Silver Surfer: Requiem

A silver surfer essential.
One of the best Silver Surfer sagas I have read to date. The catch 22 is that this a story so well written and illustrated, that it makes you wish it was never written. It makes you wish you did not have to say goodbye to the Silver Surfer. Nevertheless, if he had to go, this is a brilliant goodbye for a sad and noble hero. If you are a fan of the Silver Surfer, there is no other way to put ...

Quick read, great info. Can't beat the price.
This book is certainly a great way to get your chops, being taught by someone who uses the application for real world work - on a daily basis. I've followed Tim around the web for years, on different forums and as a respected expert editor and Adobe guru. You can find him online and pick from his reviews, articles and posts that all clearly demonstrate his qualifications and insights before ...

Premiere Elements 3 users, this book is for you too! Being new to video editing, I was wary of a book that was not version specific. No need to worry, this book works well with version 3. Whether you are a beginner or advanced this book has it all. The format makes this book superior to others. The inside front cover has 'Contents at a Glance' index that directs you to the section for a ...

Phenomenal Read
I'm new to manga and while I was initially attracted to Ikegami's art (art that still gives me pause it's so beautiful)the story really, really captured me. It was like a history lesson in Japanese politics and the mob (the Yakuza). All the characters were so interwoven and yes you do have to pay attention because there are twists and turns all the time. The nine volumes that it takes to tell ...

One of Spideys best
This may very well be the best spidey story ever told, and that is very strange considering how low on the pole Kraven ranks among Spideys villains. However, Kraven becomes an empathetic character in this story, and watching his dissent into madness from panel to panel is a work of art. The story has a few moments that spidey fans will remember forever, and that's pretty impressive considering ...

"Huge walking monster things with death ray faces! What are you waiting for, boys and girls? This is what we do!"
With NEXTWAVE: AGENTS OF H.A.T.E. VOL. 2 (I Kick Your Face), Warren Ellis persists in dispensing with multi-layered plotlines and the fleshing out of characters. This one, collecting the final issues #7-12 and much like in Volume 1, reads like an extended fight scene sound effect. If you like action that's often in your face and without the constant impediment of dreary word captions, then ...

Love it!
I would rate myself at the intermediate level when it comes to editing. I was fairly new to Premiere Pro 2 (was using 6.5 before) when I purchased the book. There were some things I knew already that the book described but I didn't know a lot of the shortcuts. It also taught me a great deal about using all of the Audio features, so that was a huge bonus for me. All in all, I thought the book was ...

A Manga Odyssey
2001: A Space Odyssey is one of my favorite movies for its detailed and believable vision of a future that is still largely unrealized. I was pleasantly surprised to see Yukinobu Hoshino pay homage to Kubrick's visual style throughout much of 2001 Nights, in scenes that were recognizably inspired by the film. The skillfully-rendered black-and-white panels throughout the book are evocative of ...

Must have for amateur/semi-professionals
I learned so much from this book. In fact, I've already implemented several of the ideas and have had great results. If you're semi-professional (video has been added to your responsibilities but you have no experience with this medium) BUY THIS BOOK. Who would have thought of parchment paper and clothes pins to diffuse light and create a softer, more natural light over the subject? That's ...

Excellent Learning Tool
I knew absolutely nothing about Premiere Pro, and within hours I was on my way to creating video. The lessons are very easy to follow in step-by-step format with illustrations. The book also contains sidebars that go into greater depth on the information presented. I totally recommend this book as a first course in editing with Premiere Pro 1.5.

Peter David & X-Factor: a perfect match
Peter David's new X-FACTOR series rivals Joss Whedon and John Cassaday's ASTONISHING X-MEN in excellence. Thanks largely to the success of the 5-issued MADROX: MULTIPLE CHOICE limited series, Peter David was able to resuscitate the X-Factor title. In the aftermath of the sweeping HOUSE OF M and DECIMATION story arcs and as a direct continuation of the aforementioned Madrox limited series, Jamie ...

The most pivotal Spider-Man story ever told
Just about every big name super hero in comics has at least one pivotal moment that always gets remembered by fans. For Spider-Man, what's collected here in Death of the Stacys is THE pivotal turning point for Marvel's celebrated character. The death of Gwen Stacy, Peter Parker's first true love before Mary Jane, meets her demise thanks to the Green Goblin, which leaves Spidey blaming himself ...

The Oregon Rebellion
What does the future hold for America? Many have conjectured with predictable, unlikely speculations. E.G. Ross tackles this question with verve and imagination, while holding to a plausible story line that engages the reader. There is no lack of action, intrigue and subplots to keep a mentally sharp bibliophile happy. Yet there is more here. One finds a basic questioning of current trends ...

Finally, Marvel is putting together these exhaustive handbooks in hard cover form. If you are a big Marvel fan you absolutely have to have these reference books. Also, finally, there are biographies for Marvel Golden Age characters which is very nice. If you collected the Official Marvel Handbooks from the 1980s-1990s and enjoyed them then these updated versions are a MUST have. The ...

Some of the best modern Hulk stories you'll ever read
Marvel finally had the good sense to re-print two modern classic Hulk stories with Hulk: Future Imperfect and Hulk: The End; both of which are written by legendary Hulk scribe Peter David and collected here in this handsome hardcover. Future Imperfect is a two-issue smash that finds the Hulk transported to the future to duke it out with an older, stronger, and tyrannical future version of ...

Great Manga
This is one of the better graphic novels I've ever read, and one of the best werewolf novels (even though the main character is actually a werelion, not a werewolf). Each new plot development is suprising, and yet at the same time makes perfect sense- if people who turn into animals really existed in the modern world, how would they behave? This book gives some realistic, yet unexpected, answers. ...
