The Price of Everything: A Parable of Possibility and Prosperity

An appreciation of "The Price of Everything"
Though presented as fiction, this is the best (and most painless) primer on free-market economics I have ever read, and have been recommending it my friends to help them understand free-market thinking. It is very well plotted, flowed seamlessly and was a joy to read (and re-read). The protagonist is a Stanford economics professor named Ruth Lieber and the novel recounts her discussions with ...

Interesting...Entertaining...Engaging 4.5 Stars
The illegitimate son of a Duke, Sebastien, is pitted against his legitimate brother and others in a competition to win the home in which he grew up. Winning the competition also brings the victor a title, other properties and a bride, Lady Sarah - the daughter of an earl. Sebastien's only interest is the ability to keep the only place he's ever called home. His father, the Duke, added the home ...

Homer Price A collection of heartwarming tales from a small town in the USA, as told by one of its younger residents. Shades of Bill Bryson, except that Homer Price predates him by a generation or more. Wonderful, quirky illustrations by the author himself, who has a an eye for detail similar to that of Norman Rockwell.

TOUCHING THE LOST SOULS
I knew that Richard Price was a writer of note, but I had not been enticed enough in the past to read his work. Well, once Lush Life arrived, I couldn't put it down. Every chance I got, I'd grab another 5-7 pages. One Saturday, I read Lush Life for 3 hours straight and loved it. You are just sucked into this story. Price is a master at getting into the 'nitty gritty' of his characters. They're ...

How to create a healthy human being with nutrition
Would it be crass say this book is the answer to new couples wanting to conceive and raise children who will grow up to have straight teeth, model beautiful cheekbones and manly square jaws? ;) I fear that is the only way we can get past our current culture obsessed with lowfat oversugared fake food. This book changed my life and the life of my son. In a time where vegetables-lowfat-tofu ...

Money Doesn't Always Buy Happiness...
I'll jump right in and say it -- my husband and I may very well be at the lower end of the target demographic for this book. We both work full time, we live in a relatively affluent area of Northern California, own a home, have a Prius, and are currently contemplating whether to send our kids to public or private school. Nevertheless, I was pretty skeptical about a book that treats upper class ...

The China price and the Walmart price
Discussions of free trade sing its virtues, while the reality is something different: the unequal terms of that trade, especially vis a vis China and the United States, where two sets of rules are at work. One result is the 'China price' and the growing imbalance in trade relationships. The larger picture shows the other side to globalizaton: the exploitation of cheap labor, disregard of ...

Fun book, holds their attention well.
My 19 month old twins love this book. They don't quite understand the activities in it yet, such as finding all the monkeys and identifying the shapes, but they love to open and close the flaps on all the pages. It is densely animated, but it makes it more fun and challenging to find things in the pictures. We recently flew across country and this book helped tremendously in keeping them ...

For the record, the quote in my review title is from page 10. "Escaping The Price-Driven Sale" bills itself as being "From the creators of SPIN Selling," even though its author, Neil Rackham, is not directly involved. Rackham is the founder and president of Huthwaite Inc., while "Escaping" authors Tom Snyder and Kevin Kearns are its Senior VP of Strategy and Business Development and CEO, ...

What A Powerful Book
What a powerful book this is and yet a quick read. Simple yet very in-depth. I am well into the 40 days, and when I missed one day near the beginning, I did start over. There is an energy that is created and maintained throughout the 40 day period, and it is a practice that needs to become a daily habit. I am an avid student and teacher of the Law of Attraction and Prosperity Thinking, and a ...

Kovel Guides are the old standard
I been getting these guides for the past 20 years. There a good basic guide when you need them. I prefer actual sales information to get a value for something. The only thing, I don't like about them are that they don't have photo for most of the items they list. Sure they put some pictures in the book. But an item without a picture, is only a guess what you think it is.

A love story that's surprising --- for how good it is
It's Christmas, and money's tight, so Therese Belivet does what any unemployed 19-year-old stage designer might --- she takes a temp job in the toy department of a Manhattan department store. Her days define dreary. The aging sales clerks seem "stricken with an everlasting exhaustion and terror." As for her customers, they're also desperate, but for a doll, any doll. Then Mrs. H.F. Aird walks ...
