Good ideas for your students
I love the thought of this book -- an art book for teachers who may not know much about art, but are planning on teaching art to their students. It's a great idea, and the book covers a great deal of information in a thin volume, from the principles of art, to the schools of artists and their works, to methods used to create art, to visiting the museum. The book also contains suggested projects ...

Very Helpful
Contains many practical and easy activities that are fun for any child, not just "out of sync." Tried several already and found my grandson loved the originality and the use of everyday objects as situations for play.

Best Book for Sensory Integration out there!!
I *LOVED* this book. It was such a quick read that I got through it in two days, *with* two kids underfoot, but there certainly was no lack in valuable content to read. This has transformed the way that I understand and work with my daughter, and she has had a diagnosis for sensory integration disorder for years! I reccommend this to *any* parent, even those without sensory kids....

The Out of Sinc Child
This is the best book. I was writing a book about my son who has SI Dysfunction. He is 23 years old now. I was in Barnes and Noble looking for another book when I found this. I was blown away. I never knew there was a book like this. I could have really used this book when Marcus was little. It is so wonderful. I opened it and started reading about my son. My book is called What's Wrong With My ...

A great resource...
I really enjoyed this book. The authors know how to explain their material without using a lot of technical jargon. If you have read and enjoyed "The Out of Sync Child", I would recommend this as Part 2. It goes a little more in-depth and has lots of great ideas for activities. Very Smart!

An Op Art retrospective
The publication of "Optic Nerve" was designed to coincide with the exhibition of Op Art at the Columbia Museum of Art in Columbus, Ohio last year. As such it is a retrospective on a curious cultural phenomenon that those of us who came of age in the sixties remember well. It was a time of irreverence in many ways as many Americans protested against the war in Vietnam and against racial ...

Fascinating and moving, by a hero of Oliver Sacks
I learned about this book from Oliver Sacks; he's often mentioned Luria as a hero and cited this book as an example of what he's trying to do. It is a case study--collaboration between doctor and patient--of a man who suffered severe effects from a brain injury incurred during the Second World War; he's lost most of his memory, including his education and how to do the simplest things; however ...

This book will give insight and hope to those who, on a daily basis, struggle with the complex process of eating which can be very challenging for many. It explores the idea of how problems with eating can impact a child's social development as well as self-esteem. It addresses the need of a collaborative effort between the caretaker, teachers and professionals that work with the child, to ...

Best intro I've found
I am certified in all levels of NLP including as a trainer (by Wyatt Woodsmall, one of the best teachers in the field). I teach a 110 hour course on the Practitioner level. My library of NLP material is quite large. There are many books on the subject. This, which I recently came across, is probably the best introduction for a beginner. It will give you the nuts and bolts, the basic concepts, in ...

Year round activities for three year old children
I found this book unique from other preschool curriculum books. The first way it differs is that rather than being set up by theme, it is divided by abilities. This has much to do with the book being so age specific. The second difference is in the set up of the book. An explanation of the abilities of a three year old is followed by a series of recipe cards (my own interpretation). Each ...

An Intriguing Inner Voyage
J.D. Arthur's Peopled Darkness is a milestone in the literature of experimentation with naturally-occuring psychoactive substances. The term "experiment," used in connection with anything mind-altering, often seems a rather high-flown euphemism for an idle and shallow adventure; the media even reports on adolescents "experimenting with alcohol," as if they were wearing lab coats and ...
