Don't read this review! This book is not for everyone!
Not everyone will benefit from this book. Those who have strong prejudices against the rich and believe wealth comes by winning the lottery may not enjoy it. (Don't read it unless you desire the truth.) Those who strive to do the right thing, live a balanced life and practice good judgment will love it. You will feel strengthened by the scientific research that confirms your beliefs about work, ...

The Mystery of Change
As a corporate director of human resources, it is a good day when I find a book that can actually be put to good use in our managerial training. This is one of those books. In fact, it is one of the rare books that weeks and months after using, I still find that managers refer to "cheese" when dealing with change management problems and solutions. While change certainly means different ...

Crass Clown
Anyone who needs a lot of humor in their lives is in dire need of the work coming out of the disturbed mind of Stephan Pastis. The Crass Menagerie, the third treasury collection of the comic strip Pearls Before Swine, continues the daily "moral" lessons of Rat, Pig, Goat and Zebra ably supported by the ravenous but incompetent crocs, the loyal Guard Duck and a secondary cast of characters who ...

Funny AND smart!
This third collection of "Frazz" strips did not disappoint! Witty, funny, thought-provoking, and yes even educational, Frazz has an appeal that is sadly lacking in so many of today's comic strips. I found this to be a thoroughly enjoyable book.
Macho Macho Animals: A Pearls Before Swine Collection
Stephan Pastis
Andrews McMeel Publishing, 2008
The original bad boys of the comics page are back in this wildly entertaining seventh collection of Pearls Before Swine comic strips by Stephan Pastis. You know the lineup: Mucho macho Rat, who's ready to get down with anyone he can; sensitive Pig, who can't give up his disco dreams; Zebra, who will survive; and Goat, the brains of the outfit. Violent, unstable Guard Duck and the Crocs next door round out this fabulous cast. The dark, twisted ...

A Masterpiece Of Comic Brillance
"Every one of these cartoons is just something that drifted into my head when I was alone with my thoughts. And, for better or worse, I `jotted them down. It was only later, when perhaps I received an angry letter from someone, that it struck me: Hey! Some one's been reading my diary!" Gary Larson, from the preface to The Complete Far Side How do you explain 'Far Side'? A brilliant comedic ...

Couldn't have passed my Art Content Praxis without this book!!!
I bought this book to review for the Art Content Praxis. It's been about 20 years since my art history classes so I definitely needed a refresher. Although, I did remember a lot and reviewed other books, this book put me over the top. It's fast paced and easy to read! Short highlights to remind you of things you may have forgot and adds what you may have missed.

For the 60 million knitters in America, ...

The Perfect Way To Enjoy Calvin And Hobbes
I suppose this could apply to any Calvin and Hobbes collection (not just Attack of the Deranged..., but let me share my favorite way to read Calvin and Hobbes. If possible, I like to pick a rainy Saturday or Sunday. I'm usually already bored and wandering around the cold house. I catch sight of a Calvin and Hobbes book and read a few pages, but my fingers are cold and I can't concentrate. ...

Frendsheep on Zebra Drive
I really love the Croc's! They are all my neighbors rolled into one - I think even a few have followed me into work once and a while. The never give up attitude and dogged determination makes for a book that is just fun to give (which I plan on), read and laugh out loud. In these times we all need the comics to see some humor in life. Of course I would like to have the book be thicker, but ...

Great Mother's Day Present
After seeing this book on "The View", I decided that I was going to buy it for my mother, mother-in-law, and stepmom. After seeing their reaction, I knew this book was golden. My mother-in-law has said this has been her favorite mother's day present in years. She spent the whole next weekend digging through photo albums and writing in the book. I decided to give this book to my own grandmother ...

Get Fuzzy - Get Laughing!
Darby Conley is so talented that it's really hard to imagine a world without talking pets. Satchel, the Canadian-born Lab-Sharpei mix is so mixed up that anything that Bucky doesn't hit him with point-blank just goes completely over his head. Rob is the poor sap who's stuck with these two complete idiots as pets/room mates. If he's not cleaning up choked-up hairballs mixed with rubberbands, ...

When the student is ready
I had to make an apron in Home Ec class many (many) years ago. I didn't enjoy it at all. I didn't care for the fabric, didn't really get the hang of using a sewing machine, just felt it was a waste of time. Nobody in my family wore an apron, anyway, somehow they miraclously stayed clean during food prep. Flash forward a few decades. I like to cook and bake and I did not inherit the miracle of ...

"I've tried to return some of the fun, magic, and beauty I've enjoyed in other comics. "
"I've always loved cartoons. With 'Calvin and Hobbes', I've tried to return some of the fun, magic, and beauty I've enjoyed in other comics. It's been immensely satisfying to draw 'Calvin and Hobbes', and I will always be grateful to have had the opportunity to work in this wonderful art form." (p. 208) This book allows us to see the man behind the pen. This collection is a selection of what ...
