This is one amazing read!
The increasingly difficult journey to better health starts and ends with glutathione. This critical information is a must for anyone interested in prevention of disease or for those needing information on an existing condition, which may be a result of GSH depletion. You don't have to be a physician, scientist, or involved in the medical profession to grasp a clear understanding of the body's ...

These diets REALLY work!!!
I have read this book from front to back and have selected the perfect diet for me from the diet questions. I have lost 15lbs in two months eating the foods that I love from the protein, carb, fat and free foods lists. I followed the instructions and have not been hungry. Other than planning to cook a turkey breast on the weekend for the week and for shopping for my foods that I will eat that ...

Great book!
This is a magnificent book, remarkable for its breadth, depth, and accessibility. Elegant discussions of background material including topics in quantum chemistry and thermodynamics render this book a self-contained tutorial on the many-faceted problems of protein physics. Because of its structure as a series of increasingly sophisticated lectures, it should be accessible to a wide variety ...

Life Changing Plan
One thing that I must say about this book is that you have to really be ready to change your diet in order to truly see the benefits. With that being said, once you are ready to commit to it, you will without a doubt reap the benefits of this plan. I was amazed by how easy it was to follow. I loved how she dumbed it down for me and just gave me options to choose for my breakfast, lunch, dinner, ...

Easily the best book of its kind
Philip Yam's book The Pathological Protein is easily the best book of its kind. Written in clear, simple language for the non-specialist audience, The Pathological Protein is a thoroughly comprehensive, concise and, above all, scientifically accurate review of BSE and related diseases. Yam has been writing and editing for Scientific American since 1989 and this, his first book, demonstrates the ...

MUCH better than your average pop science book.
I have to say that this was a very poorly edited book littered with bizarre mistakes: grammatical, spelling, and elementary history (the introduction talks about 17th century Victorian ladies!). The writing style veers from something targeted at teenagers to something more adult and back again, sometimes in one paragraph. Having said that, this book really is worth reading, in spite of the ...

a book to use, and a book to keep
Lehninger's book remains the best single text in biochemistry, at least in English. A fine book for undergraduates, it is also the one volume that you may keep on your shelf for years to come, and the best biochem text for those whose primary specialty is not biochemistry (e.g. medicine, p-chem, microbio). No text is ever a substitute for the journals if you work in the field, but this book ...

Wonderful resource for families & individuals with PKU.
Just keep in mind that it is not a great place to find vegetarian recipes. People with PKU cannot tolerate protein and take a special supplement to provide it. Therefore these recipes will not provide the protein that your average vegetarian will be looking for. If, however, you or a member of your family has PKU, you should definitely get this book and read the whole thing. TWICE!

Healing with amino acids
This excellent book is a valuable guide to the therapeutic use of amino acids. It explains how amino acids function as the building blocks of protein, and lists the metabolic paths of the amino acids, the qualities of the individual amino acids and the disease states in which amino therapy can be helpful. The author discusses the essential aminos (that the body needs to get from food) and the ...

Good to the Last Page
I had to read this book for my Biotechnology class and although I am close to failing it I found Her-2 to be pretty exciting book. Her-2 by Bazell and King is about breast cancer, however, it reveals many other interesting things about the drug industry and how progress is made in the medical research field. There are different stories and view points and the authors have succesfully managed to ...

A Clear, In-depth Treatment of Biochemistry
In the first chapter of Protein Purification, Scopes notes that more and more biochemical techniques are black boxed, with kits eliminating the need for an understanding of biochemical principles (e.g., "precipitate with Acme Solution B, pour off Solution B, and redissolve precipitant in Solution C"). Scopes notes that with a proper understanding of biochemistry, one can save money on kits and do ...

A great book
_Philosophy in a New Key_ treats with a wide range of deep philosophical issues, but Langer writes in a clear, accessible style, so that the book should be both intelligible and enjoyable for a wide audience. The book starts with the proposition that the questions we ask are more important than the answers we give, since the questions determine the potential range of answers and the shape of ...

Dr. Lewin's work has helped me understand biology and improve my understanding of the sciences. The design and figures in Genes are wonderfully clear, as is the general body of the text. I cannot imagine anyone interested in the workings of the human brain not finding this book compelling. This non fiction book goes where no mind/brain book that I have read has gone before. People who say that History of Science is boring haven't read this excellent book. This book is lively, entertaining and unbiased.
