Great Resource..Easy Read!
This is one of the best books I read while looking to learn more about my premature son and his experience in NICU. During such a stressful time, I believe this book was a manageable resource to quickly educate myself on what to expect. I was on bedrest prior to delivery and began reading it then. I finished reading it during my son's NICU stay, but still go back to review topics/issues related ...

I hate to read, but this was a quick and very helpful read. The information was useful and the techniques are working very well after a few weeks of practice. This was recommended by my doctor and I'll pass that recommendation along. Good luck.

This product was extemely helpful in getting me ready for my twins. They were born 11 weeks eary and I was much more prepared for the NICU and what the care would involve for the hospital stay for my boys. I would suggest others with multiples or complications read it.

Essential reading
This book has been a God-send. Its clear, comprehensive text, helpful illustrations, and authoritative advice (the lead author is a top Houston neonatologist) is just what my husband and I needed when we found out our baby was going to be born prematurely. At last! The truth about early menopause
Karin Banerd explains at the beginning of this book that premature menopause can occur naturally, as a result of a full or partial hysterectomy, or as a result of radiation or chemotherapy treatment. When Banerd realized that she was experiencing premature ovarian failure naturally (her body began the process before she was 35), the lack of information and support for women in her situation left ...

God Made Me Deficient
I am not OK the way I am. No, I am NOT. Shut up. I am deficient. God did it on purpose, but this book, thank God, gave me the ammunition to fight back, to fight Him, to put God in his place for this horrible thing he did to me. (And yet I love Him so very, very much.) From the very first exercise--tie one end of a fishing line to your ding-a-ling, tie the other end to a cinder block, then ...

Excellent Reading for Relatives
I am the new aunt of a 25-week preemie. In the hospitals NICU library, I found this book by chance, and I couldn't put it down. This collection of short vignettes gave me a peek into the mind of a parent of a preemie, into all the hopes and fears and trials and joys my sister and brother-and-law might experience. And right from the beginning, when my sister tearfully begged me not to do ...

Start learning about nursing your preemie with this book
I wish that I had had this book right after my son was born at 30 weeks. I had breastfed my older (full term) daughter but knew nothing about breastfeeding a preemie. This book gives a very positive outlook and really makes you feel like it is possible to nurse your preemie. There is information on pumping and storing your milk, on problems you may encounter while pumping, about kangaroo care and ...

Informative about the confusing time in the NICU.
This was a wonderful book. After getting home each night from the NICU I'd read up on what they told me about my son (born at 33 weeks). It is very important to read ONLY the sections that apply to your baby. Otherwise you'll worry about things that do not apply. I do not agree with Jenny William's review above. Sometimes while baby is NICU it CANNOT breast feed because sometimes preemies ...

How to Keep Your Sanity During an Especially Tough Situation
Our son was born at 26 weeks (3 months early) and was in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) until one day past his due date. We were given this book after he'd been there one month. Let me tell you what a life-saver it was! We had been given a "crash course" in the care delivered to a premature infant... very scary stuff. Wires, machines, noise, drugs -- and in the middle of it all this ...
