Carpentry5 reviews
Leonard Koel

Amer Technical Pub, 2003

Carpentry
Carpentry is the most comprehensive book on the subject out there. I bought my copy in 1986 when I was building my house and found every answer to every job I was doing. When the building inspector came for the rough inspection, his coment was " if the contractors in town did this good of a job, my job would be easy". Today I am searching for this book for my brother inlaw who like myself, before ...

Learn your shop tools!
This is a fantastic book for all those looking to learn about woodworking and the shops they are doing their work in. I highly recommend this title ...

Metallurgy Theory and Practice1 review
Dell K. Allen

Amer Technical Pub, 1969

Older very nice book
This is an older book on metallurgy and does not contain info on some of the more "modern" techniques but this book excels at explaining the "what really happens" in very understandable language. For example, while hunting for info to do some induction heat treating on my parts I have read 3-4 books on induction heating ... but the knowledge was less than forthcoming - I found some starting ...

I have been a plasterer for 25 years. This is the book we all studied from while in union training. Dating back to the late 1950's, it has been equally invaluable to apprentices, as well as to masters. All who are interested in learning the craft must start here.

Plumbing: Design and Installation3 reviews
L. V. Ripka

Amer Technical Pub, 2006

A plumbing teacher's review
I use this book often in the shop/classroom. I think it is an excellent teaching aid when used in conjunction with the associated workbook. My only problem is converting some of the Minn. code into Massachusetts code where I teach. Several of the chapters deal specifically with plumbing traps, materials and plumbing fixtures, which I like. The workbook does a great job of using many different ...

High Pressure Boilers3 reviews
Frederick M. Steingress, Harold J. Frost, ...

Amer Technical Pub, 2003

This book is the Bible of High Pressure Boiler operation.
This book is an excellent study tool for learning all about High pressure Boilers. I have just finished reading a borrowed copy from a friend and recently passed the City of Chicago Stationary Engineers licience exam on the first try. This book is so valuable that I am ordering a personal copy to keep as a bible so that I can always refer to it when approached with unfamiliar boiler issues. ...

Electrical Motor Controls: Workbook1 review
Gary Rockis, Glen Mazur

Amer Technical Pub, 1997

Review from an Instructors point of view
I have used this workbook, in conjunction with the hard cover text, for about 14 years. I have tried several other books but none of them can compare with this one. The material is very clear and presented in a precise manner. Some of the answers from the answer book, that is provided for instructors, are a little over complicated for application but the student does not see this. The text ...

5 STAR REVIEW
This is a very good book for instruments and technicians in Instrumentation and Controls field . It provides a theoretical and practical approach to the vast field of instrumentation and controls . This is a great ...

Low Pressure Boilers2 reviews

Low Pressure Boilers
This is among the best written books on the topic I've come across. It is easily understood and has many diagrams and photos to help explain the principles. Chapters arrangement covers all the workings of boilers from the physical properties of steam to the boiler to safety issues for the boiler room. Many states recommend the book as a resource in preparing for boiler exams. Some of the ...

Stationary Engineering3 reviews
Frederick M. Steingress

Amer Technical Pub, 1990

The Bible of the Boiler Room
This book is a must have for any stationary/operating engineer. Anything you need/want to know about boilers is in this book. It's also very helpful in preparing for the NJ boiler/engineer license tests. I can't say enough about this book. It is a little hard reading in some spots, mainly because of all the formulas and equations, but overall is probably the best resource for a boiler operator.
