms were negative. The 3rd lump was excised when I was 62. I was a cytotechnologist for Unilab in Tarzana, CA. My medical director, Dr. Adele Hieshima, had a copy of Dr. Rosen's book on breast pathology. We went over it together. I was amazed at how many types of breast cancer there were. Cancer was revealed in my 3rd lumpectomy, but Kaiser ...

Plant Pathology, Fifth Edition9 reviews
George N. Agrios

Academic Press, 2004

an excellent text
This is an excellent introduction to plant pathology and the kind of book one tends to hold onto to use as a reference after finishing their coursework. I have known plenty of graduate students who've held onto their copies, and I've really never heard any serious criticisms of this book. The coverage is broad, and it will serve as a useful, interesting and highly readable reference for those ...

Rubin's Pathology: Clinicopathologic Foundations of Medicine 5th Edition3 reviews

Lippincott Williams & Wilkins, 2007

Great for reference, too much for a single course
Simply put, this is the end-all be-all when it comes to pathologic analysis of disease states. Typically this is for 2nd year Medical School Students and/or Pathology trainees. Unless you are going into pathology as a sub-discipline, you may be overloaded with this information. If you want a concise primer on all things pathology, look into "Essential Pathology" by Rubin, which is intended as ...

Radiographic Pathology for Technologists3 reviews
Nina Kowalczyk, James D. Mace

Mosby, 2008

Radiography Pathology
I found this to be an excellent textbook. I think every rad tech should review the informaton in this book before taking x-rays. This book was also a tool for the ARRT exam. Pathology, I think, is one of the more interestings subjects, not boring at all. This book is good along with the likes of "The Ultimate Study Guide for the Registry Examination in Radiography questions and answers" ...

Lange FlashCards: Pathology (Lange Flash Cards)15 reviews
Suzanne Baron, Christopher Lee

McGraw-Hill Medical, 2004

love!
I was skeptical about these cards at first. They're literally printed on paper (not notecards), and they're packed with way too much information for quick flashcard review. However, they were indispensable during 2nd year. Granted, they don't cover all of the diseases in Robbin's, but I rather preferred it that way; diseases they didn't cover, I figured were low yield, and this served me ...

I've been in the field for 30 years and I still get this book in newer editions every so often. It's a must-have reference for anyone in the dental field.
