Plumbing a House (For Pros by Pros)24 reviews
Peter Hemp

Taunton, 1994

Correct information is the most important tool...
In Plumbing A House, Peter Hemp provides thorough and accurate information with very useful details and insights. I recommend this book to anyone who is doing any plumbing, having any plumbing performed for them, or who just owns a house and wants to have some idea of what provides the water and gas and what takes it away. The book is especially useful to read before performing an inspection of ...

Complete Plumbing (Stanley Complete)5 reviews
Stanley

Stanley, 2008

Good book for the do it yourselfer or to help you learn more so you can talk with a professional
For a complete novice like me, this is a very handy book. It covers most, but not all, of the common plumbing jobs one can face around the home. It is well illustrated with hand photographs, well drawn diagrams, and provides step by step instructions for getting jobs handled in the correct order. The book is organized by clogged pipes, faucets, toilets, working with pipe repairs, system ...

Remodel Plumbing (For Pros by Pros)8 reviews
Rex Cauldwell

Taunton, 2005

Great book, not necessarily just for pros
I am not a professional plumber and am in the midst of a forced renovation. I have read other plumbing books but none addressed retrofit plumbing as this one does. The way he described procedures, such as installing new shut-off valves gave me the confidence to at least undertake such a project. I am better able to see the whole picture of how a repair fits into or affects the overall system. ...

Code Check Plumbing Third Edition: An Illustrated Guide to the Plumbing Codes (Code Check Plumbing: A Field ...2 reviews
Michael Casey, Redwood Kardon, ...

Taunton, 2006

Good for basics
This guide answered most of my basic questions I had about replacing a sewer pipe. Although it did not indicate support material type (softfill, sand, etc...) or prefered methods for hydrotesting. It is worth the money and will sometimes show you things you might be forgetting. Any unanswered questions I had I covered with the city inspection department.

The Black & Decker Complete Guide to Home Plumbing: Newly Expanded 3rd Edition37 reviews
Editors of creative Publishing

Creative Publishing international, 2005

Hi. My name's Dave and I'm not handy. (Hi, Dave. It's OK, Dave.)
This is the second Black & Decker Complete Guide that I've used to good effect in my battle to overcome being born and raised as the quintessential not handy guy while tending to as much of the care and feeding of our 1930s-era home as I can. I"m not there yet. But it certainly isn't the fault of this fine guide, which majors on visuals. The ...

Modern Plumbing1 review
E. Keith Blankenbaker

Goodheart-Willcox Co, 2004

Probably good for classroom use
I bought this book to teach myself plumbing skills, not for use in a classroom, but just for DIY information to maintain my home and rental property. I find that hiring plumbers is very expensive. It has a good overview of the plumbing field and introduces many topics such as connecting a home to the public sewer and water supply, a good discussion of fittings, and information on installing ...

Illustrated Guide to the 2006 International Plumbing and Sewage Codes (Illustrated Guide to the International ...1 review
Terry Patterson

McGraw-Hill Professional, 2006

Not So Much
This book is very hard to follow. The Illustrated manual that is published by the ICC is much more coherent and informative. I regret having spent so much money on this book becaust it has nothing to offer beyond what is in the ICC publication. The font that was utized by the author in his ilustrations are murder on the eyes. Buy the ICC version as it has the actual code verbatim and then the ...

Plumbing: Design and Installation3 reviews
L. V. Ripka

Amer Technical Pub, 2006

A plumbing teacher's review
I use this book often in the shop/classroom. I think it is an excellent teaching aid when used in conjunction with the associated workbook. My only problem is converting some of the Minn. code into Massachusetts code where I teach. Several of the chapters deal specifically with plumbing traps, materials and plumbing fixtures, which I like. The workbook does a great job of using many different ...
