Outstanding
I entered a graduate level nursing class with nothing more than high school biology (that was decades ago) and was presented with the daunting task of reading the entire book. I wasn't sure about successfully completing the course until realizing that this textbook was one of the best I've ever come across. The material was well-organized and the text easy to follow. The authors made good use of ...

Review of Porth's Pathophysiology
Porth's Pathophysiology provides a deeper look at the pathophysiology behind many health conditions. It is well written and interesting with helpful tables. There is a CD with animation that is helpful for seeing how the illness develops, but it is not as in depth as the text.

Excellent Pathophysiology book
This is an excellent pathophysiology book available in the market. I am right now preparing for my step 2 but I wish I would have used this book for my step 1. I have a decent score on my step 1 and I have taken the exam recently and I think if somebody masters this book they can rock the exam. This book gives excellent information regarding many diseases. I am trying to study this book right now ...

Good for nurses or for any interested layperson
This book gives you a good introduction to pathophysiology without being very technical. Even if you are not a medical professional, you will still grasp the concepts because the author gives simple but adequate definition of the disease and its underlying causes. I am a career switcher (switched to RN) and this book worked for me.

Excellent Resource
I can not recommend this book highly enough! I am a nursing student and this book is invaluable to me! It cuts straight to the point, and is written in an easy, conversational style. As I began reading this book, my "lightbulb came on"...topics that I had struggled with previously, suddenly made sense!! The graphics and charts are wonderful, mnemonics are interspersed within the related text, and ...

Basic phatophysiology knowledge
The book is extremely useful for first year medicine, dentistry or nursery students. Specially the first 4 chapters. It might require a better organization , the way the topics were posted but the objectives are covered at the end. besides, the questionnaries are relevant to the topics.

Excellent book
Though the text can be a bit dense and overly wordy sometimes (Glomerulonephritides chapter), it does an excellent job at explaining pathophysiology. Pictures are in B&W though, so if you're just looking for nice slides, pick up Robbins. If you're looking to gain understanding, pick up this book.

ALL MY FRIEND'S LOVED IT!
I am a visual learner and added this to my library of tools for my nursing classes. It is very helpful and I would highly recommend it. When I pulled it out of my backpack at school, my classmates went nuts and I really had to keep an eye on it fearing it might suddenly disappear for a few days since we had a case study project due!

Don't buy it unless you're committed
Well I really like it, the 1st time I really used it and that was it. it forces you to read deeply (in the txt that is). The matter is retention. But unless you're committed, because the review book has depth, unless you're committed, do not buy it.

A great resource!
This book is a great resource for those in health care professions who are seeking to better understand how to apply pathophysiological processes in clinical practice. It is also a excellent guide to examining some of the pathophysiologic alterations seen in specific disease states.
