a wonderful read
This is a wonderful read. The characters are rich, the setting fascinating, the times interesting, and the creative use of the development of the speedy production of pencillium a fascinating move. The book transported me to the experiences of people in the early 1940s---one small cut could kill you if it got infected, the palpable fear of invasion right after the start of the war, the almost ...

Delightfully Fast Paced
This is the only one I've read in this series and I found it to be funny and easy to read. I loved the humor and the way the hero and heroine bantered back and forth. There were some great lines from all the characters and I liked that no one was very stiff and proper as in so many historical romances. I agree that the the lack of love scenes was a little disappointing but I did enjoy the ...

And I was so looking forward to it
I really liked "My Wicked Marquess" and was looking forward to this second in the series about Rohan. I can't quite put my finger on why I didn't like this one as much until I read one of the other reviewers remarks. 'By the end it felt like an Indiana Jones movie.' Too true! That is exactly it. I guess I wanted a bit more from the romance department and less on the adventure. Foley still ...
Sex at Dawn: The Prehistoric Origins of Modern Sexuality

Delicious Food for Thought
Very well researched, well written and well argued. "Sex at Dawn" is clear, concise and very accessible and I would highly recommend it. The main argument being made is that monogamy/marriage is not a human universal and we need to rethink how we view human nature. Anyone interested in the subjects of primatology, anthropology, evolution, human nature or feminist/queer theory will find ...

It is fiction
I cannot believe how many individual are picking on details in their reviews. Do you really sit down while you read and think about historical facts, why or whether bodies need to be discarded or not, etc.? Whether the story is plausible or not does not really matter. Any romance novel, or any movie staring a beautiful heroine and a dashing hero is a "fiction". When in real life do you ever ...

Books like this are the reason I read romances.
This book was a thorough delight. The writing is top-notch, the plot interesting and fun to read, the characters appealing and well-developed, and the romance grows just the way love is supposed to, slowly and oh-so-romantically. I've been having trouble lately finding romances that appeal to me, because, although I'm no prude, I'm not satisfied with the immediate lust and sex that many books ...

More than what meets the eye...
This book was amazing I finished it within 24hour period. The first I've ever read of Lisa Kleypas' work. I would compare her writings to Julia Quinn's masterpieces. She has written a brilliant love story about overcoming social standards and how love conquers all. I can't convey how much I love this story of Simon & Annabelle. Kleypas created a great segue into her next book in the ...

I expected to be blown away, given how many people have told me how good this book is, but the book itself wasn't amazing. It was one of the better of historical romances, but I really just enjoyed the characters the most. They were realistic and funny and I wouldn't mind seeing them star in another book, maybe an alternate universe one set in space.

A Book for us "Real women"
An absolute awesome edition to the feral warriors collection. I have read all of them so far and loved them all. This one however was my absolute favorite. This book clearly stands alone and is a breathtaking story that isn't for the light hearted. It shows how not every story has to be a fairytale to end up good. Jag is a real man, and sometimes real men are very, very naughty. So, it ...
