The Hundred-Year Lie: How to Protect Yourself from the Chemicals That Are Destroying Your Health59 reviews
Randall Fitzgerald

Plume, 2007

Shocking
This information is both shocking and necessary. It is important to learn the different way one needs to learn and on what levels our food effects our diet. We are only getting enough to barely live in nutrients, and people need to learn how to get what they need, and what is being done to encourage, not prevent disease.

More Natural "Cures" Revealed: Previously Censored Brand Name Products That Cure Disease217 reviews
Kevin Trudeau

Alliance Publishing, 2007

Good Reading
Trudeau continues with his last book. Again, he repeats himself quite a bit, but his points need to be repeated. Good reading...

Math for Meds: Dosages and Solutions24 reviews
Anna M. Curren

Delmar Cengage Learning, 2008

Text worth spending the money on.
It is a very good text. It's simplified but still at an adult level. Plenty of good examples and exercises. Our teacher loves it, says it's the best text she had seen in awhile. One thing could stand improving. The medical labels are a little small to read. They could stand to be much larger.

Pharmacology for Nursing Care44 reviews
Richard A. Lehne PhD

Saunders, 2009

surprisingly good text
I'm a junior in a bsn program and use this book for my nursing pharm book. This textbook tries hard not to be dry, and i've actually been able to read it without falling asleep. there's a lot of information in it and the author does a great job of keeping your attention. it's huge, and heavy, but a good investment. i also use the saunder's nursing drug handbook, which is a great reference ...

Selling Sickness: How the World's Biggest Pharmaceutical Companies Are Turning Us All Into Patients28 reviews
Ray Moynihan, Alan Cassels

Nation Books, 2006

Must read before popping another pill.
A must-read for everyone who is on prescription medications or has a loved one on meds. Especially, if you think the FDA protects consumers.

Olson: Clinical Pharmacology Made Ridiculously Simple (Edition 3)25 reviews
James Olson

MedMaster Inc., 2006

Great for review, bad for learning
While in school, I enjoyed the pictures and such. But found the book tough to learn from. Maybe I don't handle gigantic lists that well. Now that I'm out practicing, I like the book alot as a quick reference/refresher.

The Lost Language of Plants: The Ecological Importance of Plant Medicines for Life on Earth24 reviews
Stephen Harrod Buhner

Chelsea Green, 2002

I just want to add my personal take...
I won't go into what the other reviewers have already said about the beauty and sensitivity of this book. (I have had experiences in the garden with certain "weeds" seeming to beckon to me to eat them, and that is why I bought this book, to see if there might be something to this.) I was blown away by how incredibly SMART plants are! But I just have to say that I am literally trembling now ...

Foye's Principles of Medicinal Chemistry (Lemke, Foye's Principles of Medicinal Chemistry)5 reviews

Lippincott Williams & Wilkins, 2007

It's the recommended book for my program.
What can I say, this book is great. A terrific resource for the study of Medicinal Chemistry. It's what the faculty recommend using for my Medicinal Chemistry program, and it is often referenced by professors.

Medical Dosage Calculations (9th Edition)8 reviews
June L. Olsen, Anthony P. Giangrasso, ...

Prentice Hall, 2007

It wasn't what I expected but it is very helpful in pharm recall.
Although I did not want but appreciated the review of pharmacology, what I was looking for the most was a step by step illustration of several proportion problems that led into the dosage calculations using similar step by step formats; but I was disappointed because this book does not do that and with what I paid for this book and the description that was provided that's what I was led to ...

Prescription for Drug Alternatives: All-Natural Options for Better Health without the Side Effects5 reviews
James Balch, Mark Stengler, ...

Wiley, 2008

Guides you through the maze of supplement bottles
I am open to supplements, but not ready to throw out traditional medicine just yet. And I'm overwhelmed by the 50-foot aisle of supplements at my grocery store. I see 37 different kinds of calcium alone and honestly, I give up. What's safe to take? Which manufacturers are trustworthy? Who knows? Well, this book guides you through natural supplements that can improve or heal many conditions ...

Prentice Hall Reviews & Rationales: Pharmacology (2nd Edition)5 reviews
Mary Ann Hogan, Juanita F. Johnson, ...

Prentice Hall, 2007

Helps with Pharm
This whole series of books is a big help. It condenses everything into a short outline form but with the info you need plus there are NCLEX type questions with the answers and rationales. I recommend the whole series if you are in Nursing School.

Drug Therapy in Nursing5 reviews
Diane S Aschenbrenner, Samantha J Venable

Lippincott Williams & Wilkins, 2008

Well organized textbook
This text is very well organized. Every chapter starts with an overview of the relevant physiological concepts. They present a Prototypical drug for each class and then compare/contrast the other drugs in that class against the prototype. The amount of information contained in the book is overwhelming (due to the nature of the subject), but the easy to understand layout and consistent use of ...
