Emily Menendez-Aponte

A Child's Self-Help Guide To Divorce
When Mom and Dad Divorce: An Elf-Help Book for Kids is a must read for families undergoing the trauma of divorce. Written with sensitivity, the book covers the whole range of emotions children experience when they learn of an upcoming divorce. It is a book children can turn to over and over again as they progress through their own stages of divorce recovery. It is filled with the reassuring ...

Happy to Be Me!: A Kid Book about Self-Esteem (Elf-Help Books for Kids)1 review
Christine Adams, Robert J. Butch

Abbey Press, 2001

Mom of three girls
I like the way this book is written. It explains things so clearly to children - Starting with "What is Self-esteem", "Be your own best self", "Your own best friend", "A friend to others", etc. It is written from a Godly point of view but not "preachy". It is a good one to read to your kids and discuss. The whole "Elf-help" book series is really good and so worth getting. My copy is ...

Stress Therapy (Elf Self Help)2 reviews
Tom McGrath

Abbey Press, 1997

Simply a Gem of a Little Book
This very small, very short book is packed with words of wisdom regarding stress. I wouldn't go so far as to say it's a therapist substitute, but it'll certainly have a calming effect on you and isn't that what stress therapy should be all about. Tony McGrath has put only thirty-eight short paragraphs of wisdom in this book like Number Ten, "Constantly trying to please others guarantees ...

I read it every year !
This sweet little book is full of practical and thoughtful ways of simplifying the holiday season, particularly for those of us who try to do it all! The beautifully detailed illustrations of elf people are appropriate to each point and suggestion made, which are numbered 1 thru 30. It is very easy and quick to read yet packs alot of meaningful content. One of my favorites is: #10 Relinquish ...

The book reminds us how valuable friendship really is.
This is an excellent book to remind us that friends are a gift from God. The book gives great illustrations, and really places value on the connection between friends and God. I recieved the book, as a gift, from a very special person; now, I believe everyone should own a copy.

Keep Life Simple Therapy (Elf Self Help)1 review
Linus Mundy

A gem of a book
I discovered the whole line of Elf Help books while on vacation recently and have since acquired a whole library of them. They are simple and profound at the same time....kind of like what you would get if you distilled a whole book down to its true message. The illustrations are adorable and the message in the book is truly helpful. I have found I can read this books over and over and never ...

Gentle inspiration
This is my favorite book. Its filled with simple gentle ideas of what prayer is and how to pray. Its also filled with amusing and touching illustrations of an elf showing the different concepts the book is teaching. I pick this up all the time, when I need to refocus and get my perspective back. It really soothes my spirit. Highly recommended!
