Excellent! Two experts on the Napoleonic era have produced a real gem
This book was a pleasant surprise because of its quality, excellent color pictures and very informative text. Though it follows is some aspects the structure of the Osprey Warrior series, it doesn't belong to them and has also some nice extra features. The chapters are: - "The Best Regiment in the World": Formation and Organisation - The Personalities - On Campaign - The Emperor's Escort - ...

FAQ books are the best!
While books in the FAQ series seem to fetch premium prices and seem to sell out quickly, they are worth the effort to locate them. Do price shop though! Tools, materials, preparation, and techniques all get the attention they deserve. Using this book is ...

Learning from a Master
After having been away from the armor modelling hobby for three decades, I recently returned to find there has been an explosion of after-market tools, upgrades, paints, pigments, filters, washes and other techniques for making models more realistic. One of the big changes is pigments, and the guru of them is Mig Jimenez. His book outlines all the major ways of weathering and aging plastic kits, ...

Miguel Angel Marti'n Mas
Andrea Press, 2006
Interesting , but a little light on content
Similar to an Osprey book, but has more content. Covers many topics I haven't seen before, such as biographies of various Spanish guerilla leaders. A plus is the many color pictures, however the high cost makes its value questionable.

Excellent Little Introductory Book
The cavalry of the American West has certainly been memorialized in story and film. The stories tend to be either heroic (John Wayne) comes to mind, or very negative, as in the books like 'Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee.' This little book, well illustrated and very well written attempts to set the record straight. For it's small size, it is remarkably complete. It covers a tremendous amount of ...

The Complete Bill Horan
I received this book as a present and might not have originally bought it but after reading and looking at it, I can say it is worth the money. Two excellent tutorials on how one of todays master figure sculptor/painters does it is good enough but there are hundreds of superb photos of Mr. Horans works showing figures ranging from baseall players (whcih there are quite a few of) to knights, etc. ...

Good for what it is, but...
This book describes construction and painting of several dioramas set in the Wild West. Do not expect to learn about figure painting, only in case of one bust painting of eyes is shown in multiple photos. Elsewhere, you get to see how the diorama was designed, individual pieces are shown painted, and later assembled together. In some cases list of paints (Andrea Miniatures acrylics) is given ...

KNIGHTS IN MINIATURE II: A Complete Guide to Painting and Converting Medieval Miniatures (Modelling Manuals)
1 review
Andrea Press
Andrea Press, 2006
Short with inconsistent images
I was rather disappointed in this book. It was very short, the images swapped from one mini to another in the middle of a description and the techniques were not covered very well. This was more of a full color ad for a brand of paint with the cipsets than a book on miniature painting. The Osprey manual on medieval miniatures is very supoerior to this book.
