The Collected Tales of A. E. Coppard (Supernatural and Occult Fiction)

"Selected," not "Collected" Stories
Despite the title of this book, it is far from a complete edition of A. E. Coppard's short stories. I own the Knopf edition, which came out back in the 1950s, and it contains 38 stories selected from a corpus of over 200. Coppard's work, written in a distinctive, peculiarly English poetic style is shown to its best advantage within the relatively small compass of this book. The selection as ...

One of the best!!
This was probably the first "grown up" novel I ever read way back in sixth grade. It has always stuck with me. Trying to find a copy has been a bear though. If you like historical novels and can find a copy of this one; you won't be disappointed!!

John Heckewelder
Arno Press, 1971
A Christian perspective on the Delaware People
This excellent book gives a keen insight into the lives of the Delaware People. As a missionary to the American Indians in the early 1700's, John Heckewelder set to understanding these people inorder to bring to them the Gospel of Jesus Christ. This book was actually written to his supporters not only for them to understand what he was doing, but also to train other missionaries before sending ...

Charles Manning Child
Arno Press, 1979
STAGGERING IMPLICATIONS
The thesis of Child's monumental work is that periodic food deprivation rejuvenates any living organism [we dig our graves with our mouth!] Periodic food deprivation turns off digestion and activates all eliminative processes. Age reversal is not affected primarily by what is put into the organism, but rather by what is eliminated from the organism. Aging is a complex series of chemical ...

A must-read account of the development of supersonic flight
This is a different book about an era that much has been written about. William Bridgeman's "The lonely sky", Pete Everest's "Fastest Man Alive" and Yeager's bestselling autobiography all talk about the same era - the development of supersonic aircraft in the late 40s and early 50s. The perspective is different, Crossfield was a new breed of test pilot - an engineer with the "Right Stuff". ...
