Extra Class License preparation - great product
As usual, the folks at ARRL have done a great job of putting a book together to help you pass the FCC Extra Class amateur radio exam. This is the book for you if you want to both pass the exam, and have an understanding of advanced amateur practices. This is not a memorize the answers type of book. ARRL provides subsistence and background so you can develop an full understanding, and pass ...

Graduate EE course in one book
The ARRL Handbook for Radio Communications (formerly known as the Radio Amateur's Handbook) has been around since the early 20th century. It has always been both technical and practical. My only criticism, and it is from a personal viewpoint, is that in recent years there is more technical detail and fewer practical projects, but don't let that stop you! Indispensable.

The ARRL always has well written books on any Ham Radio subject, and this one is no different. I had an earlier edition from 1999, but this one was upgraded with all sorts of new material. Worth the price

Terrific instruction book (yes, instruction) and study aid
The ARRL Q&A guides are well thought-out mini instruction guides. You can actually learn - really learn - a good percentage of the exam material by reading through the brief answer explanations that accompany each question. That will not suffice for the more complex material, of course, but even there, reading this book first will better focus your study of the full exam guide. That's ...

Fun, Topical Reading
This is one of those books you can pick up and read random chapters, or even individual pages and find value. The book is organized topically and covers a wide variety of interests, so whether your interest is RTTY, DX, moonbounce, or whatever, you'll likely find it covered here - not just in shallow survey form, either (in spite of its wide coverage), but with usable advice and perspective. I ...

The Communications "Bible"
The ARRL Handbook is a world renowned "bible" of communications. In teaching ham radio classes, where I use my own book "Ride the Airwaves with ALFA & ZULU", the ARRL Handbook is recommended to students of all ages as the ultimate source of information. Years ago, when I was studying electronic engineering in college, I used the ARRL Handbook often for a clear, practical explanation of ...

ARRL Classic RF Linear Amp
I was disappointed in the book. It has linear amps for hf and VHF, but the selection of what can be built is limited. Also, they picked amplifiers that would be very expensive to build. This book is not good for the typical ham looking to build a 600 or 800 watt low cost linear. I would have not bought it if I would have had a chance to look through it in advance.

This is the bible
I am not the most technical guy in the world, so some parts of this book were a little over my head, or required a lot of study to understand. But I have implemented much of the information, and I continue to plan and fantasize about some of the other projects that are not completely realistic for my property or my budget. There is a TON of great info here, and I can definitely say that my signal ...

Passed...
Used this to pass the ARRL General exam a month after getting my Technician license. After a friend of mine showed me a lot of the stuff I'd only read about in the Technician book...made the information in the General book much easier to understand. After only a week & 1/2...passed the exam with only missing 5 questions. Not the score I wanted...but a pass is a pass. Unlike the Gordon ...

The "Standard" for ham radio operators.
The book speaks for itself if you are an amateur radio operator or someone who aspires to be one. These become collectors items as time goes on and the hard cover version is a real keeper. Amazon has a much better price for a new one than buying from the ARRL store.
