Our cactus friends!
The first time I visited the Saguaro National Park in Tucson, Arizona, I had dozens of questions about saguaros. I wanted to know why their arms grow down toward the ground sometimes and why some of them have a brown woody bark and why some of them have ripples and what happens to you if you get caught shooting at a saguaro. This book answered all of my questions and then some! I found out ...

A Rare Treat of Reverence and Delight
Elegant and unique - the best of it's kind! This book is one that I enjoy over and over again, enriched each time by the authors' reverent vision and writings about this sacred and profoundly beautiful landscape. The new edition's 22 Hikes are described and well organized (i.e. Easy Hikes, Hikes along Water, Hikes to Arches, Hikes into Canyons, Vista Hikes and Loop Hikes) and are wonderful ...

Artistic, educational, fun
This hardback book, not paperback, has some of the most beautiful illustrations and the story is so interesting. You will learn about a fascinating desert creature and how it protects the mighty saguaro. Children and adults will laugh and smile at the whimsical characters in this story. This is a book adults will enjoy reading to their children again and again.

Narrative Nonficiton At Its Best
While on a recent trip to Anza Borrego Desert State Park, I saw The Desert Cries: A season of Flash Floods in a Dry Land on the shelf in the visitor center. Since I knew a thing or two about flash floods, I flipped through a few pages. Yikes. I was in it, and it wasn't an entirely flattering depiction. But of course, I had to buy the book. That night, while camped in a desert wash, I read The ...

Desert beauty revealed!
David Muench, the dean of American landscape photogrphers explores a very novel idea - look at the big picture and then the small picture within. It reminds us to look for the little things and find great beauty within. Lawrence Cheek is a gifted writer whose prose matches Muench's genius with a camera. What a spectacular gift book!

A Fun Time with Harvey!
The illustrations are fantastic and the story is wonderful! I love Harvey's rules of table manners! My grand-niece and nephew will also receive a copy!

Get to KNOW Mission San Juan
This book gives you a present day, and historical look at the Mission. It captures so much of the spirit. It is beautifully photographed, each picture being a treasure in itself. It is wonderfully illustrated - the artist certainly understands the Mission, and it is so well written. The author paints a picture of the old and new in an amazing way. The whole book is a work of art in itself. If ...

nice pictures
The information and directions included in this book are very informative, but not in a lot of depth. Photos were fantastic. Buy it with another book whose emphasis is Arizona history with more specific directions and it will be a winning combination.

Just what I wanted
We recently went on a trip and drove to the Grand Canyon. We did not get to their bookstore, so I wanted to get my wife a book with beautiful Grand Canyon photos. I searched on-line and read reviews and ordered 2. She didn't even like the other one, but this one was great. It has photos that are spectacular and just what one wants as a memento of the Grand Canyon. I knew that Arizona Highways ...

so cute!
This book is so cute! My son loves to look at the silly drawings and laugh. But the best part is, he's also learning about the animals when he reads this. I know there are a lot of kid's books out there - but this one is a real gem.
